Let's talk about semen..

How is everybody’s semen looking? I have heard from a few people I talk to from here that there’s is either watery, or yellowish. Both of these could point point to an issue with the prostate.

For me personally my semen is very watery, or half of it is white then the rest is just water. When I ejaculate for the first time in a day there will often be an acceptable amount of ejaculate, but then even after just that one there will be barely ANYTHING. I have just had 7 days of feeling very good, and in fact my penis is still looking better than it ever has since this whole ordeal but my semen is still terrible. This is one of the side effects that has gotten markedly worse for me. Even on a very healthy diet, zinc, royal jelly.

semen visual evaluation unfortunately cannot say something objective

post ur spermiogram results

mine revealed

asthenospermia
teratospermia
low amount of sperm

This has to be one of the funniest headlines I’ve read. Well lets talk about it Joey!

My last Semen analysis was horrible in early April. Since then, my improvement has gone up incredibly. My semen has been looking real nice. I can get a little bit to shoot now too. Definitely not like before, but its nice to see it shoot a little now. Volume has gone up as well. Looks normal like pre fin mostly.

Glad to hear you are feeling better!

The following quote is taken from the Proscar prescribing information.

“Treatment with PROSCAR for 24 weeks to evaluate semen parameters in healthy male volunteers
revealed no clinically meaningful effects on sperm concentration, mobility, morphology, or pH. A 0.6 mL
(22.1%) median decrease in ejaculate volume with a concomitant reduction in total sperm per ejaculate
was observed. These parameters remained within the normal range and were reversible upon
discontinuation of therapy with an average time to return to baseline of 84 weeks.”

It is astounding to me that a typical Proscar patient can face side effects for over 1.5 years, as admitted by Merck. What causes the extraordinarily long reversal is not mentioned in the literature.

Personally my ejaculate is almost completely watery and clear. If I store up reserves for 3-4 days I will get a bit of viscosity and white coloring, but there is a stark difference from before taking the medication. A good amount of seminal fluid comes from the seminal vesicles, located adjacent to the prostate, so that could be indicated as a source of the problem as well.

Yeah lets talk about semen.

Since i quit finasteride mine has been all over the place:

  • Completely watery and tiny amounts
  • Extremely thick
  • White but very runny and volumious

Despite the variations i cant remember the last 100% normal load i had (post-fin). There’s something going on with the prostrate, no doubt about it. Whether its just the hormonal interaction or an actual infection/imflammation still is to be seen.

Did anyone have really watery, translucent semen while ON fin. That’s one side effect I would definitely have noticed and wondered wtf and quit the drug, although I did plough trough lowered libido and even ED.

No most of my issues, including semen, were after fin. Weird.

Still, semen problems clearly indicate prostrate problems. It isn’t rocket science…

All the time on Fin I had very little watery semen which was often lumpy at the end.

For the 2 weeks after quitting it was back to how it was before, thick, white, loads of it.

Then it went back to watery and or lumpy, hardly any of it and no strength when coming out.

Now it’s a lot less watery, mostly white, not much of it and a weak shot.

Mine was yellowish while on the drug, and it has remained that way.

Yep. All the time.

This started 2 weeks in along with achy balls. I actually thought at the time this was a good thing as it was doing its job. What an idiot.

I had watery ejaculate while on Propecia and didn’t focus too much on it since I didn’t think it was an indication that something was wrong, or that things could get much worse. On its own, its a fairly mild side effect to manage. Surprisingly, all of the parameters of my semen analysis turned up normal, but they didn’t test for viscosity immediately after leaving the body.

This is quite strange, but after I ejaculate and it dries for a few minutes I find that it has a sickly sweet, perfume-like aroma. Has anybody else experienced anything like this?

here i see only visual evaluation, nobody had spermiogram?

dyagnostic test gave us something objective to compare

Hi.
This is my first post. I took the pill for 6 months and I quit last December. In October 2010 I took a sperm test and I was very good, all my test came in the range of normality. I took another test last month because my wife and I want to have a baby, and the results were completely different from the first one.

What I’m must worried about it’s the low volume ejaculation, my libido is not so bad and the watery semen went away, but I had 4ml in volume the first time and this one I had 0.9 which is very low. I’m going to scan my tests and post them here.

Anyone has a tip for increase the volume?

Thanks

Do you just want to increase the volume for aesthetic purposes or are you concerned about fertility?

There are a number of excellent fertility forums, which should provide a wealth of very useful information for you, just use google.

I would personally recommend weightlifting, Zinc and Royal jelly if you want to see some thick, healthy looking semen

Zinc - 50mg ED for every weekday.

Failing that, clomid. You should be able to get your lady pregnant with these.

Yellow semen is prostatitis for sure. Go check for bacteria in prostate secretion!

Thank you for your response. My concern is totally focused in the fertility side, I’ll google it as you advise.

Thank you so much for your response, I’m going to check out the zinc, I hope that’d help me.

No problem. Go for zinc picolinate; it absorbs much better than the others.

Clomid is a strong drug and you should probably consult a doctor about it. It will raise you FSH levels which should certainly help a subfertile man become more fertile.

Good luck

This article should probably be featured somewhere more conspicuous because the title rocks!
