Prostatitis treatment as a novel insight into Finasteride related problems

.

FML I used acne antibiotics for about a year of PFS, and HC for a month or so. FML!

Ok i just wanted to say my story potentially fits this explanation because i have quite bad prostate pains. My prostate on a PR exam was painful and i was prescribed doxycycline which helped. I then took this for a long period of time which did help me a bit (in most aspects) but did not cure me. I’m not taking it now and although i’ve slipped back a little i’ve retained some positives recently.

I have taken tribulus in the past and i noticed increased androgen activity, improved erections, increased sweating, increased libido BUT i felt like shit and my prostate pains got worse.

Other things i’ve noted is that one of you mentioned vision improved with treatment. Care to elaborate a little? Also the leg thing people mention as well - i have this issue.

I have pursued awors idea and do think it may be relevant but the prostate pain is not a symptom that ties in with it. Also my experience with doxy suggests to me it might have been addressing a cause of the problem.

I’m not putting all my eggs in one basket but i look forward to other peoples experiences with this cocktail of antibiotics and prostate massages. Also i am aware solonjk has been around for a while.

This was posted elsewhere, but just in case anyone missed it, it’s worth repeating. Turns out that 5AR inhibition is not so good for the prostate, big surprise, right?

FDA Says Prostate Drugs Can Cause Cancer[/size]

If you are a victim of prostate cancer or had a prostatectomy and were treated with Proscar, Propecia, Avodart or Jalyn prior to your diagnosis, your medication, known as a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, or 5-ARI, could be to blame.

In June 2011, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) informed healthcare professionals that the Warnings and Precautions section of the labels for these drugs was being updated to include information about their association with high-grade prostate cancer, a more serious form of the disease.

Proscar, Propecia, Avodart or Jalyn users diagnosed with high-grade prostate cancer may be eligible for compensation. The defective drug lawyers at Parker Waichman Alonso LLP are experienced in defective drug litigation and are offering free lawsuit evaluations to 5-ARI high-grade prostate cancer victims and their families. Proscar, Propecia, Avodart or Jalyn users and High-Grade Prostate Cancer

Proscar (finasteride 5 mg), Avodart (dutasteride), and Jalyn (dutasteride and tamsulosin) are approved to improve symptoms of an enlarged prostate gland (benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH). Proscar and Avodart are also approved to reduce the risk of urinary retention or surgery related to an enlarged prostate. Propecia (finasteride 1 mg) is approved to treat male pattern hair loss. According to the FDA, approximately 5 million male patients received a prescription for a 5-ARI medication between years 2002 to 2009. Of these, nearly 3 million patients were between the ages of 50 and 79 years old.

In a Drug Safety Community Publication issued on June 9, 2011, the FDA said the decision to modify the labels of 5-ARIs was based on its review of two large, randomized controlled trials–the Prostate Cancer Prevention Trial (PCPT) and the Reduction by Dutasteride of Prostate Cancer Events (REDUCE) trial. Together these trials involved 27,000 men 50 years of age or older who used either Proscar or Avodart for several years. According to the FDA, while both trials demonstrated an overall reduction in prostate cancer diagnoses with use of the drugs, this was mainly due to a decreased incidence of lower risk forms of prostate cancer. Both trials, in fact, saw an increased incidence of high-grade prostate cancer with finasteride and dutasteride treatment.

As a result of these two studies, the labels of all FDA-approved 5-ARIs will now include new information that they may increase the risk of high-grade prostate cancer. The product labeling will also state that 5-ARIs are not approved for the prevention of prostate cancer. The labeling of Propecia, although not a treatment for enlarged prostate, was also changed to reflect the possibility of an increased risk of high-grade prostate cancer because Propecia contains 1 mg of finasteride, the same active ingredient in Proscar.

High-grade prostate cancer is an aggressive type of prostate cancer, meaning it grows and spreads faster compared to low-grade prostate cancer. According to the FDA, high-grade prostate cancer is a serious disease, but accounts for a small portion of all diagnosed prostate cancers. In its Drug Safety Communication, the FDA said it continues to believe that the benefits of 5-ARIs in treating enlarged prostate still outweigh their risks. The FDA said men taking these drugs should consult a healthcare professional to discuss their risks and benefits. Men should not stop taking their medication unless directed to do so by a healthcare professional.

Hey, to those wondering: i’ve got a flu and i’m in fever so i try to rest as much as possible.

Yes. I know for certain that the creatine monohydrate i cycled twice/affected me for 2 months infected my seminal vessicles for worse ergo yellowish, hazy, thick ejaculation. It’s such a bad idea to use hormones while you have a prostatitis.

This is a joke. Such strong antibiotics are not “harmless” or “completely safe”. The net is full of long term side effects of strong antibiotics like Cipro. But we have to make a choice, lifetime of PFS or trying the antibiotics knowing their possible side effects. Make an educated decesion and pick your poison.

I think we can agree that the likelihood of this happening is about the same percentage of someone developing PFS (extremely rare). You shouldn’t be doing much besides working on your tan when you’re not getting anal probed whilst in Kos anyhow…

Sounds like a red flag to me. Propecia is also pushed by many derms and docs as being “safe” and “harmless”, however we know that is not the case.

and for 99% of them, it is…were just the unlucky few…

Which is why it will turn out that we are cureable. Its hard to imagine us ‘few’ are predisposed to develop these super-rare side effects. I was on this stuff for 6 days…my friend took fin for almost a year. Im fucked, he’s fine.

IF ANYONE IS GOING TO KOS IN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS, PLEASE PM ME. I WILL KNOW MY PLAN NEXT THURSDAY (WHETHER OR NOT IM GOING).

Exactly, that’s why I think the whole androgen resistant theory or the fact that this drug changed our DNA are totally bunk… M81 only took 4 pills of this stuff, and I only took the equivalent of 2.5 pills (.25mg + .25mg + .50mg + .50mg + .50mg). I cant see how so much permanent damage could be done with such little amount… We were probably just predisposed to this happening but its definitely not infinite…

Im with you.

Predisposed in that our prostates were succeptible to infection/already prone to prostatitis in some way, shape or form…thats the most logical thoery to date…and I CANT WAIT to get this TRUS done.

since this thread is already so long, i would like everyone to simply keep it focused on updates from trus scans, correspondence with urologist relating to prostatitis (especially those in Greece) etc - not new theories over antibiotics, genes, etc. lets all keep focused. thanks.

i asked solon to provide a new thread with people actually treated by georgiadis

possibly with the beginning weekly updated

if he has time will be great thing for us

I’ve been in contact with Dr G and im seriously contemplating going over. It’s a good time for me to go over.

I hope this is as legit as it sounds. I’ve become a little disillusioned with things; nothing seems to work.

He says the usual treatment requires 30 days of continuous treatment or you can get a 3 week treatment with double treatments every day of the 3rd week. It seems to be that that works for most, so im hopeful i can recover with that too. The four week course is best he says.

WHATS TO CONTEMPLATE!!!

If you really had any post-finasteride symptoms and you really believed any of this - you would already be there.

I would be.

Dude some people dont have 8000 Euros… Personally I want to see some cured guys who are members of this site before I buy a ticket…

Huh? This is not your thread…

PM me if youre going. I will know next thursday what my plans are.
