The water fast thread

I no longer have body odor and signs of a “fatty liver” but I’m not fat, except around the mid section, like so many of us.

mine go from high , to normal, back to high… same with billirubin…
cholesterol is always way high…

My armpit odor is very estrogenic even though estrogen is crashed in the blood 12 (11-45) It varies from a burnt celery odor (estrogenic) to a yeast odor)

if I had to guess our guts/liver are all fucked up… causing us malapsorption as well as some kind of toxicity/overgrowth.

I stopped eating for 8 days and didn’t notice any benefits whatsoever.

hey @Papasmurf

do you think maybe the fast was a good idea, but you/we may have another issue as well? Like a bile flow issue/ or leaky gut? Basically the toxins are just being recirculated back into the blood stream and not excreted?

I’m not sure I don’t believe the hype with fasting if anything long term fasting wouldn’t be good for the liver or kidneys when the body starts breaking down muscle tissue this would be a heavy load on the system and cellular machinery that relies on nutrients. I believe PFS patients may have multiple gut issues from malabsorption, bile excretion to altered gut microbiota and the kidneys may also be affected so yes I would say our ability to rid itself of toxins is reduced I know that I had a Candida issue for about 8 months which signifies low immunity- the damage just seems to be systematic kind of like throwing a spanner into a car engine.

I believe looking strictly at hormones will not fix anything. This is a systemic issue. The whole body is almost involved. Pretty much a dominoe effect. I could name multiple symptoms that just make no sense…

The severe restless legs (has resolved completely)
Leaking Urine
Tight Scrotum
Genitals feel like rubber, penis filled with air and cold
Armpit odor? Dark circles under eyes? elevated liver enzymes and billirubin?
Never thirsty?

Has water fasting improved anyone’s orgasm?

I’ve done one 3 day and it didn’t for me. Nothing has improved my orgasm in the last 8 years @voice. Only thing that slightly might temporarily is weed. But even then it’s not good

Hey everyone I’ve never tried anything remotely similar to fasting before but am very interested in giving a 3-4 day water fast a shot.

I wanted to ask whether anyone with fasting experience thinks it’s possible to do a 3-4 day water fast while studying (a pretty demanding course) or will my energy/concentration levels be far too low?

Hello

Second time trying to post this reply on water fasting.

I stopped finasteride/propecia 6 years ago. I had some horrible issues, lots of sexual side effects, brain fog, generally looking/feeling awful, etc. I feel that it has been our liver and kidneys, as well as bowels that have been most damaged by this drug. Its been difficult trying to recover, but I am feeling a lot better now. It might just be that it took time for me to recover, but besides clean diet and exercise I do feel that extended water fasts and castor oil packs have really helped. I have done two long water fasts (25 days and 30 days). They are really difficult, and you need time off from work etc. But the second long fast was much easier that the first. I have also done frequent castor oil packs on my liver and abdomen, which also have helped. With the castor oil pack I can actually hear my bile spurting and gurgling, so shifting toxins from the liver. The internet/youtube is really our friend here, as there is so much information:

  • For water fasting: Alan Goldhamer (True North Insitute), Lauren Lockman (Tanglewood), and John Rose.

  • For castor oil packs: A lady that calls her self ‘Queen of Thrones’.

These people are experts, and I believe that they have a lot of useful information for us. Another thing that I feel really helped was eating lots of coriander/parsely (in smoothies and juicing). The three things I have mentioned are all focused on de-toxifying our bodies, and letting use heal naturally. Its a long processes. In my opinion there are no easy ‘cures’. Taking propecia was the worse mistake of my life, and recovering from it one of the great struggles of my life. We need to hand in there. Some of the methods I have suggested might even leave you feeling worse, if so, in my opinion this is just a measure of how toxic your body is and you need to go through this before recovering. However, the castor oil pack on your liver and abdomen is a gentle way of healing.

Please note that I am not a Doctor and not giving any medical advice or suggesting that any of you follow what I did to get better.

Hello Yedek1,
No, I’m not andrew35.
I am a first time poster here.

For the castor oil pack, the person on youtube is ‘Dr. Marisol, Queen of the Thrones. How to do a Castor Oil Pack’

I have done one of 10 days and one of 5 days. It did not cure me. Can remember i felt better during them, but cannot remember if I stayed better. I always feel better when I stop eating, but when i start eating again i feel bad.

Book from valter longo is interesting since he is the top scientist in this field. He has a diet that puts you in a fasting state without completely stopping eating. It is called the fasting mimicking diet.

Ozeph,
How do you know that you produce 40gr of BHB per day?
Do you have any source about this?

It was a wild guess but I looked it up. Being in ketosis produces 3 ketone bodies:

  • Acetoacetate (20%)
  • Beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB) (78%)
  • Acetone (2%)

BHB is the most efficient and beneficial of the three.

The source article does not say how much fat gets transformed into ketone bodies, but it does say that ketones will supply up to 50% of your basal energy requirements and 70% of your brain’s energy needs.

The brain needs 400 Kcalories a day, so 70% is 280 Kcal, 78% of which is BHB so that’s 218 Kcal, divided by 9 Kcal per gram = 24 gr of BHB. (fat provides 9 Kcal per gram, protein and carbs 4 Kcal per gram)

The basal requirements are around 1500 Kcal for a medium sedentary person. Same calculation: 50% is 750 Kcal, 78% of which is BHB so that’s 585, divided by 9 = 65 gr of BHB.

I stand corrected, I produce up to 89 gr of BHB per day. Because I’m surely not that efficient, I’d say I produce more than 40 gr and less than 89 gr. That’s still more than I can get from Butyrate supplements or BHB salts or esters and it’s much healthier to get BHB from ketosis than from exogenous sources.

(The brain needs 30 gr of glucose a day, minimum, no matter how much in ketosis you are. If you can’t get it from carbs, you’ll get it from 60gr of protein. That’s muscle if you’re fasting, it’s some of your protein intake if you’re not. The minimum protein intake to not lose muscle is 85gr a day, plus 60 = 145gr if you take no carbs at all. I eat 20gr of carbs a day so my minimum protein for not losing muscle is 105gr. I eat 125-140gr of protein and the rest is ghee and beef fat. I get more protein than needed so I can build muscle or use it as energy)

Source: https://www.ruled.me/what-is-beta-hydroxybutyrate-bhb/

For basal energy requirements , you have to google it and fill a form to get what’s your requirement. and you can do your research to find the other figures.

Thanks for making me look it up. It’s more BHB than I though and it encourages me to make more efforts to be sure I’m in ketosis.

I wonder if people are not taking Thiamin after there fast and that’s maybe why some people are feeling worse. Doctors say it’s depleted after fasting and you should take supplements

So I did a 7 day only water fast, I had to stop due to my blood pressure raising to extreme numbers 165/102 and soon as I got some solid food like vegetables it lowered to 128/80. I have never heard of this happening with a fast usually people get lower blood pressure.

As far as positives from the fast my testicles are not as cold and my penis seems to have gotten bigger especially in the flaccid state.
A warning on re-feeding do not eat broccoli it has raffinose in it which is hard to digest I had one piece and felt like crap, the best so far is brown rice with ginger on it, ginger is great for the stomach, I would also recommend staying away from acidic fruits and foods for a bit it could give you an ulcer.
