I think from what I gather is that there are “ranges,” just like there are ranges for Testosterone, and you know that those ranges are wide, useless, and mitigated by other factors. So it sounds like what they’re saying is that size isn’t as relevant as inflammation of the entire architecture of your uro-genital system. At 32 years of age, myself, with a 14cc prostate, this is an area of concern for me. But I can’t ignore my symptoms much longer. These guys say that it is the symptoms and other signs of inflammation with all the testing that determine whether it’s prostatitis.
Wow, incredible news! That must be a relief, having a pretty certain idea that you have the condition first. Smart to move on it so fast.
Did you get copies of the ultrasound pictures by any chance? Or did the doctor point out the areas of inflammation? Was there something that you could really notice on the ultrasound images if you had to guess about inflammation? Or was it something that his trained eye pointed out that wasn’t that noticeable to you? Thanks and good luck!
Yea I understand that, but surely there must be something that can be deduced from the size of the prostate alone. Especially when we are on the other side of the world and that’s all we have to go by…
Sorry to add to the already growing requests, but to Gefinauser, Solonjk and all the others already seeing Pavlos, does he screen for fungus along with bacterial pathogens? I know for a fact that i’ve had (and still have to this day, my balls are very RED) persistent fungal infections to my genitals, for years, that resist to most topical antifungals. I suspect that if I do have a prostatitis (which im almost convinced of now) the cause could very well be the fungus (maybe alongside another bacteria gathered during my intense pre-fin sex life).
I am afraid that taking massive antibiotics with no antifungals would only worsen the fungal infection (antibiotics kill the good bacterias that control fungus).
ANd so far I have only read Georgiadis mentionning bacterial infections, bacterial tests and antibiotics, never fungus.
Could someone (solonjk, gefin, j89, poga?) answer me about that?
Thanks
EDIT
You know what, just realized I should directly ask Pavlos about this, but please still answer if you can
I’ve tryed most topical antifungals, and when I used Nizoral shampoo i also used it on my dick when I had a fungus flare up. Dont remember it to work so well. Then I stopped nizoral because it is proven to be a 5AR inhibitor… And I wouldnt like to use this so close to my prostate. Thanks for your contribution anyway!
No problem. I used the topical 2 % cream to treat the irritation I mentioned. I too, stopped using this medication after hearing sketchy things about it. Selenium Sulfide (main ingredient in Selsun Blue shampoo) proved to be a more effective treatment for my dermatitis (which is why I possessed the Niroral cream in the first place). Diet became even better treatment (elimination of sugar / processed or starchy carbs which feed fungus). Finally, after a couple of months of Nystatin, zero dermatitis, zero need for any medication or treatment (I’ve been completely med free for nearly a month). Only flare up I had was when I recently cheated with some chocolate and ice cream; I treated the red spots on my face w/ selsun blue and gone w/in a few days. I do nothing on a daily basis to treat my skin.
EDIT: oh yeah, most over the counter cortisone creams also work, but consider side effects (probably w/ long-term usage)
Weird. I have exactly the same thing, although it reacts to hydrocortisone so it may be eczema. When i crashed after i quit finasteride it got so much worse and won’t go away now. Also, i have always got boils/ spots on my buttocks since i was young and apparently that can be caused by staph. I crashed when i was away a lot using air conditioned rooms to sleep in too, which apparently is terrible for any infections.
I don’t know whether this has any connection to potential prostatitis though?
Also, the problem i have with any sort of infection potentially being responsible for my problems is that i just don’t believe it would cause such issues. Prostatitis is a different matter of course. I personally feel that my skin issues are more likely to have worsened due to shitty hormones directly caused by the use of finasteride.
Getfina or Solonjk: what does the doctor say about sexual activity (masturbation or intercourse) during prostatitis, including the use of PDE5 inhibitors to do so?
Solon (if you feel comfortable posting)–are you having unassisted sex with your girlfriend now?
Off topic, but I cant beleive I’m goigng back to Greece for THIS
Ironically funny that my favorite greek insult used to be “Na kserathi o poutso sou”, which is pretty much what has happened to us!!!
Solon, thanks again for your answer, this is pretty much what I expected.
Back to sex : I think I heard someone mentionning a girlfriend, I guess you arent single? My friend that is coming with me, also has a girlfriend… I hope to find another PFS guy on Kos that is not in a serious, commited relationship so we can chase together the nordic mounara tourists to test our improvements on the sexual front as the therapy progresses
Interesting. Are you saying that you really don’t have any major prostate discomfort (frequent urination, burning, pain etc.)? what signs do you see that tell you that there is something wrong with your prostate?
Also, when the doctor found an inflammed prostate, was it the size or something else which resulted this conclusion. I am sure you’ll benefit from this treatment.
Yeah I know, can you imagine how much it sucks to be a frenchman with PFS??? Especially with the recent Dominique Strauss Kahn scandal… I must admit that as a 32yo virtually impotent male with close to no libido, I pretty much envy that sixty-something libidinous bastard…
Just make sure you wrap up your pecker, because I think I’m gonna be following you guys to Kos in August and am also partial to Scandinavian women, and don’t want any of your disrty sloppy seconds, lol.
Again, if anyone is plotting for August in Kos, contact me. If anyone wants to get my email address who’s going before me and wants to possibly meet up while our treatment periods overlap, PM me.
What’s the deal with getting to Kos from Athens? Is it a one day trip? Is it something you should purchase in advance? Any tips on that, folks? Thanks.
By the way, I let this slip, but i think this is the first time that you mention this explanation for a “symptom” that a lot of us have : depressed immune system (very obvious in my case, compared to pre-fin).
Man I really hope that Dr G will confirm the prostatitis…
