Yes, I know, but the others do not belong in the thyroid section and can go in general bloods or his story.
I agree…Cortisol should be included with TFT tests as it is responsible for proper thyroid function as well…
TFT(Thyroid Function Tests) should include:
Total T3
Total T4
FT3
FT4
Reverse T3
TSH
Thyroid Antibodies
Cortisol
I’m sorry I just copied and pasted the last test but I forgot to mention the following:
TRAK: <8.00UL 0.0-9.0
TPO:<5.0IU/ML 0.0-34,0
I think TRAK is the checkup for antibodies isn’t it ?
Therefor the only thing I have to retest is RT3 , cortisol is mentioned in my previous post
HOPE88 you have to test RT3 and FT3 at the same time. Also, it’s a good idea to test total T3 to use that ratio also.
My TSH level is 6.55 (0.27-4.20)
This seems very high to me… so my doctor is going to test T3, T4 and tsh again… I told him specifically about reverse T3. I had mentioned it to him 3 times, but still he did not put it on the order for the blood work… do you guys think I should just write reverse T3 on the prescription paper.? I’m really considering doing it.
prolactin is 15.24 (4.04-15.20)
also thoughts on my high tsh would be appreciated.
wow my tsh level is extremely higher then anyone elses…wow

TSH that is higher than normal suggests a thyroid that is underactive and not doing its job of producing thyroid hormone. So, in general, HIGHER TSH = UNDERACTIVE THYROID / HYPOTHYROIDISM.
Hopefully it’s the main cause of all my problems… I’m a little confused with hypothyroidism… I know you have to take meds, but do you have to take them for life? OR just until your thyroid gets back on track?
I just re-took TSH and my result was 4.95 (.27-4.20). My previous level was 6.25. That is HUGE difference between the 2 tests. Both were taken around same time(within 15-20 minutes)…My doc also tested total t3 and free t4. t3= 101 (80-200)
t4= 1.47 (.93-1.70). Those look just fine to me… he agreed.
The only thing different about these 2 tests is that on the 2nd test, I had lifted weights the day before taking it. Whereas for the first test, I did not lift weights the day before i took the test. Also for the 4.95 reading, I went to bed at 1030-11pm… whereas the first reading I went to bed at maybe 12:30…idk if any of that information is relevant so ya. Obviously I was feeling better on the day of the 2nd test… but I have no idea as to why the huge improvement? He recommended me to see an endo. Im still pissed he didn’t test Reverse t3. He really didnt have any opinion as to why my tsh was better, he said I might have had a viral infection or something… I was so dumbfounded by the results that I really couldnt say much. I really thought this was the problem ( i still think it is ), but he said I was fine so there was really no point in talking more about it or offering an opinion. idk, i’m so confused by this. IDK how it can go from 6.25 to 4.95… any thoughts guys? Idk why I even bother writing no one ever responds to me.
Hi toadstool , I had the same problem like you , my endo said to me it is because of nervousity my first thyroid test was also pretty high on values but the second wasn’t , my question is do you have a needle- phobia or where you nervous before testing ? my second bloodtest I made was in a relaxed atmosphere so the values were much lower , that means they made three test in about 20 minutes where In laying position … so stress is really a comon factor of the difference of the values
By the way I forgot to mention my hormone profile : viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3430
there you can see the difference between my first and my second bloodtest my TSH and FSH are pretty high on the first but on the second it is much lower. But nevertheless my second is also a bit out of range , so I’ll redo a thyroid test I think the Thyroid plays a big role with our symptoms also MartinM told me he has similar problems like me except that I have never lost my libido but it seems that the back muscles and other erection related muscles kind of cramp so that the nerves kind of stop the blood flow into the genitals , did you try the combination of carots and zinc , it helped me a lot unfortunatelly just for a week and a vegetarian or rather vegan nutrion.
best wishes Hope 88
Yes you’re right the high TSH level has to do with being nervous. That is what I have been told by a few people. That more then likely was due to it being so HIGH. 4.9 is still high for me and its very likely I have a thyroid problem… My doc just is clueless… My t3 is also low, so i’m going to see an Endo soon. Hopefully he’ll realize the problem, and treat me accordingly. But first I need to get my adrenals tested. BC if your adrenals are screwed up that will affect your thyroid function… so I think i’m on the right track here, finally and should be on my way soon.
Dude,
If I can give you one line of advice; it is to see an anti aging doctor, or at least a doctor that specialises in thyroid AND adrenal issues. It is unlikely an endo will help you. I’ve not met one, and that’s why I’ve been suffering 9 years.
And stay away from old doctors or those with Professor before their names. I’m serious; they’re the worst.

im sick of coming to this thread expecting to see peoples thyroids results and getting this crap
harsh…
Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH): 2.50 uIU/mL [Reference Range: 0.34 - 4.82]
Free T3: 2.9 pg/mL [Reference Range: 2.0 - 3.8]
Free T4: 1.23 ng/dL [Reference Range: 0.44 - 1.53]
Tested: October 22, 2010 at 8:30AM, after fasting overnight
I was consuming 2x Mega Men Sport tablets per day at the time I had this blood test performed (I waited until after the blood draw was performed to take the 2x tablets for that day). I was on no other prescription drugs or supplements at the time.
yours look perfect.
Apparently around 1 is the benchmark for TSH. Ranges usually go up to 4 but its the hypothyroid people that are pulling the ranges up that fast (again, apparently). 0.8-1.5 odd is probably optimum.
I think there is a differing factor of stress, exercise, and sleep here. The thing is many of us get fatigued easy and the more sexual activity we have the worse we get. Your TSH coul have been affected by being nervous but more likely IMO you had these other factors.
Isnt the problem for most that we don’t respond properly? I mean more exercise makes me more fatigued, I don’t get in better shape. Sexual activity destroys me. So do I get tests now when I have sexual activity once a week or two or do I push it to another crash then get the tests? Your differing TSH could hold insight here, I think we should consider this…
