Stem cells as a therapy

Braziliandude also went off on me on my thread for no apparent reason using unnecessarily vulgar terms simply because i disagree that the cause of PFS is fungus or gut related. Now lets get back on topic… one week till i get this done.

Perhaps Braziliandude is riding one or the waves that feels like recovery, but like Mew and other state, it is unfortunately always short lived and extremely complicated.

BP, rooting for you big time, Hopefully stem cell treatment helps you out and you will be able to tell the marked differences. You are a brave guy, as is Joetz.

@Broken Pecker

Thank you for being brave man. You and Joetz are doing something great for this community. I really felt a change in the air when Second Ammendment did his hunger strike. His bravery made me feel stronger, and I am sure others can relate. You guys who take these plunges are my heroes, I mean that. So thank you guys. If we stick together, who knows what we can accomplish.

As for Braziliandude, I do not know all of your details, but if by some miracle from God you feel good again, I do hope it lasts you a lifetime.

…Lets stick together guys, Awor once told me that our situation is like “David vs. Goliath”, but that if we keep fighting the good fight, we absolutely stand a chance, and I truly believe him, and I do believe in he and his team, and what they are doing for us.

It can ONLY get better dammit!!!

One of the problems with this type of therapy is that adult stem cells replicate to the same tissue type from where they were taken. This is why I questioned their theory when they told Joetz injecting his scalp with stem cells dervied from his fat tissue would regrow his hair. Skin stem cells become skin cells, muscle stem cells become muscle cells, or in this case fat tissue derived adult stem cells would become fat cells. Adult stem cells have a memory of where they come from encoded in a set of genes (Hox genes). It’s been proven even if you remove adult stem cells from the body and replicate them in a dish over and over again. I’d be interested to hear what the clinics would have to say to this and how these adult fat stem cells would differentiate into various cell types when we know that doesn’t happen.

Ray of hope?

Is that really how it works though? That stem cells “become” other types of cells? I thought the stem cell sent some kind of signal to tell the body to repair itself

The truth is that no one really knows how stem cells work

The cells that were injected in my scalp were a completely different type than the kind that was put in my blood stream. These cells don’t move and they are used for baldness, face lifts, and boob jobs. The doctor told me what they were called and now I can’t remember, but it was a three letter acronym…maybe people more knowledgeable on science can assist here.

Basically, yes that’s how it works from what I can tell. I’m taking that info from a 2009 paper and I heard the same info mentioned in a lecture by a Stanford regenerative medicine researcher of about the same time. I’d also welcome any comments from anyone with bio/medical background who are more informed on the subject. Unfortunately some of the guys with those backgrounds have left the board due to the acrimony from certain members.

Today is the day for BP.

Yeah well lets see if it helps…

Fingers crossed!!

Braziliandude, I thought you were cured?

BP, are you doing it at the same place as Joetz?

Cant I feel excited for him?

Yes I had the same procedure. They only got 20 million cells off me and instead of doing them all intrevenously i had 15 million intrevenous and 5 million directly injected into my penis (which isn’t the most pleasant experience). I don’t want to say much as like joetz I am reluctant to claim successes this early. I do seem to feel a little mentally sharper and less depressed thou. Give me a couple days to truly ascertain any immediate results.

thank you man! very brave man, i hope it makes you feel better … it is nice that we now have two people who have tried this because the more people who try something, the better we can understand how it will effect our situations … so thank you broken and joetz!

Went to sleep for a few hours woke up feeling angry and instead of the usual sad miserable feelings i have upon waking…interesting.

BP, I recommend getting a daily planner and logging your progress/setbacks.

Two days since the procedure. Definitely a substantial mental improvement in regards to anxiety, depression and feeling sharper. No improvements yet in regards to sexual side effects.

Great news BP, hope it continues for you. Assuming you and joetz continue to improve it would appear like cell damage is at least part of the source of the problem?

Not necessarily. Since it is not clearly understood yet how the stem cells actually heal the body. The cells may or may not be repairing tissue, they might in fact be signaling the cells in damaged areas to change.

BP, what you’re saying is correct. Scientists at first thought stem cells just replace damaged cells but they are finding out that part of their therapeutic effects include the release of signaling factors, growth factors, etc. that signal other cells to repair or to function correctly. This is especially true for neural stem cells which release BDNF to the surrounding cells.
