Mostly meats/fish/chicken/ and a lot of fruits and veggies.

hair loss at a young age started at 17 years old.

Generic, sandoz i think the manufactor was.

My crazy doc prescribed me 2,5 mg EOD, but i ignored it after looking at other patiens dose.

I have tried 1,25 EOD, 0,75 EOD. Still sides.

  1. How long into your use of Finasteride did you notice the onset of side effects?

2 weeks, started getting nasty black marks on my underarm skin and loss of oil in skin + morning erections.

  1. What side effects did you experience while on the drug that have yet to resolve since discontinuation?

I’m so glad i find this forum. The other guys at the other hairlossforums completely ignores the sides and lives with it.

  1. Tell us your story, in your own words, about your Finasteride usage and side effects experienced while on/off the drug.

Took finasteride because of hairloss (all in fam has it). Was not on the drug so long, so never really saw any results.
Both my testicles has shrunken tremendously. I could live with it, it seemed common enough.
But the big killer is the almost non-existant ejaculatory force or volume. Sex is considerably less enjoyable. From the looks of things my decreased libido and reduced ejaculation almost sounds like I’m getting off easy compared to others. But I feel like this hasn’t completely played out yet.
Well it has only been 3 days since comming off. And now I’m scared to DEATH for my hormone system to crash, wish my luck :(.
Endos in denmark are like ignoring hormone problems in young males compared to in the US where they really care for you (well some of them, compared to really few in denmark).

However i will find a endo that will blood test me.

Many people on this site report a ‘crash’ after masturbating, so … over the next few weeks/months don’t masturbate too much, or have too much sex.
Maybe every 3 or 4 days to keep things in working order.

Avoid alcohol completely.
Also avoid rigorous/intensive exercise… moderate excercise only.

Tapering off the drug may be a better option, but i’ll leave it up to a more experienced member to advise you on this.

Status so far: +/-

My testicels have returned to normal size and are hanging as before fin (100% recovery here, amazing??..)
My skin at the face near the hair = no more dry. However the dry areas are “dead skin” and i can peel it off, its like I’ve had a sun burn or some shit like that (I’m a semi black male / mulatto and i never had a sunburn…) The new skin is a bit lighter than the rest of my brown face skin , somehow a bit screepy, but i take it as a improvement.
My diet is good as always, and i have not touched alcohol in ½ year and i will continue.

New side after stopping:su
Crampping sensation in my left underarm and some of the hand. This is quite creepy, but I’m calm. Dont know if its fin related, or just me in panic mode.

Status:
I think that the cramp yesterday was just me in panic mode, as i was on the computer with my arm on the table for a long time. At the same time i was reading some scary stories on the member stories section (I pray for you guys, this is fuckd up)…
After stopping I’ve gotten my morning erections back, somedays rock hard somedays semi-erection (just as normal as before, my morning wood will vary).
Dry skin is getting better.

Also i’ve processing in accepting that I will go bald, actually i think i would appear rather handsome with the bald look ;-).
I will get a meeting with my doc within a couple of weeks, so far i dont see no big problems. But hey, maybe i will crash in a couple of weeks or months, who knows… maaan wish me luck!

New side:
Slight (minimal) ball ache in my right testicle. Will keep you updated.

As im already here i new status will follow:
Arm cramping im sure this is NOT because of FIN, but only because my heavy PC usage. (I’m currently reading up to the exam, so sitting down a lot resting my left arm on the table)
The “lighter” skin mentioned earlier is getting darker/normal.
I feel pretty normal right now (mentally).

Most people recover from Finasterid. You still have time and it’s probable that you will get back to normal. Only a minority stays fucked to different degrees. Good luck!

And yeah, accept your baldness (or use Minoxidil). I actually shave my head completely these days and feel better about it than I ever imagined. There was never any reason to take that crap in the first place. But I try not to think about it. :confused:

get plenty of sunlight/swallow vit D
eat plenty of veggies/fruits…i suggest you go on a raw diet
don’t stress your body…
meditate…
go to bed by 9:30 PM…

Status:
Left arm cramping is starting to freak me a bit out, i thought it could be pc related. Especially after reading some stuff here about 5 AR in the spinal cord etc.
Only appears when im chilling and sitting down with my notebook and the table.
However i still have them, it’s not like cramping, but it could be described as my leftunderarm and hand is a bit sleepy?
Erections are getting better, actually i woke up today with great morning wood (i would rate it as a weapon).
Mentally I’m calm for the situation. Just received “the best possible grade” aka 12 (danish school system grade, think it’s named as a A+ in US?) at my school exam today so somehow my brain must be working.

Current thoughts on the whole PFS thing:
I’ve always in a way seen US as a corrupt country where capitalism/merc has the power (haha sorry US guys!) , I’m just a bit surprised that finasteride is still approved here in Europe / denmark where i think we have a much stronger regulation on meds (i think…)
I can see that many million people have used fin for different treatments, I’m thinking how come PFS is still so unknown in the medias? Where is the action?

Actually my hair is perfect at the moment, (only slight diffuse at crown) som I’m considering getting a micro tatoo pigmentation within a couple of years. This is seriously perfect for me as as mulatto male, and I’m already rocking the buzzed cut. Maybe you guys should considered it? however I can see that many of you are dealing with some much more serious sides, I’m just trying to be possitive! if you think you could benifit from this then take a look man!

Still getting morning wood (skind of hardness, but normal)
Seemen is getting white.

HOWEVER
I’ve had some pain in my nipples. Estrogen must be rising, it must be gyno… fuck. Never ever had gyno.
I will be getting some blood results within a couple of weeks.
Anyone treated gyno with anti e?

You realy should try to relax!!! some pain in the nipples is not a gyno!

Good, Please post them here! And have a look before, what test´s should be done.
For now, try to relax and dont use anyting against you nipple pain. Like I wrote you before…
I realy think very very negativ…“headding towards the crash” did you had a crash? “must be gyno” etc… You need to stay cool :exclamation:

Status:
Itchy nipples are pretty much gone.
Morning erections are really hard!
Semen is white.
Skin is perfect.
Hair growth is back to normal (really fast growth!)
Mentally im great, brainfog is gone.
Guess i’ll be OK. I’m pretty much as before fin?
Will continue to post here.

Went to my doc and he would not help me with blood results as i continue to improve.

Considering your brief usage history and the fact you quit in June, sounds like you are making a normal recovery per the drug manufacturer’s claims within the expected tmeframe (ie a few weeks post-drug). Hopefully you continue to do well and have no further need for this site.

So I’m back again.
Skin has not improved so much, so it is still a bit itchy and “red”/dry.
Pre fin i’ve had som really nice oily skin. Now i got no oil at all.
My testicles are not hanging as low as before fin, but i’ts ok - seemen is great, mental is fine and i can get a fine erection.
I’m changing to a new doc because the other was a…y
So my main concern is my skin.

Back again…
I have just found out how much better i am now compared to being on the drug, did not realize until today, wow…
Actually thinking back while on fin, i experienced i was VERY emotional.
I actually cried 2-3 times while on the drug, due to silly episodes.
My skin is still dryer than pre fin, but it continues to get better every week.
I think i have recovered almost. 90%, only the skin.
I’m sure i will heal natural within a couple of month.
Quite crazy, but i think my dick has becommed larger flacid compared to on fin?
Will keep you updated within a month.

That’s not what he’s saying. He’s saying since being off the drug (ie, DHT coming back), he noticed increased flaccid size. This is a good sign, possibly that the penile tissues are responding to androgens/fresh bloodflow after being deprived of DHT while on the drug.
