long term antibiotic use?

Though i am really looking forward to the results of Awor’s testing - i thought i’d mention this…

I know that people have felt better from using things that reduce inflammation, such as dexamethasone, and have also felt better by using antibiotics or nsaids (both which have anti-inflammatory properties) but has anyone used antibiotics for a long period of time - 6months or longer?

Without going into a huge amount of detail i feel that perhaps we are suffering from a chronic inflammatory condition, even an autoimmune response, triggered by the drug - not only in the prostate but body-wide. Their is an entire treatment based on vitamin d treatment and chronic inflammation which is successful in a variety of other inflammatory diseases: mpkb.org/home/patients/protocol_overview

I’ve had PFS for over 2 years now… For about 1 year and 6 months of it I was taking an acne medication called Cephalexin. It is an antibiotic, which just so happens to be used to treat urinary tract infections as well… I have to say that since I stopped taking that antibiotic, I have developed urinary tract infection symptoms, such as a very mild burning while I pee and afterward…However, they are not nearly as sever as an actual UTI… I’ve never had these problems until I stopped taking that antibiotic… Perhaps the antibiotic were masking these symptoms… Also, I had taken some cialis before while on these antibiotics and I must say that it brought my erections to 100% normalcy (only 5 mgs!), and could maintain them just fine… I only used it about 3 times mind you (so theres no way i built up a resistance)… I decided to try cialis again, this time 20+mgs, and it barely does anything at all… It’s no coincidence that the antibiotics were behind this… whether it be prostatitis or not, that is yet to be determined, but I cant help but wonder…

and the problem with this is… we have LOW vitamin D… those being treated with this have HIGH vitamin D…

I did read though that this olmesartan (Benicar) is suppose to be one of the safest drugs out there…

good point - we are low in d - but you have the wrong form of Vitamin D.

we are low in 25-hydroxy vitamin D, but this treatment is for people high in 1,25 di-hydroxy vitamin D.
Moonman exhibits this low to high ratio, and we need more testing to see if this is common with all of us.

Yes but none of them thus far have used For 6+ months consistently, correct? and none have been benicar which acts on the vdr receptor…

Golf if youre from the US, why dont you take it upon yourself to contact this person if you think it could potentially help?..

im not sure if doctor marshall is practicing anymore, but perhaps teaching this method.

i have already registered for the marshall protocol message board and will see if i can contact a doctor that practices his methodology to see if it could potentially apply to us (and to see if they can test for inflammation/immune issues) but in the meantime would appreciate any opinions on this therapy from the board

toadstool you are also in the U.S. so feel free to register and see if their is a doctor in your area, doesnt hurt to get evaluated right?

That’s what I went ahead and did.

I wonder how many ppl on this board have had 1,25 di-hydroxy vitamin D tested…

awesome!

People also feel better when exposed to sunlight also… I know especially for myself… but does sunlight give off 1,25 di-hydroxy vitamin D ? or the other vitamin d in which we are low in?

This is actually another good read on the subject as well:

This stuff is actually very interesting. Read the link I posted on that thread.

I believe sun avoidance in this case is because the medications can make you overly sensitive to sun exposure. I havent read which form of vit D sun provides, but i know i feel generally the same with or without sunlight exposure.

what medications? benicar/antibiotics?

benicar and a variety of other antibiotics create photosensitivity

A few users undertook a long course (months-years) of antibiotics, and had some success with it.

Despite some success, long term use of antibiotics feels wrong, does it not?

did you read any of the websites explaining the theory behind it?
trying all the other medications, trt, arimidex, supplements etc don’t exactly feel “right”
and, we have tried just about everything else - so if this helps then i dont personally see an issue.

again, none of the users here have used benicar for over 6 months, so not sure what would happen with it.

Yes. Reduce inflammation by taking antibiotics which takes the burden off the bodies immune system. What worries me is killing off necessary bacteria through long term antibiotic use or other side effects such as ibs, joint pain, or photo sensitivity.

I’m not denying it has caused some improvements just bringing up the question.
