the broccoli treatment

Hey guys,

I would like this thread to be for guys who have tried ‘the broccoli treatment’ (How did things go for you? etc…) , and for those who are interested in trying.

Here is the website:

prostatitis.org/broccaction.html

Here is my story: I took Propecia for 2 and 1/2 years. 3 Years ago I had to stop because I was having urination problems (thankfully, that was my only adverse side effect). I was going all. the. time. After I quit, the symptoms subsided, not completely, but enough to be tolerable. Occasionally I would have a ‘flair up’, in which the symptoms would get a little worse. The last time that happened (a few weeks ago), I did my research and found the broccoli treatment site.

Here is what I’ve been doing, 2 times a day, once before bed, once for breakfast:

  • Bring 10 - 12 ounces of water to boil.
  • Put in a medium - large cereal bowl worth of broccoli for 5 minutes.
  • Eat the broccoli.
  • Drink the broth that’s left over (yep, it’s gross).
  • Wait 25 minutes.
  • Drink an 8 ounce glass of orange juice.

Now, all the details make it sound a little crazy, but I’m following the letter of the law at least for peace of mind’s sake (that’s what the website says). I guess cooking it (but only for so long) ‘releases the enzymes’; waiting before you eat anything else helps with absorption. It’s not the funnest thing to choke down all of the broccoli (and the broth), but so far the results are worth it (it’s only been 1 week). The night before I started I got up 4 times to pee (and peed probably about every 45 minutes during the day). I’ve gotten up to pee once the past 3 nights combined (and I have to go much less during the day as well). I don’t know how things will go from here, but so far I’m thrilled. If I had to keep this up to maintain the results, I would.

Has anyone else had similar results? What should I expect in the (near and not so near) future? Again, I’ve only been doing this for a week (so take what I say with a grain of salt), but if you are having urinary problems, you might consider ‘the broccoli treatment’.

Thanks for the info!
I also have “only” urinary problems.
Here my story: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3949

No ED and sexual problems, but 5 years with pee flow problems (very low stream, frequent urination, sovrapublic pain).

You also have a weak stream and sovrapubic pain?

Someone says that it can be a “high estrogen problem” that makes prostate increase in size. Have you done some test in this way?

I actually don’t know what you mean by ‘sovrapublic pain’. I’m not sure I would call it ‘pain’ per se, but I have had discomfort in (what I would guess is) my prostate region. It’s now been 11 days, and I’m still having good results. Here’s a couple of things I didn’t mention.

  • The orange juice thing is mine, it’s not a part of ‘the broccoli treatment’ I just read it was good for our problems, and I figured it couldn’t hurt.
  • You aren’t supposed to put any spice, salt, or cheese or anything on the broccoli. It’s obviously not the most fun meal, but the benefits outweigh the cost (by a bunch).

Again, still having good results 11 days in. I’m going to keep it up for (about) 3 more weeks. That’s supposed to be all it takes, but if I had to keep going to keep the results, I would. You should try this too and see if you have similar results.

Thanks for the info again.
I’ve spelled it wrong, it’s “sovrapubic (not pubLic) pain” or lower abdomen pain. Not a great pain, but I can’t use tight pants or underpants or the problem becomes bigger. Have you similar pain?

No, I haven’t had any pain like that. My only symptoms / problems have been frequent urination (at night as well as during the day), weak stream, and (at times) an inability to get the stream going (right away).

Part of what the ‘frequent urination’ problem is of course that the urgency doesn’t seem to match up with the amount I pee. I have often feel the strong urge to go, but when I do, it seems like I just pee out very little. Perhaps this is an inability to fully empty my bladder, but I don’t know for sure.

I am now past the 2 weeks point, and I am still having good results. I wouldn’t say that things are back to what they were before I took Propecia, but the results are substantial.

Keep us updated!

Well, here is my latest update.

I finished the whole ‘broccoli treatment’ a few weeks ago, and frankly, things are going great! Most nights I don’t have to get up to go to the bathroom at all. Also, there are times when I find myself realizing ‘Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve peed, or even felt the urge.’ (I’m a student, so a do a lot of sitting around… in classrooms, in front of a computer, etc… ) According to the website, I MIGHT have to do the broccoli treatment again in 4 or 5 months, but it would be well worth it. The change is really night and day.

Again, I (thankfully) only had urinary problems, but the broccoli treatment really, really has worked for me. The website CLAIMS that it will have similar results for sexual problems. I don’t know if that’s true, but it’s definitely worth a shot, I’d say.

yes, i’m on broccoli treatment and i feel better.

I mean, first week i felt a big difference, next two weeks no improvement.
i’m healed till a certain level, but it’s also ok if i think back

you think we can extend for a long period the treatment?
(for example 6 months?)

Okay so,

After a while, my symptoms came back. And, I couldn’t keep up with the ‘treatment’, it’s hard to motivate yourself, choking down all the broccoli when you aren’t seeing the results.

HOWEVER, I started to put 2 and 2 together and thought ‘maybe it’s just all the vitamin C in broccoli that gave me good results’. Long story short, a couple of weeks ago, I started taking a once daily vitamin C supplement, giving me just over 1,000% of my (recommended) daily dose. Well, I have seen great results over the past 2 weeks. I’m actually peeing like a normal person. Obviously, it’s a small sample size, but maybe it’s what us guys with urination problems need. Who knows?

I take vitamin C, it’s a very good supplement which is also good for the adrenal glands.

i agree that it’s a torture drink twice a day that distasteful brotha, but i can assure u if it works again i force myself

my symptoms came back but in a low level

unfortunately i got really good benefits for first weeks, then stop

i have taken vit C but in my case didn’t work as good as broccoli

i got A little benefit from bromelain, natural anti-inflammatory

Well, FML. I was seeing decent results, taking a Vitamin C supplement. But the supplement also lead to a case of Angular Cheilitis:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angular_cheilitis

This also happened when I underwent the broccoli treatment, but I didn’t realize that there was a causal connection between the two. Apparently, in a handful of people, excessive amounts of Vitamin C will do that. So, I’m forced to choose between urination problems, or mouth sores on my face.

Hello, I’m from Bulgaria and have some questions. I’m starting the broccoli treatment now. Want to ask you, how to prepare the broccoli ? When should I put them in the pot ? After the water is boiling or when i put the pot on the hot-plate with the broccoli and water?

The broccoli broth isn’t that bad. Buy some nice organic onion powder to add and it is very tasty.

Question guys: is it ok draining the broth before drinking it? 'cause if I don’t drain it the liquid is very dense and disgusting, if I drain it (thus removing the small broccoli particles) I am still drinking a green liquid but more watery and less disgusting.

Let me know guys!
Thank you

I honestly doubt its the vit cin the brocolli.

Probably the I3C (DIM) that is in broccoli

lef.org/magazine/mag2002/may2002_report_prostate_01.html

Well, i tried the broccoli treatment with no results, i had to pee as often as before and no sexual help either. Just my impression: totally useless.

I3C is what is in Broccoli, this is why people do the “Broccoli Treatment”. In fact I have 2 bottles of I3C right next to me.

Look what I just found though. Apparently it inhibits androgen receptor expression. This is not good and not what we are looking for. So stay away from broccoli!

theoretically u have reason but it’s not so simple

also zinc have similar effect but helped some in recovery

in my case broc treat helped me a bit

i get tired after i eat broccoli… has anyone else experienced this?
