Prostatitis treatment as a novel insight into Finasteride related problems

What do you folks think of the Prostatitis Center in Tucson, Arizona? It says the doctor there has been trained by Feliciano. I know Georgiadis sometimes sees patients who Feliciano couldn’t cure, so being trained by Feliciano isn’t the best endorsement, but it seems like this is the best option for Americans who can’t make it to Greece if they want to try this type of treatment?

In the U.S., 3 options have been posted in this thread:

AZ Center: MD administers massages and antibiotics, teaches self massages for at-home continuation of treatment (Boston went here, recovered, then regressed)
SF Holistic/Alternative Center: uses a multi-disciplinarian approach (w/o antibiotics) to flush the system
NY / Dr. Toth: fertility doc turned Uro offers direct antibiotic injections into the prostate. cost is $300-$1000 a day for 10 days of treatment

An additional place in Florida: prostatitissurgery.com/Index_DMOA.php - though it says surgery in the URL, they offer prostate massage, antibiotics, etc.

I would call or e-mail these places, compare them against each other, and compare them with the international options, and then select the best one in your opinion.

Consider Solon’s point about creating resistant bacterial strains with failed attempts at eradication, when factoring in cost.

Do you think that a white blood cell count would be a useful test for guys trying to get an indication of whether or not this could be part of their problem?

And if others have already had this test, what were the results?

Guys

Just wanted to let you know that I’ve also been receiving treatment with Dr Georgiadis this week.
So far the only guys I know from this forum who are being treated this week are solonjk, gefinauser and me.

Dr. Georgiadis performed a trans rectal ultrasound of my prostrate on Monday and found inflammation and infection.
He started me off with one daily ‘prostrate area massage therapy’ per day and I am now on 2 treatments per day.

So far, after 10 therapies, I’ve noticed the following:

  1. My balls are hanging much better.

  2. I have A LOT more saliva in my mouth.

  3. I have more flexibility in my right leg.
This may sound weird but for the last few years I have felt that my right leg has been ‘shorter’ than my left leg. This is now gone completely.

  4. My eyesight and visual clarity has improved.
Just yesterday it felt like somebody flicked a switch and my eyes started working again. This is a symptom which i didn’t realise I had

  5. Yesterday I ejaculated and it came out with a lot more force than it has than before therapy. Before therapy my ejaculate would travel maybe 6 inches at most (i.e. more of a dribble)
But yesterday, when I ejaculated my semen reached 50cm away !! I couldn’t believe it.
I am hoping tht i will continue to see improvements.

  6. I have increased sensation in my genital region.

Dr. Georgiadis has put me on the following medication:

  • Vibramycin 100mg (2 tablets per day)
  • Seractil 400mg (2 tablets per day)
  • Glimbax 600mg ( 1 tablet per day)

As from today, i start double therapies, i.e 2 ‘prostrate area therapy massages’ per day.

For anyone going to see Dr Georgiadis , you’ll need around 3000 EUROS to cover the cost of treatment. You can expect the first few therapy sessions to be particularly uncomfortable. During the first session or two you may have a strong desire to urinate but this is normal due to pressure being exerted on the prostrate.

I am going to update this thread later in the week and hopefully I will have some more good progress to report.

I’m torn as to what to do. I have a constant ache in the prostate and ball pain. Do I need to go through the expense and time of a TRUS over here or should I just get over to Greece and have everything done at once?

If it meant going to Athens, how does it work? Do you have an appointment every day or do you have to queue. Just weighing up ideas.

check this out from a few years ago, despite its controversial nature and the…shall we say “quirky” manner of the original poster

…and Dr. Georgiadis’ approach.

How is everybody going to afford this?

Are there any members that know about loans etc? i am a student in the UK, any advice would be appreciated.

Wow, and he got banned… Does anybody know what sort of ‘protocol’ he used for his treatment?

Also, i got a PM off another guy saying that he is having benefits after 10 treatments in Greece.

Ahhahha that is awesome. check it out, solon…

he propably just took antibiotics for his prostatis. it hasn’t gone away for him, it’s pretty certain.

My white blood cell count is high, which would indicate my body is fighting off an infection. I had no other illness prior to taking the test either that could skew the results…

It could also explain why my side effects are not as bad as some other guys on this forum. My body is obviously trying to fight off something…

.

He used flagyl and was banned a few years back

solonjk, gefinauser, noniman, blase’, and all those who are being treated by Dr Georgiadis:

Do you guys know when you are stopping the antibiotic treatment?

WHere does he talk about using that? Didnt see it in the thread… link please?

.

wow this guy was right!! he was just really not to far from the solution he just had to link Chlamydia with prostatitis to understand better sexual sides…

I think I really met a smart and open-minded urologist. I went to see one more time the urologist who made me the diagnosis of prostatitis.
last time I was so relieved to have the diagnosis that I didn’t really insist that i believed propecia to be the cause.

Today I met him just to explain him this fact and he listen to me without taking me in consultation.
Just the perfect doc. he is good at what is he doing and he is ready to listen to his patients .
I explained him the “mystery” of propecia and the fact for some of us (if not more) the root of all the symptoms is prostatitis.

He is going to look at this forum.

Something was interesting:

  • the mother of one of my friend is a nurse (or something like this) in switzerland and she asked to some physicians what they know about persitent sides. It is documented that for finasteride some cases had “recovered” in months or years.

  • this uro. said to me that prostatitis stays a mysterious infection not really well-knowed, that it can be really hard to live with. He said that some guys could wait months or years to recover a “normal” sex-life.

It is just another similarity…

I just came across this thread from a link in my own member stories thread. My situation is odd in that I did not develop side effects while on Propecia. I began having sexual sides months after stopping Finpecia/Dutasteride. I now have numbness, occasional testicular ache and penis pain, and it’s difficult for me to get aroused at all. For many months Cialis worked great for me but then gradually lost its potency and I don’t feel like it does anything for me now.

How possible is it that I’m suffering from this same prostatitis issue?

Flagyl, aka Metronidazole is one of several antibiotics I took a few months ago on a 10 day antibiotic cocktail/cleanse for to eliminate any pathogenic gut bacteria (An “IBS protocol,” if you will). I took:

Metronidazole 500mg 3x a day
Amoxicillin 500mg 2x
Clarithormycin 500mg 2x

These drugs ripped me apart. I was shitting my brains out, wiped out, energy-less, could barely leave the house. Took another week or more to get back to feeling normal. I don’t know what this reaction means (one doc said it was “die-off.” As you can see, Metronidazole is indicated for a variety of things: medicinenet.com/metronidazole/article.htm

Fluconazole and Nystatin were also initiated at this time and taken for 2+ months (since discontinued pending more testing). These last drugs brought the return of morning erections. Several doctors have expressed that they have anti-inflammatory effects, either systemically or in the “intra-prostatic edema.”

I think that finasteride lowers DHT, lowers immune response, creates an environment conducive to malfunction, and susceptible to infections of all sorts. I recall feeling like my immune system was not working during my crash…infections, fungus, hives, itchiness, anxiety, etc.

Hmm…101% possible?
what’s your hormonal status?

give us some lh/fsh/testo/3-adiol-g numbers pls if you have
