Prostatitis treatment as a novel insight into Finasteride related problems

Has the doctor proposed a theory on exactly why finasteride may ‘speed up’ prostatitis? also, is he in Kos until September? i am literally waiting to see how a few people do with treatment. If there is success, i will have to beg my parents for money to see him.

Anybody else here suffering from twiching or exaggerated reflexes at all? I have both. Hyperrexfexia is mentioned here.

He’ll be to the late August.

Correction: im on 2 antibiotics and 1 painkiller. Pardon me.

It’s no wonder that you have fungual symptons - your prostrate and likewise immunity would be compromised due to inflammation. Fix prostrate inflammation first at Georgiadis, then look for antifunguals if you will.

For those of you that are concerned about candida overgrowth and fungus - have you considered caprylic acid?

Cuts both ways, I guess. A drop in libido or penile shrinkage are not the hallmarks of BPH. Most of these guys are taking fin for urinary issues (high frequency, weak stream etc), so you’d think they’d notice a precipitous drop in libido/penis size immediately. That said, there is a natural drop in libido and sexual performance in the general population starting in one’s 40s… slow but progressive…so by the time these gents hit their 50s/60s, they are prepared for (and indeed have already experienced) libidinal drops, which they would attribute to the aging process (and not the “wonder drug” reducing their urinary issues and warding off prostate cancer).

Before stumbling on this website (and realizing there were other ppl with the exact same symptoms that I have that also only took fin for a few days) I used to think that I was experiencing some kind of early andropause, at age 27!!! And that this premature state was the payment for a much too intense sex life until then (thought I had some kind of sexual exhaustion). And I almost came to accepting my situation, until I started talking about it to other people, and I then realized that it isnt in any way normal to experience such a drop in libido and sexual function at such a young age (especially when my sexual function had been way above average so far)!! Its only once I came here and read stories similar to mine that I really made the connection with finasteride.
So I can perfectly imagine that most men experiencing PFS in their 50’s/60’s would blame it on a natural hormonal decline brought on by the aging process !

For many PFS victims, that seems to be a consistent outcome – post-drug drop in Testosterone/LH/FSH and acquired hypogonadism within weeks of quitting the drug.

.

whether this problem is related to candida, bacterial microbes, “leaky gut”, yeast infections, or prostatis, it is CLEARLY related to food intolerances that propecia has brought about, the exact case seems to be some hybrid problem.

i have read about how a high alkaline in blood can kill off fungus, bacteria, viruses and that these things can’t even live in alkaline blood. some guy discovered it and got some science prize for it. it may be why the “candida diet” works (alkaline foods = green veggies, no sugar veggies). however, meat’s are acidic and many candida diets recommend it, so i’m not sure. some guy even beat his cancer by getting his blood very alkaline. here’s a good article and a great website regarding more natural approaches to the bacteria problem: health-science-spirit.com/candida.html (browse the other sections of the website, this guy is a genius)

solon is def. on the right path regarding this prostatis problem and it should be looked into. he is right when he says that anti biotics don’t work. i have seen others have luck with anti inflammatories, however, i’m not going to look into it because of like he said the harsh side effects. if you don’t want to change your diet, then this may be the choice for you if you want to risk putting this into your body.

i’m also wondering whether it’s the massages or the anti biotics solon was on that helped, although i can see how the combo can help the situation and can lead to a faster recovery. regarding the massages, not sure if this was posted here earlier, but in the book “a headache in the pelvis”, it says that most prostatis problems (like 90%) are caused by pelvic floor dysfuntion instead of bacteria. you can find physical therapy places that help with pelvic floor dysfuntion, so i dont think people here have to fly to greece for this. it’s like trigger pressure release that help kill inflammation and doing a lot of different therapy. yoga helps with many of these stretches.

if you guys want to start on some treatment plan, remove gluten, sugar, and acidic foods from your diet. acid blood = breeding ground for inflammations and bacteria. do some research on acid/alkaline foods and you can find out more on this. this is why different people have had recoveries i believe from a raw food diet or people who think it was leaky gut. whatever the problem was, the natural approach can help.

side note… some guy cured himself by claiming that he had copper toxicity and started on bile acids to cure this. according to the natural website i saw, the author said that hair loss is caused by copper/lead toxicity. just an interesting note regarding the nutritional aspect to this.

Bryce sorry but no.
I did the diet, no sugars, gluten at all for months and saw absoulutley no resolution in my “side effects”.
Also i used bile acids for months with no resolution of anything.
Unfortunantly pfs is far more complex than what you are suggesting.
Im not telling you this to be an ass, im passing on what happened when i thought that way and tried to cure it that way.

I did experience a marked decrease in penile sensitivity, some days to the point of “numbness”, but as I experienced (much later) with dopaminergics and testosterone boosters to bring some libido back I can tell you that penile sensitivity is mostly linked to libido. No libido, no pleasurable feeling down there (but I guess some people might have some nerves compressed by the prostatitis or something like that also)
All the other mental symptoms (brain fog, sleep problems, anxiety attacks, complacency/lack of motivation, lack of energy etc, even the lack of libido) I also attributed to a form of depression brought on by my sexual problems and other issues in my life. Now I know that the depression was directly related to finasteride.

and RE caprilyc acid, it’s one of the ingredients in NOW candida clear that I use. Not noticing much for it, but maybe it would be worse without it.

I do experience some twitching of some random leg muscles at night, didnt give it much thought (thought it was maybe caused by one of the numerous supplements I use), now maybe I can attribute this to the prostatitis?

What exactly is the painkiller for gefinauser? I guess you experience tremendous pain during the massages (at least the first few ones), but do you still feel pain afterwards? Do you think you couldnt do without it? Usually I prefer to “man up” and avoid pain killers if possible, but sometimes it’s just too much to handle, I just would like to know…

Over millions of years, humans evolved to eat meats, vegetables/leafy greens, nuts, berries.

The advent of cereal grains/agriculture brought on reduced human stature, lower brain capacity and disease.

This is a matter of evolutionary science, anthropological record, and copious research. The records show that our ancestors were more robust, had greater bone density, mineral composition, etc.

direct-ms.org/pdf/EvolutionPaleolithic/Cereal%20Sword.pdf

Never before have people been sicker or have obesity, diabetes (especially in children), heart disease and metabolic syndrome been more prevalent than in the last 50 years where society has adopted the government/medical community-recommended low-fat/high carb/vegetable oil/processed foods diets due to the distortion of the cholesterol scare.

We were meant to eat animals, the whole animal, with the most complete type of protein and amino acid profile, animal fat, including saturated fat, the accompanying fat-soluble vitamins, cholesterol, among many, many other things. We were meant to soak up vitamin D from the sun, the gradual build-up of melanin being our natural protector (vs. covering up with carcinogenic sunscreens). We weren’t meant to ride treadmills for hours daily, but rather thrived on short bursts of movement (interval training).

Put simply, if you want to reduce inflammation, disease, get fit, etc., try the paleo diet / primal diet / caveman diet / anti-candida diet. You’ll shed pounds without trying, without caloric restriction, you’ll lower your blood pressure, you’ll see improvements to your skin, your energy (after the initial adjustment period), you’ll improve your lipid profile (not the meaningless total cholesterol, but your triglycerides, HDL, and LDL subparticle Class size–what really matters) among other things. All while eating meat, salads, fats.

We don’t need fiber supplements, or more calcium (we need equal parts magnesium which has been stripped from our treated water like most beneficial minerals; and vitamin D), we don’t need whole grains at all (they are the anti-nutrient, gluten is just one such culprit). We don’t need highly oxidizable vegetable oils, or trans fats, or high fructose corn syrup. We don’t need soy, soy is absolutely not healthy. We don’t need 90% of the suggested foods, supplements and pharmaceuticals that are constantly marketed to us. We need the natural stuff (grass-fed beef with proper omega 3 to 6 ratio & fat distribution, fish, fowl, eggs, fruits, veggies, etc.)

Will this magically fix your E.D.? Doubt it. But 2 weeks of casual compliance on the “anti-candida” diet ain’t gonna cut it. I’ve been eating a doctor-issued “paleo” diet for 9 months, and it has rid me of IBS, it has eradicated dermatitis, it’s lowered my BP, it’s made me super-lean and I have solid morning erections once more. It’s not even a diet to me: it’s a matter of “these foods screw me up, these tasty formerly forbidden foods don’t.” Do I think that candida plays a role in our health profile? Yes, I think that some of us here have susceptible immune systems (fucked by finasteride? and chronic prostatitis?), gut issues, infections/fungus/nasty stuff…you know who you are. When I cheated and ate some chocolate a week ago, I had facial dermatitis breakouts, a swift reminder of why I altered my diet. But I think this is just a part of our health profile, a symptom and a clue. I think not just for PFS, but for overall health, and as a foundation to PFS recovery, one would be wise to explore this way of eating/exercising/thinking, despite the entrenched preconceived notions we all carry.

paleodiet.com/ excellent links and book reading list for source data (at the bottom)

Man, I hate how much of a preachy zealot I’ve become. I swear, I had no bad feelings towards McDonald’s just a few years ago…

You can always go to Athens as an option.

Hey Solonjk, are you still getting good morning erections like you mentioned earlier in the thread?

For myself that is one area that i have seen zero improvement.

Anybody’s who is coming to Kos now: forget the probiotics for now, they will only interrupt and lessen the antibiotics impact.
Candida and any other infection and parasites will certainly prevail as long as prostrate is infected. Likewise forget ZMA and other supplements when on the antibiotics. Preferably leave the stuff back home and don’t use anything for a week before coming here. You don’t want the pathogen enviroment change within the prostrate during this time so you aren’t going to need any of that. If you want probiotics then eat 3 cowmilk youghurt (costs 2.50e) as the last snack before sleep from the closest supermarket. After the prostrate is cleared CERTAINLY, start eating eg. Danone probiotic youghurt or even probiotics if you feel like it. After the treatment. Budget is that 0.80e is usually a 1.5 litre water bottle (three times a day min) and food costs daily are around 10-12e.

Thanks for that useful post. I will keep my probiotics for after the treatment. On ZMA you know it hasnt proven to be really effective on testosterone production anyway (unless you were zinc deficient) but it does improve sleep so I think I would still be taking it, at a lower dose. The magnesium I was talking about was to counteract the effect of fluoroquinolones that have been proven to chelate magnesium in joints, leading to sometimes grave tendon issues. Have you read the link that ive posted? (posts from user “ciprovictim01” on this forum)

Don’t - zinc actually is known being a mild aromatose inhibitor for estrogen but also for DHT itself and you don’t want that to happen. Lower dose, well i don’t know - If i recall right, some pathogens feed on zinc. Magnesium will argh, permit antiobitcs working properly for the lack of better words. It delays them i think. Like i said, don’t bring any. Good sleep won’t help and you should get proper sleep by yourself anyways on daily basis. Your good sleep and testosterone production will recover when you recover so just let the doc work on you along with the antibiotics. And the friggin mediterrain sun likely makes you feel good :stuck_out_tongue:

actually thanks for that username, i guess taking magnesium inbetween the doses is a good idea! Fuck, i better raise this issue in the evening with Georgiadis.

Well my house is actually only 9kms away from the mediterranean sea and I go to the beach pretty much every other day, and it’s very sunny right now in southern France… But I know it’s even hotter in Greece (have lived there before).

About magnesium and antibiotics, where did you get that? Did Dr G tell you this?
Here is where I got the idea :

I know it’s “immature rats” we’re talking about, but still tendon issues (even rupture) in humans with quinolones have been observed many times. I lift heavy weight 4 times a week and plan to keep doing so while in Kos (maybe only 3 days a week and lighter weights) to keep in shape, and I dont want to take any chance to rupture a friggin tendon!!!
