Progesterone treatment?

I guess I can update. I had a few sodas recently after quitting for three weeks and I only felt very slightly foggier and it didn’t reduce my personality which I largely gained back when starting progesterone, so I think it’s safe to say it’s the progesterone that has nearly eliminated my brain fog. It feels so great to have at least some of my personality back. Even when I stop using the cream the gains seem to remain. Sexually, things are the same as before prog if not a little worse, although I have had a few hints of libido and pretty intense orgasms a couple times in the last week, so maybe it’s something you have to stick with. As with any kind of protocol you read on here it’s going to be wildly different person to person. One thing I can definitely confirm is the “bounceback” effect others have mentioned. When I first used it I really felt like crap after a week or so of use, so I stopped. Then after a few days my mind cleared and my personality returned. It still might not work for a lot of people so definitely listen to your body, but if you’re in your first rough patch just stick it out, then see what happens during your first round of off days. If there’s no bounceback effect then prog probably isn’t going to do much for you. What’s really interesting is when I first used it months ago I got worse, like elb. MASSIVE brain fog. Now it seems to be helping. I wonder why that is. I would also recommend cleaning up your diet and working out while doing the protocol. Don’t just smear some cream on yourself and sit around waiting for it to cure you. Unless you REALLY luck out and stumble upon something that clicks your body into place, there is no magic bullet cure for PFS, just things that help your body repair itself over time alongside your own hard work.

Just sharing my experience with progesterone:

I started using it like 2 months ago I think, it initially made me feel worse but after some days I noticed that 4 hours after applying the cream I felt better. Sleep has become better, too. I then stopped the cream after 1 month and didn’t feel any big difference so I thought no need to take it anymore.

On new years eve I was pretty drunk. Now I regret it … 2 days after new years eve I started to get anxious again and sleep got worse. I then applied some of the progesterone cream and it made me initially feel better again.

My plans are now to try stanodrol (converts to DHT like androhard but is not so expensive), together with progesterone. Btw. DHT is a strong antagonist of estrogen, that may explain why we are effected so negatively by estrogen. Regular workout routine and healthy clean diet are already in my protocol.

Starting another round of prog. Added pregnenolone and some thyroid supplement into the mix. I’ll keep you posted, although I have bloodwork on Friday and I want to try a fast after that so it may be a while.

Here’s another option for DHT… Recommended by my doctor.
Andractim

It’s a transdermal DHT cream which does NOT affect estrogen, FSH or LH. I’m on day 10 and feel better as a result. Sex drive is much better.

And for those with cognitive sides, check out EmpowerPlus by TrueHope. It’s a combination of 36 vitamins and minerals, many of which are already mentioned on this site.
I’m on week #2 so far and depression is nearly gone, but I still have phases of sadness over my pending divorce and missing my kids.

Andractim is well known in members of this forum. It definitely affects the axis, especially fsh, no matter what your doctor said to you. Some people had good results, but most did not get any real benefits using it.

Quick update.

I feel great,

90% cured mentally
100% cured sexually

Penis is working exactly as it should and has done for over a month now.

  • rock hard morning erections
  • penis warm and full
  • spontaneous erections (!!!)
  • huge libido
  • don’t feel rubbish after masturbating
  • Testicles full

Mentally I have a little bit of residual fog mainly caused by my dodgy vision but that is always improving.

  • Return of emotions and personality 95%
  • vision 70% - annoying but I have a plan for this - will keep you updated
  • I wake up feeling completely normal in the morning which is AMAZING
  • sleep is completely normal
    etc etc

I’ve been on prog for just over 2 months now and will be continuing it for at least another 2 months.

All you guys trying it here and there need to stop fucking around and follow the protocol. Just do it properly - 2 weeks on 4 days off for at least a few months.

Elb, all your doing is progesterone? Or are you doing pregnenolone?

Jesus, is this possible? I mean it’s my initial theory and the most logical assumption that finasteride insidiously destroyed progesterone receptors in the brain leaving even abnormal amounts of estrogen as the dominant sex hormone in our brain/CNS. If you read the studies I use to post , there were studies purposefully using finasteride to destroy progesteone, called a PR knockout.

I am convinced, I have slowly getting better but I’m willing to give this a shot. 2 weeks on, 4 days off

Progesterone / Allopregnanolone definitely has something to do with our condition, but I’d rather think that the problem is a permanent reduced 5a-reductase activity in certain tissues (brain, prostate, …) which leads to low Allopregnanolone and DHT concentrations. But on the other hand, I really don’t have a clue

Just noticing that most of my symptoms are more DHT concerned than progesterone concerned.

You said before you had a rollercoaster effect where you went from crappy to awesome and back again. Is that still happening or is it constant now? And how did things progress from then to now? Like how did you feel, what did you observe? I’m trying to compare it to my progress. Thanks.

Not sure if you mean me but I can answer to that. I had this rollercoaster effect when I was using tamoxifen, 4 weeks were awesome and then within 1 week I got back to where I started. Then after my 10 days waterfast, I began to get constantly better and I still do feel much better than 4 months ago (before fasting). I don’t take any medications anymore and dropped like half of my supplements, of which I thought before they were absolutely necessary. I also began to workout regularly, 2-3 times a week. 1 month ago I tried Iboga which was a good decision, but it only helped me being more social and optimistic, no other lasting effects I’m aware of. Nevertheless I would do it again, if it wasn’t that expensive.

In the last time I had good weeks and not so good weeks but they are still ok, I wouldn’t call it rollercoaster effect anymore. I guess that’s because there are things I do or eat that I’m not aware of that they affect me (like masturbation, which I think I’m doing too often). I am much more social and am optimistic about my future right now, although I’m still not 100% (more like 80%). In the last 4 months I did more progress than in the 1,5 years before.

My plans are to stick with my workout routine, the progesterone and try out stanodrol to get some DHT and boost 5a-reductase activity.

Fina – I know you’ve also written earlier in this thread about using Progesterone on several occasions. Do you think this might have played a role in the gradual improvement you’ve described?

I was asking elb but your post helps, too. Thanks for sharing. Glad you’re doing well. The fast seems to have been a huge leap in improvement for you. I’m going to try one soon myself I think.

Me too, everyday I am more convinced that PFS can be dominated only with strict diet, exercise and positive thinking.
No medicine or supplement can equal our ability to recover. They are just tools, like progesterone cream.
Don’t fast alone. Find a clinic. The price is high but it is worth it.

Recentquitter- I have to admit after each short use I had a very big rebound affect with sustained improvements. I also got this from alcohol use which also increases progesterone levels in the brain.

costa- you once wrote could mini crashes be good for us. I actually wrote a topic about a year ago entitled “are crashes good for us?” The basic premise was from every major down swing I had, I had a huge upswing with some sustained improvements

It was pure theoretical, but i believe we have to keep pushing our bodies to react and recover. I would suggest everybody to try methylation treatment with folate, b12 and b6. The reduced oxidative stress environment certainly aids with recovery.

Been reading through this thread and will wait to hear back from everyone who is on the protocol to see what happens when they get off of it completely. The only side effects I believe I still have are decreased libido with all others being cured.

To those on the protocol : When you’re trying a protocol that could be the “cure” to something and a forum full of people are watching your updates, you might feel that you want to exaggerate effects or even say that you’re cured / better / improving because that keeps the spotlight on you. For the sake of everyone on here please do your best to be as accurate in your improvements (or lack of) as possible so people don’t waste time and money if it ends up not being a permanent fix. I’m not trying to insinuate that anyone here is doing that at all, I’ve just seen it happen in other threads. - We don’t need false hope, we need real solutions.

Thanks for testing all of this out and posting the results, definitely enjoying it and hoping the best for you guys.

I must say, after a total of three weeks on this protocol, I feel no different, if anything worse. I’ve just lost a shit ton of hair, no real improvements. Ill go for another week and then probably can it. Pretty disappointing.
