Prostatitis treatment as a novel insight into Finasteride related problems

i checked out boston’s prostatitis thread. he went to the Tuscon clinic (prostate-usa.com/) for i think one week. he mentioned that he had an 80-90% recovery immediately, but slowly the prostate pain/inflamation came back and less libido and erections came back. its been a while since he has posted, but he mentioned he wanted to go back and that even though his symptoms came back, they did not come back as bad as they were b4.

it would be interesting to see if Dr. P. would be open to going to the clinic for say 4-5 weeks for treatment. it probably would actually be more expensive than going to Kos, but some insurance might cover it to help offset the cost?

thanks for the update gef. i take it that you are confident enough in this treatment that you are willing to go back for 2 more weeks? unfortunately most american and australians will not be able to do this, since it is so far away. in my case, as a teacher, i have 2.5 months off in the summer to spend there so i could feasibly do it, but coming up with the money will take time!

seriously crazy how hard this is to treat!

I have had the ejaculation during using the toilet and the pains in the lower belly very often. I guess that means i am truly fucked.

Solonjk, when are we going to see a thread from you in the recovery section?

There’s probably not much feedback coming from the guys in Kos because they are concentrating on their individual treatments. It’s definately not an easy treatment to have especially when there are no guarentees.

I cant speak for the rest of the guys in Kos but sometimes the negativity on this forum is just too much to deal with at the moment while getting through the treatment. It takes a lot of focus and everyone needs to try and stay positive to get us through so we know where we stand.

Patience over the next couple of months is needed. It’s just simply too early in all of the treatments to tell if we are onto somthing or not. I know thats not what you want to hear, but thats really how it is.

Are you all out drinking together?

No but having met the “crew”, if we were it would be one helluva good session

The waiting room humour gets us through I think…

DUDE… theyre on double antibiotics… you really think they go out drinking… come on man!!

I think that with the inflammation of the prostate, we should look beyond just messages and antibiotics. A huge cause of prostate inflammation (other than / in combination with infection) is prostaglandin e2. This is made via the COX-2 enzyme, so naturally a COX-2 inhibitor would in theory, help keep inflammation to a minimum. I think a COX-2 inhibitor should be used in combination with the messages and antibiotics if an infection(s) is found.

Hormonal imbalance and stress leads to high prostaglandin e2, and I think it safe to say that we all suffer from various degrees of both, especially at the onset of our crashes!

The COX-2 enzyme turns Arachidonic Acid into prostaglandin e2, which inflames the prostate. Now (how dumb is this), I remember about 1-2 years post crash, I actually supplemented with Arachidonic Acid for a few weeks. I used it because it actually has some anabolic effects to it. I remember I ended up stopping because it was making my prostate go crazy, really sharp pains would shoot up there every now and again.

Lowering COX-2 should also lower histamine which also is involved in inflammation, raise healthy prostaglandin e1 and e2, and probably raise NO2 as well.

Seriously, take an extra strength tylenol…and see in an hour or 2 if your penis seams less “dead”…

Some COX-2 inhibitors
Curcumin
Carvacrol
Zyflamend
Superdosed fish oil (10+g)
Tylenol (extra strength)
Ginger
Berberine
Green Tea

Magnesium is also very important as it soothes the pelvic floor muscles and de-stresses ourselves.

\Google “hard flaccid”. This are boat loads of stories that sound IDENTICAL to ours, but these guys got here through various means…over-masterbation, extacy use, too much jelking, severe OCD, etc, etc, etc

Its because they don’t have the means to detect the infections in them thats why they think its hormonal or due to other factors. If the inflammation in the prostate was only hormonal , with all the anti-estrogens and testosterone we have used it should have subsided. Or with the dexamethasone and cortisol.
I was also in this dark age environemt for years till i found that there are labs that can reveal what’s going on and how many infections can co-exist.

By the way, last night my sleep was interrupted because of the recurring erections.
Endless dreaming and erections at least 3-4 times woke me up.

Boston in one of his PMs told me to go check my prostate again and again, he was onto something in 2007, but i resented that idea, foolishly.
He mentioned about a friend of his that had such symptoms and would down cipros for 2 weeks and feel better then if symptoms would reappear we would do a second treatment and it would go down a lot.
But his friend didn’t do any drenching massages. There seem to be some antibiotics that can initially help, before the calcifications build up (residues of inflammation that is which are hardened areas and serve as biofilm for the infectious particles to multiply).
Boston then did go for the massages and felt better i also recall his PMs, i wish i didn’t erase it.

Noone took him seriously back then

and he hasnt been back in over two years… which should tell you something…

Boston? he PM’d me very recently telling me he is nearly there!

Interesting…

I like this thread, alot!

Amazing to see such good humour among people suffering so greatly. I went for Awor’s study and had the penis biopsy recently. The night before, we sat at a restaurant eating food, talking about how good or not our erections were and how absent our libido’s. Not your average tea time conversation. I really wish I had a recording of that night, it would be good comedy to listen back to.

I’m not sure which theory I stand behind, but I am perturbed by the fact I did some light prostate massaging recently with a pro-state prostate massager and now I can no longer get an erection and maintain… before I could do (with some effort to begin with). I literally played around with my prostate the tiniest bit and it seems to have dessimated me sexually…

I’m actually quite calm regarding this however, because if such a small amount of prostate massage can literally turn off a switch like that, then it should be just as easy to turn it back on, but the massage needs to be correct. Note the phrase “turn off a switch”, i think many of us relate to this. For me, this adds some weight to the prostate theory. Finasteride would have inflicted a whole lot worse damage than a small and clearly incorrect prostate massage. Therefore, the healing process would be longer and a specific, very unique type of treatment to correct. Possibly Dr G’s.

It has got me wondering…

Prostaglandin E2 in prostatitis and prostatic adenoma

The measurement of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) concentrations in the serum and prostatic fluid of healthy men, patients with prostatic hyperplasia and of patients with prostatitis was attempted and correlated to the state of disease, respectively. PGE2-concentrations with prostatic fluid of healthy men were found to be significantly lower than in patients with prostatitis. Corresponding to the course of treatment concentrations normalized, being favorably influenced by sitosterin as an adjuvant medication. Compared to healthy men, PGF2 concentrations in the prostatic fluid of patients with hyperplasia of the prostate incline to lower levels.

Can you elaborate? Are you talking about the same Boston?

Interesting.

Solon, you mentioned before that Herthoge believes we are experiencing inflammation. Can you tell us anything else he said…did he COMPLETELY rule out hormonal theories?

Anyone have any thoughts on this place?

torontoprostatitis.ca/treatment.htm

I googled his name (kaploun) and read mixed reviews. Place is in Toronto.

Boston was very sure about his results with the antibiotics back then. We just didn’t bother making the connection, because we were stuck on the need of treating with hormones before anything else. Ok maybe most of us like me tried the herbal and vitamin route too.
Well… It took me a couple of years to try all them hormone approaches over and over again under the guidance of the best found doctors with offcourse ZERO results. Actually using hormones was a bad period of my life, lab tests were all so good but physically i sucked, sexually i was non-existent with all that testosterone cortisol and estradiol balancing i wondered what was left to do.
So much testosterone and no hair loss, and three weeks into antibiotics and massages and i get stiff strong muscles and rapid hair loss and strong boners. Very surprised.
