Prostatitis treatment as a novel insight into Finasteride related problems

for all those who supplement, keep in mind that any supplementation, hormonal modulation, and even Cialis has been said to feed microbes or inflammation…

Nomiman, you are talking to a guy who re took finasteride. I am not worrying about nettle root.

source?

I would also love to see a real source on this. Everyone that went to see Georgiadis keeps saying it and yet i have seen elsewhere that treating hormone abnormalities etc can help out with prostatitis.

So, if someone has low T they would be doing damage by upping there T with clomid? surely having low T is far worse. Fair enough, if you have chronic prostatitis the T is likely to come back down and therefore there may not be any point in boosting T but i can’t see how it would do ‘damage’ when the alternative is low T, which destroys any man.

A source on Cialis ‘feeding’ microbes would be good too.

Georgiadis’s word doesn’t count

The great dr G?
You could send him a picture of an elephant prostate and he will tell you he can fix you.

Be careful with boosting T. Whoever tried to boost it got badly hit by horrible sides. However, as far as some of our members’ experience goes, it seems possible to avoid these sides by concurrently boosting the metabolic rate, which requires time, tons of testing, and a doctor.

[b]This is interesting:

In the below study, Finasteride was found to PREVENT prostatitis, not encourage its development.

Abstract
AIM:

To evaluate the preventive effect of finasteride on chronic bacterial prostatitis (CBP), Wistar rats were divided into four groups: control, ciprofloxacin, finasteride, and ciprofloxacin/finasteride.
METHODS:

All drug pretreatments were conducted for 4 weeks, and then experimental CBP was induced by instillation of a bacterial suspension (Escherichia coli Z17 O2:K1;H-).
RESULTS:

After 4 weeks, results of microbiological cultures of prostate and urine samples as well as histological findings of the prostate in each group were analyzed. Finasteride significantly reduced bacterial infection and decreased inflammatory cell infiltration in prostatic tissue compared with the control group. The group given both finasteride and antibiotic showed a greater inhibition of bacterial infection in the tissue than those given either finasteride or antibiotic alone.
CONCLUSION:

Our experiments suggest the possibility that finasteride has a preventive effect on development of CBP, although there is as yet no consensus on the mechanism of this effect.

Someone pass me the Fin packet then please as my prostate feels likes it’s going to fucking explode.

Any other updates for the KOS guys???

Since I had a complete recovery for one week back in 2007 on Cipro and hydrocortisone, I think the problem is prostate related. Have been on and off antibiotics for years, no improvement. My prostate was enlarged when examined by ultrasound 4 years ago and still enlarged till now. By enlarged, the doctor said it is the size of a 70 years old prostate (I’m 32 now).

Alright gentlemen, I will sacrifice my prostate and hope this whole nightmare will be over. I’m searching for the best doctors who can do that procedure.

Nerve sparing prostatectomy should keep your erections and penis size.

I will update my case within months.

Cheers.

Of course!

And here is the coup de théâtre I was waiting for! Lately, this thread got kind of boring, but now it gets awesome again–finally. I can’t wait to hear about the results of the procedure! Keep us posted!

double post

After doing some reading on a couple of websites i have found that all the strange stuff going on around my Rectum area and the constant toilet visits to excrete as well as urinate is commonly seen in prostatitis sufferers. Does anybody else suffer these specific symptoms?

. Need to excrete at least 4 times a day, often with numbing pain and constipation
. Severe shooting and stinging pains in the rectum and stomach area if you hold in the need to excrete or urinate
. Loose bowel movements
. A feeling that something is stuck up my rectum or there is something blocking everything off up there
. Letting off gas silently very often
. Anxiety makes all my symptoms go 1000% worse. I literally start needing to take a shit/ piss every 15 minutes.

These are just a few of the things i suffer daily and only tonight have i done some browsing and found testimonials from prostatitis sufferers with the same issues. It doesn’t just affect your penis.

The best thing i can think of is a run of antibiotics/ anti inflammatory meds and something like xanax to control anxiety. Hopefully i might stumble upon a good NHS doctor that is willing to listen to my concerns.

Nothing is known about PFS or chronic prostatitis so i guess there is nothing to say or do in particular.

Another link mentioning estrogen and prostatitis.

This is just a mini-update. I won’t post unless I have something to add. My ejaculate is no longer clear like water. Over the past week, it’s become cloudy white. I’ve have been advised to only masterbate at most 3x a week since the prostate is still healing. This is the only change in symptoms since my last post.

Well thats a good sign.

I’ve been reading about neurogenic inflammation and whether this could be the cause of our prostate discomfort.

If so statins might be helpful.

Hi, Genetix1,

did your uro advise you to get rid of your prostate or is this your idea ?

I can read some people here think it is a good news for the community. In my opinion, you are kind of announcing you’ll commit suicide on your sexuality. We all are blocked here from that point of view, but with a tiny hope of remission one day. Without prostate, your chances really get smaller. There might be a link, surely, between your prostate condition and your condition, but getting rid of your prostate and hoping it will solve everything will just get you nowhere, or further in your nightmare.

Generally I don’t give my opinion to people, I hope you don’t take it bad, but I just think you’re about to put yourself in danger. Think about it and talk to several doctors before doing something you can’t undo.
All the best

here is my report after 1 month

reminder : I took finasteride about 5-6 months in 2007, crashed very bad, got recovered to 75% in august08, improved to 95% over time, then crashed again (without finasteride) in may of this year

observations :

Prostate pain
before : was BAD, BAD, BAD, I felt clogged down there, something was blocked and hurted me
after : it has reduced a lot, sometimes I don’t feel my prostate, but I do still feel a slight tension & pain though generally

Erections
before treatment : no or very weak noctural erections, strong difficulties to achieve one solid erection during the day
after : solid or super solid erections every night (I maybe missed 1 or 2 days in the whole month of september), despite poor sleep
during the day, it’s usually easy to get a strong erection

Penile skin/tissue/appearence/sensitivity
before treatment : was numb, retracted, not smooth like it used to be
after : bigger while still (in fact it’s only when it went bigger during the first days of treatment that I realized that my dick was retracted before !), smooth to the touch like it is supposed to be (while still), looks much healthier, less veiny. while erected it looks pretty normal. however I still feel there is something strange, some little veins, sometimes I feel like there is more skin than before (?), that’s hard to assess but really I feel something is weird

Ejaculation
before treatment : would not shoot out, was watery, with yellowish jelly-like disgusting lumps
after : I can shoot out more, my sperm is almost white (which is a surprise since I’ve always had watery sperm even before finasteride), but I still have those disgusting lumps

Libido
before treatment : was zero
after : more brain-penis connection, but libido still low

Other

 • urination feels more normal again, less blocked
 • prostate twitches have reduced significantly
 • low back pain is gone

Prostate plays a big role in my condition. I did have benefits from dr G’s treatment on this matter. Dr G says the basic 1-month therapy is to get rid of infection, but it is possible that one can have some inflammation left, even after this basic therapy. In my case, he told me to wait 6 months and see how things go.

You should think I’m now supper happy with these improvements

I’m not

 • back in may of this year I was having the best sexual function since finasteride, maybe I was better than pre finasteride. I now realize I’m back to a poor state, even if it is better than before treatment. It took me 2.5 years to get back to this excellent state of libido and erections. 1 month after, I was crashing again (dexamethasone ?). Life is so cruel. I still can’t believe I’m back into this mess. My current state is far better than before treatment, but is far worse than how I was in may 2011

 • WARNING ABOUT FLUOROQUINOLONES most people in Kos had little sides (just feeling tired, and slight tendons pain). When I was in Kos I was half disabled. I’m lucky now to be able to walk like a normal person, but I still have pains everyday here and there, I cant do sport, and I guess it will take me months to get back to normal. Fluoroquinolones may be 10x times more dangerous than finasteride. Be aware you take a risk no matter what fluoroquinolone you take, stop if you feel bad pain. This doctor is maybe good to treat prostate, but he is totally mental to give such strong doses of this class of antibiotics, IMO. I will come back to Kos one day only if Dr G agrees to make the treatment with other antibiotics. I’ve not asked him yet, we will see.

What’s next for me now :

 • heal from FQ
 • see how things go with sexual function and everything
 • wait for my lab tests and spermoculture (I will post results when I have them)
 • go back to Paris hospitals and make everything possible to raise attention to this problem, explore all angles (my friend blasé managed to get attention of a very well known doctor, who is working with research teams and is willing to help us)

I really believe that we were differently affected by finasteride. Some have brain damage, some prostate pain, some have “only” libido issues, etc. I dont believe there is one root cause. Maybe I’m wrong. But for the moment, all we can do is treat what we have identified.
