I was kind expecting it. You’ve exited the fasting mode, so your body must have started depending now on what you put in your stomach and I suppose it takes a certain time before it switches back to the fasting mode, but I guess it would probably be faster than if you we’re just beginning a fast. Your body has been cleaning itself and you don’t lose that, so in that sense, you’re not starting from zero. I think propeciAUS did something like that, but I’m not a doctor and wouldn’t be able to tell you if it’s not advisable or if it’s just fine.
Do some research on water fasting, it will help you stay motivated and keep you from hurting yourself. In order to conserve energy your body will down-regulate your sex drive to almost nothing. I had zero libido the entire time I was on my water fast; SHBG will be increased in times of fasting which will lower FreeTest levels and thus you will have lower libido. This is normal…imagine if you were out in the desert, starving and your body is living off its own fat but you were constantly craving sex; wouldn’t be good. - Your body knows what it’s doing.
Experienced 15 day water fast last month and had several improvements, My libido improved and I have no more brain fog, I believe that doing fasting at least 1 or 2 times a month can greatly help in recovery

Anyway…
During the month of November, I successfully fasted for twenty-one days, three weeks of nothing but de-ionized water. I think I drank about eight gallons total. Let me tell you all, I am still your PFS peer, but the improvements have been enormous. Better cognition, sleep, affect, etc. I can now count how many REM phases I make it through each night, rather than guess at one or two. I’m more socially responsive, more extemporaneously witty, and I feel more assertive in general, less like a pushover of a person. Also, I just feel better on the whole. Oh, and since breaking my fast, I also wake up with a stiffy EVERY MORNING.
HA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I love that part.
I’m going to hit the hay, up past my bedtime and all. More later (probably in a separate thread). Really happy to share this with you guys. Can’t wait for my next fast.
you betcha. erections are fuller and more sensitive, and i don’t lose them if i discontinue manual stimulation. it’s because i still feel…erotic? honestly, since breaking my fast, i’ve felt perverted at times on the level that i used to as a horny teenager. i’m sure if i abused my newfound state and beat it too much, i’d regress and lose what stamina i’ve acquired, though.
and yes, it has done something for premature ejaculation, though i’ll add that the increase in sensitivity and being much hornier during self arousal doesn’t help there
I see a couple of people posted on here about 15 hour a day fasts. I’m thinking about giving this a shot. How do you guys do them…do you have a meal in the morning and then go the rest of the day without? Or do you wake up and not eat anything for 15 hours and then have a meal?
@bostonusa2009: i did this one on my own. it’s as cheap as water and whatever container you choose to put it in. i chose deionized water and glass (which was considerably more expensive than plastic, but doesn’t leach).
@mark2012: of course the benefits didn’t last, dummy! jk, jk, but really, juice fasting offers benefits because you’re giving your digestive system a huge rest, and digesting food takes up a lot of energy. however, nothing compares to a true water fast, and i mean nothing. juice fasting is salubrious, but it doesn’t turn on the specific genes that consuming no calories/nutrients will.
I am thinking about going on a fast here in a few weeks, however my main issue with fasting right now is that I have social obligations which sort of keep me from being able to fast for an extended period of time. Anyways, that got me thinking, what if there was a way to compress three weeks of fasting into maybe just one or two weeks? In my opinion (this is what I am going to try), I am going to fast (water only) for at least two weeks, and during the initial week I plan on doing a little bit of running everyday. This is so that I can burn through surplus fat/calories much faster and hopefully get my body into the state where it can begin repairing itself much much quicker. Logically this seems pretty sound to me. What do you all think? Also, for all the people that fasted, how is your progress holding up?
as far as detoxing goes, this might speed up the process, putting a little extra stress on your renal system, but more than that i’d be worried about muscle wasting (have not done research, don’t quote me on this).
however, my intuition is that the longer your genes are coding differently, the more of a cumulative effect you’ll see. i’m sure there’s tons of crap in our bodies that needs to be removed (during my 3 weeks, my piss was yellow the whole time), but genes, man!
fast for as long as you can! no amount of time isn’t worth it. see tab’s thread on ADF (alternate day fasting) for some cool info. this may be easier for you to do, and not ineffective either.
I think I’m about to start a week long water fast. I’m just curious, is there a certain way I should come off the fast? When the fast is over can I go stuff my face with food or do you guys gradually come off it?
You should change your diet prior to the fast and after the fast. I read about one/two weeks of vegan like diet before the fast, unprocessed foods. Then when you finish the fast you go on the same diet, but very slowly, I mean little quantities at each meal. And you increase this amount in the following days. Drink enough water every day or you’ll dehidrate.
Still I’m of the opinion that for fasts longer than 3 days you should seek a doctor to supervise the fast.
PS- it seems that the biggest gains from a fast come at the second week, just in case…
PPS-avoid running and stand up slowly during the fast. One of the risks in a fast is to fall down.

tab is pretty spot-on with pre- and post-fast dieting. additionally, i can assure you that orthostatic hypotension (gettin dizzy when you stand up too quickly) is very real during fasting. you’ll lose some magnesium, which is heavily concentrated in the cardiovascular system. don’t worry though, the rumors about becoming mineral/nutrient deficient are untrue.
as someone who’s successfully completed 3 weeks of a purely deionized water diet (and felt like continuing it), i think doctor supervision would make the process unnecessarily expensive. insurance wouldn’t cover the bloodwork, and most doctors wouldn’t like it anyway. it’d be nice to know your heart rate and blood pressure on the daily, but the most pertinent measurement you can do at home if you have a scale. i stopped weighing myself everyday, i got so used to not eating and losing weight that i stopped caring so much. after going from a skinny ~155lbs to a nearly emaciated ~127lbs, my body went from preferentially consuming its fat stores to consuming what crap accumulated in my body over the last twenty-some years. i got in a bad car accident back in august, and the scars i obtained have faded considerably. i’ve also got a keloid that turned white and stopped growing, though its still elevated and it still itches from time to time.
Sorry pax I didn’t recall you wrote of your fast in this thread. Very nice to see you have improved a lot! really I’m happy for you and I hope you can gain even more.
I am writing a list of the fasters with the gains they made so we can keep some sort of statistics about pfs sufferers and fasting. For what I see, the longer the fast, the more the improvement.
About the doctor, I’m sure the vast majority of us can fast for a pretty long time without big problems. However there are some cases with particular health conditions of which, if you are not aware of, might lead to tragedy or permanent health risks if you don’t take the necessary precautions. If all of us 3000+ sufferers decided to go on a prolonged water fast, we could see that tragedy materialize. I know it’s also a money issue but when I mean “seek for a doctor”, I mean seek for a doctor (who runs fasts usually) that monitors you once a week or gives you blood exams to do every, say each week, which shouldn’t be that expensive. He also might give useful advices. And I have to say that some people are in fact seen to have a mineral depletion and they need to be taken out of the fast; though it is not a common pattern. If I am not mistaken, this is also one of the matters why a proper and complete nutrition is required prior to the fast.

Over the past few months I have received some emails & PMs asking for the results from my water fast. So I thought I would take the time now to give an update. Prior to the fast, I was on HCG, SERM, & A’dex for 11 months. I weened off all meds immediately prior to the fast.
Here is a copy/paste from my journal:
[i]my water fast, was 100% spring water only. Occasional pinch lemon juice for a treat.
Water fast Summary:
Fast Summary: 208 starting weight. Goal was 30 days or 175 lbs.
Day 1-3- Moderate hunger. Not as bad as expected. Hunger mostly gone after day 5, only hunger when seeing/smelling dinner cooking.
Day 6- Biggest weight loss was in first 5-6 days. 195 lbs.
Day 10- Hunger completely subsided. Weight loss slowed, ~1 lb. Per day.
Day 15- Morning erections seemed to become stronger. Sinuses clearing.
Day 23- First BM in over a week. Reached 175 lbs. And decided to go “day by day”, new limit of 170 lbs.
Day 24- Another BM. (Viewed this as great, ridding toxins as no food in 24 days) ~173 lbs.
Day 28- Ended fast. 169.5 lbs. Could have easily made 30 days but wife/family extremely worried over weight loss. Started juicing slowly days 1-3 post fast. Fruits day 4. Eggs, soups, salads day 5-9.
Summary: Biggest side effect was low blood pressure (as expected) ~103/68 range, and dizzy spells when standing up quickly. Sinuses cleared. Morning erections very prevalent. Taking no medications. Remained fairly active during fast i.e., work, walking, stairs, driving, etc. Rested in evenings as much as possible. After 4 weeks post fast, resumed multi-vitamins and few supplements. No major changes or benefits as result of fast. Sinusistus slowly returned. Still low libido, mostly unchanged during and post fast. Blood pressure normalized (~120/78).[/i]
In summary, I wouldn’t say that there was any beneficial changes to my sexual dysfunction. My post fast test levels remained about the same as when on HCG, so that may have been a benefit. Unfortunately I will never know what my test levels would have done if stopping my meds without leading into a fast. Please keep in mind that my PFS is not from Propecia and partly why I don’t post here much anymore…just trying to respect the wishes of Admin. Hopefully my info here will help others decide whether its worth trying or not.
One last thing, the worst part was how much weight loss was in my face and head. I think that is what “startled” many co-workers and family by it happening so quickly. Got tired of telling lies about what I was doing…told most I was doing a “salad & fruits” only diet and I lose weight really easily. I know many didn’t buy it.
