When does the anxiety stop?

Can anyone tell there timeframe on anxiety going away? 4 months? 6 months? 8 months?

thanks

How long were you on finasteride, and how long have you been off? I was on for seven weeks, off for two weeks, and then on for another week for a total of eight. I’ve been off for 10 weeks now and I’m still not 100% but hopefully getting there?

I was on for 4 years. Ive been off for 4 1/2 months. I keep going back and forth through anxiety. Like 5 days of straight constant anxiety and then a week of feeling normal and calm.

About 2 months off I developed hellish anxiety. This anxiety would come and go too and it lasted 3 months then changed into permanent and strong anxiety which lasted 3 months then suddenly stopped. Unfortunately I didn’t understand what had caused it all so STUPIDLY I took another pill and back to hell I went. This time the anxiety and depression took over a year to fade enough away so I can hold down a simple job. If I were you, I’d try to do as much cardio as possible and cut out all caffeine, chocolate, and sugars. There are 2 other things I try to avoid like the plague - mushrooms and soy. I don’t know why but every time I eat mushrooms the anxiety and dizziness comes back pretty hard. Could be just a food allergy for all I know. Another thing that really helped me big time was weed. I know it’s been said to stay away from it but it worked better than Xanax for me. With Xanax the anxiety would come back 10 times worse after it wore off. I only ever use weed in the evenings before bed when I think I won’t be able to fall asleep without it. I’m planning on writing a post about it in the near future. Just be careful if you live in the States, they got some harsh penalties down there from what I’ve heard. I live in Canada and my doctor even supports the use. Anyway, I’d say you’ll feel your anxiety fading in the next 2-3 months. Just don’t get hooked on benzos or you’ll never recover.

Thanks Markus, Yeah the anxiety is real strong right now. And when its bad I get the dizziness drunk feeling with it. I do alot of cardio and noticed that some foods I eat brings it out worse. Im probably gonna go back to my natural diet. I try to stay away from benzos as much as possible. I do have a prescription of xanax that i use for intense anxiety situations. I might take a 1/4 of a pill a week, but try to keep drugs out of my system. Thanks again for your response, greatly appreciated.

Explain that soy thing. It’s funny you mention it b/c I started Propecia and had no side effects whatsoever for the first two weeks. Then in the third week is when I finally noticed mental side effects, and that is the week I started drinking soymilk (I remember this week exactly) like crazy, and have been on it ever since. Hmm…interesting to think.

Soy has been cited as causing an increase in PHYTOESTROGENS, which, in males is counterproductive for sperm-creation.

How is it counterproductive? Cite your sources.

Without scienfitic documents to backup your statements, this is all just personal opinion.

If you eat alot of fruit and vegetables you are getting tons of photoestrogens. Are you saying that we shouldn’t eat fruit and veggies? Obviously this is ridiculous.

Ah, no. I’m not saying anyone should not eat soy. I was just answering someone’s question as to what some view as a problem to soy. Some people shy away from soy by its purported estrogenic effects, and I base my personal knowledge on this from an article I read over summer.

With that said, he also said:

Again, I don’t view soy as being something that is unhealthy or that much of a risk as something like propecia. Soy is healthy period.

I myself eat soy, broccoli and other fruits and veggies frequently.

I apologize if I gave that impression away.

I will be sure to clarify next time to avoid confusion.

No. I am not saying that.

I was trying to answer Kirra’s question about the soy thing and how it may be relevant to sperm and sexual function.

Again, I am not trying to give my personal opinion on the matter as I do not view soy as anything bad.

I will clarify this next time so it won’t confuse people.

if i look at porn my brainfog goes away …

Does anyone know of any interactions between soy and Propecia? It’s interesting to note that in terms of my Propecia experience, I had no side effects for the first 2+ weeks, and it wasn’t until that 3rd week when slurred speech came about, and that was the same week I started drinking soymilk like crazy (I remember this because I moved back to the US at this point). Soy is obviously healthy, right? This is probably a tenuous connection at best right?

I feel it is safe to say that soy did not cause you to slur your speach. It is the toxic pharmaceutical drug that did that. I went through a period of it my self. It has since reversed.

I had slurred speech/tongue tripping by the time I came off after 11 months, which continued for at least 8 months after… but slowly started clearing up as time went on. Now it’s a minor issue if/when it pops up 3 yrs off.

Definitely due to the drug, I do not consume soy products.

I know of no scientific connections linking soy and finasteride exactly that could validate what I’m saying, so this is just an educated guess. I am not condoning a soy-free diet or giving any personal opinion away on the matter, merely guessing as to the interaction of soy and finasteride.

But as the study I posted from Harvard Medical School shows, men who consumed heavy amounts of soy daily, had up to 41 million less sperm than those who did not consume soy products. IT COULD BE, and this is pure speculation not fact or something you should follow without more knowledge , that Propecia, which inhibits the production of DHT, and the consumption of soy (showing a proportional relationship to estrogen increase–more soy, more estrogen according to study), exacerbated the estrogen build-up thus creating problems mentally and/or sexually. Nevertheless, this is only a guess at best but could explain why Soy could have “triggered” these symptoms. The question I’d like to know is HOW MUCH SOY DID YOU CONSUME? This could have a correlation identifying with the study I posted earlier by the Harvard Medical School.

It could also be just coincidence.

Yes–soy is more or less healthy for an individual. You should research more to see what you can come up with.

Mew,

What, if anything, have you tried to reverse the problem? Are you waiting to see what happens to others with their treatments? Or have you done most of them with no improvement?

Time for now, and a few supplements. No drugs so far.

I have not tried any major treatments yet. I am slowly working on another website which I hope can be used to contact researchers who may have insights into our issues, who would hopefully be open to testing (long shot but who knows). If nothing comes of that then yes, trying treatment with Crisler or Shippen would be the ultimate end game… and of course, a lawsuit, should it ever happen (which, if you guys ever wanted to get going in the USA, you’d need to file it yourselves).

Mew

What symptoms do you have that still persist?
