Is Neurotransmitter therapy the key to recovery?

You are a hypocrit. So am i though.

Which Supplement exactly has helped you to regain Deep Sleep?

If your looking for deep sleep you donā€™t need to look any further than Phenibut.

UK,
I didnā€™t tolerate Phenibut well. It was a very weird feeling while I have taken it. Therefore it is not for me.

I have been taking so many things itā€™s hard to know exactly and I was only sleeping deep temporarily and effects wore off, like with everything else. After the deep sleep I woke up completely cured for a day. I want to pursue the sleep angle. I have an appointment with a sleep specialist on Thursday. Stay tuned for an update

I was inspired by JNā€™s story and noticed that he too had had some luck with doing a detox for heavy metals. I decided to try again with heavy metal detox, but this time, a different program because the stuff my neurotransmitter doc gave me was expensive and hard to take. I bought renew life heavy metal cleanse 30 day program from the local health food store.

I took a dose last night and already Iā€™m starting to feel better. Damn near perfect REM sleep and as I am typing this I am getting my moods back. I woke up sweaty and stinky, smelling like a man should and the blank space, the emotional void, in my head is gone. I think Iā€™m going to continue updating my story with how Iā€™m doing with this, or maybe even start a new thread on this topic.

Thatā€™s fantastic, Joetz. I would suggest this topic is deserving of its own thread, particularly if others take a shot at it.

Iā€™m looking forward to following your progress.

Joetz,
Sounds very good. Can you Tell me what you have taken exactly. I am from Germany and i would like to order it as well.

If you donā€™t want to wait and see how Iā€™m doing and want to jump in and try something try buying the renew life heavy metal cleanse 30 day program. Thatā€™s what I am using now but I am only on my 2nd (and 1/2) day

When I pee it smells absolutely disgusting, like melted plastic, but it seems to be working. I feel a lot better and am looking forward to progressing further

thank you joetz.
I think I will order it soon.
I will also keep you updated of my situation.

Joetz,

Have you ever posted your base line neurotransmitter levels? Iā€™d like to see if others have similar patterns:

Low Norepinephrine
Low Epinephrine

Low GABA
Low Serotonin

Everything else is with in normal range.

Droit, did the doctor that gave you those tests suggest any means of boosting the readings?

Droit -

What method was used to measure your neurotransmitter levels? Blood/urinalysis isnā€™t accurate because levels in these fluids wonā€™t match levels inside the blood brain barrier where concentrations are highest and neurotransmitters are most active. Iā€™d also be curious to know how the ā€œnormal rangeā€ was determined. To the best of my (and my neurologistā€™s) knowledge, there arenā€™t any reliable ways to test neurotransmitter levels.

Iā€™m not implying the neurotransmitter approach is invalid in any way, as I believe it is extremely pertinent. However, when I was at my worst, I spent some money that I wish I had now one some false hopes in psuedoscience.

Take care,

Former

Another good read:

jackkruse.com/?s=Neurotransmitters

UK20,

The method for boosting the readings is typical and uninteresting:

3 Tyrosines/day
2 5-HTP (one at 200 mg in the morning and the an afternoon dose of 50 mg).

I think what is more interesting is specifically the low Norepinephrine and Epinephrine but not dopamine. Norepinephrine and Epinephrine are manufactured by the adrenals. This data coupled by my low saliva cortisol values suggests destroyed adrenals.

Iā€™d be interested in seeing the patterns from others.

Former,

Youā€™re right urinalysis is controversial. Nora Gedgaudas talks about it here:

primalbody-primalmind.com/?p=366

But lets be honest, the results mirror the symptoms.

I have wanted send this to joetz as a PMā€¦but thought it would help in the discussion ā€¦so posting here

I have read your thread through the whole

It looks similar to the recovery thread posted by the user ā€˜letsconvenienceā€™
He got cured just by raising his dopamine.and after that coupled by naturopathy(he has got too much copper in his liver and brainā€“hence the brain fog)

I believe we all will get the answer to this problem by following a similar pattern

After reading the book ā€˜the edge effectā€™ i am more than certain it is the deficiency of all the neurotransmitters that is causing our problem. If you get a chance please read the book

In the book it has been mentioned that severe dopamine deficiency will cause
ā€œcirrhosis of the liverā€,ā€œmultiple endocrine disorderā€ ā€“ the state which we are in right now
thyroid and adrenals are part of the endrocrine system

I,myself have been on naturopathy treatment(hair mineral analysis from holistic-back-relief.com) since march of this year.

My results showed me i have

  1. toxic minerals like aluminum,arsenic,cadmium,lead
  2. adrenal fatigue
  3. hypo thyroid
  4. impaired digestion
  5. impaired immune system
  6. liver & kidney stress

It has really been a pain swallowing close to 30 mineral and vitamin tablets everyday prescribed to me,but it was nothing compared to the hell i am in

I have not been cured through,but i have been feeling a little better on the treatment.sleeping better,thinking a little better,have a good energy(nothing compared to pre-propecia ā€¦ but a lot better)
my naturopathy treatment protocol is basically for the stabilizing my ā€˜adrenal-fatigueā€™,ā€˜getting toxins out of my bodyā€™,ā€˜my thyroid disorderā€™ and ā€˜getting my immune system upā€™

The hair mineral analysis costed me like $150 ,and like $500 for supplementsā€¦just in case you want to know

hey joetzā€“

could you please go through the naturopathy route to get rid of the toxins off you body and stabilizing your thyroid and adrenals and then go-on getting your neurotransmitters in order
Hope this cures us allā€¦

I will, I am convinced weā€™re NOT sick because of hormones. Iā€™ve gone down the route of letting endocrinologists fiddle with hormones and it never got me anywhere. The best gains are from detox and neurotransmitter therapy, but the neurotransmitters wonā€™t work right if you have any degree of mercury poisoning because the mercury interferes with the neurotransmitters

Iā€™ll keep the updates coming, but itā€™s going to take time. Iā€™ve got about 10 more days to go on the detox

Joetz,

Can you confirm you tested low in dopamine? I donā€™t see that in my results - Just low epi/norepi. However the PFS symptoms do mimic low excitatory dopamine.

Dopamine functions as both an excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitter (depending on the dopaminergic receptor site it binds to). Normal dopamine, but with PFS symptoms, suggests that dopamine may be concentrating on itā€™s inhibitory roles and less so on excitatory roles such as focus and memory.

Iā€™m more interested in low adrenal function than heavy metals - frankly thereā€™s probably a lot of mercury in the population now given the high amounts of sushi we eat.

Interestingly warbler reported the same pattern of neurotransmitter levels here:

viewtopic.php?f=23&t=4481

But with high cortisol and high dhea which is what Dr. Wilson and Dr. Lam say is the first stage of adrenal fatigue.

drlam.com/articles/adrenal_fatigue.asp?page=2

I wonder if the ā€˜crashā€™ is when you hit stage III?

Unfortunately I have no idea where my levels are because the doctor never offered to show me the results of the urine test and I never asked him.

Adrenal function and metals go hand in hand because your adrenal function is going to suck if you have toxic levels of certain metals in your body, especially copper
