JG's blood test

Hi everyone,

I did not get full blood tests as I expected yet, but I got those ones :

[See Below]

Testosterone levels seem to be good.
Glycemie is out of range.

TSH is 3.57. I read on several occasions on this forum that it is too high. What about it ?

Other blood tests :

[See Below]

I reviewed all blood tests on this website, and I am the only one to have such an amount in dht (it is >10, i do not even know what is the exact value).

Seems my problem is different from most people around here.
I have high T and Free T, and very very very high DHT.

anyone?

I’d get further thyroid testing done… TSH, Free T3, Free T4, thyroid antibodies… you may be subclinical hypothyroid, as some docs consider anything above 3 worth treating.

Yea, that is very high… not sure what it could mean but it doesn’t seem to be inhibiting T production, which is a good thing.

I’d investigate this further via teting for Adiol-G as a true marker of 5AR activity, as serum DHT may be unreliable.

See: propeciahelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=761

You may also want to investigate these hormonal ratios as markers of 5AR activity:

Tests 4 (January 21st, 2008)

Estradiol : 55 pg/ml (<35)
Prolactin : 17 ng/ml (1.8-14.4)

My doctor said there were two main issues :

  • ultra high dht : take natural hormone progesterone (watch out, its not the same progenelone which can have different effects on other hormones).

-thyroid : take euthyral so as to diminish tsh and get t3 and t4 higher

and some other drugs to detoxicate the liver

on a side, i’m worried to try a 5 alpha reductase inhibitor like finasteride, in consideration of all the problems it brought to me

on the other side, progesterone is natural hormone alreday present in the body, whereas fin is a artificial chemical substance.
and anyway my dht is excessively out of range like almost never seen for him. (the device was not configured to check such a level, that is why my level of dht is “>10”).

the doctor told me i made a “anti reaction” to the drug. that would be why the second time the dht level got up instead of being lowered. but that is just theory.

What do u think of it ? I will keep u updateon my condition, even if most people on this board have more a problem of low t/freet/dht.
But believe me, I suffer quite a lot like u fellas so i hope my problems will be fixed.

so yet another update (see above)

estradiol too high 55 (<35) and prolactin too : 17 (1.8-14.4)

this could explain my itchy nipples, isn’t it ?

for the moment, my doctor just recommended me to eat less cheese (i’m french lol), less coffee, and less alcohol.

do you think airimidex could help?

You might want to research that further…

Your Estradiol and Prolactin are both out of range, I’d look to bring those down before I’d consider anything else. Both are known to reduce libido and Testosterone levels in men via negative feedback on the HTPA.

As for Thyroid, if you do indeed have hypothyroidism than treatment would be in order. Hypothyroidism can lead to elevated Prolactin and Estrogens, in fact, so correcting that may bring down both.

propeciahelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1093

thanks for the info, i will communicate it to the doctor.

Mew, you said in the thread gynecomastia, in the physical side effects board :

"The normal production ratio of testosterone to estrogen is approximately 100:1. The normal ratio of testosterone to estrogen in the circulation is approximately 300:1. "

the blood tests measure circulation or production?

because my ratio is 145:1, so wether its to high or its too low.

you know i have a sore chest and itchy nipples. i think it must be linked to this elevetad estradiol and prolactin.

The doctor wanted me to try to eat less cheese, and drink less alcohol and coffee first
but i think if i ask him for more treatments he will be ok to try.

what do u think of it?

I got my dht re-checked :

DHT : 0.98 ng/mL (0.33-1.20) or 3,37 nmol/L (1.13-4.13)

Two solutions :
-DHT has widely dropped
-the previous test was wrong

I think the previous test was wrong, as I did not see any change in my condition.

Others :

Proteine C Reactive : 6.5 mg/l (<10)
TSH : 3.21 mUI/L (0.3-4.2)
Progesterone : 0.88 ng/ml (0.25-0.56)

I do not know what to think about the TSH. One endo told me it was too high. Another one told me it was ok (and T4 as well).

As for high progesterone, what to think about it ?

I’m concerned about the previous doctor who told me to try progesterone to lower dht (which was too high, but the test was apparently wrong), whithout asking me to check progesterone. And actually progesterone is already too high, so…

Any reaction welcome!

If you are concerned about your TSH, investigate hypothyroidism further.

Most docs are unaware the standards have changed and anything higher than 3.0 is now considered hypothyroid according to AACE:

thyroid.about.com/cs/hypothyroid … stions.htm
"Since late 2002, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) and other professional groups have recommended a narrower TSH reference range of 0.3 to 3.0. This means that hyperthyroidism is now suspected at TSH levels below 0.3, while levels of 3.0 and above are considered potentially indicative of hypothyroidism. To learn more about these standards, check out Does Your Doctor Know About the New TSH Lab Standards? – thyroid.about.com/cs/testsforthy … bs2003.htm

Serum (blood) DHT results are apparently not the best indicator of true DHT levels… 24 hour urine panel and markers for 5AR activity are – propeciahelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=761

Elevated Progesterone I cannot comment on at this point as I have not investigated it but will do some digging soon… suggest you do some research as well.

As for taking Progesterone to lower DHT, not sure if I’d go for that considering it’s effects as listed here…

Thanks Mew.

I know about the hypothyroidism stuff.

But on one hand, I have an endo that says my I am hypothyroid and who gave me progesterone to lower dht, while my dht test was wrong, progesterone already too high.

On the other hand, I have another endo which whom I have an appointment in a few weeks, that recommended me to stop every treatment and who do not think I am hypothyroid.

And plus, I took Euthyral (T3+T4) during one month without feeling any benefit.

I will do some search about progesterone too. And will print what you gave me to show it to my endo, thanks mew.

Update :

new test results

FSH : 4 (1.5-12.4)
LH : 7 (1.7-8.6)
Testosterone : 7 (3-8)
Estradiol : 36 (10-40)
DHT : 2.89 (1.13-4.13)
SDHEA : 5663 (2110-4920)
Delta 4 androstenedione : 12.57 (1.74-7.68)
Prolactin : 16 (4-15)

TSH : 3.13 (0.3-4.2)
T4 : 0.69 (0.7-1.8)
Cortisol : 232 (62-194)

and others that are in range…

I went to a new endo, who asked me to make those tests.
She saw them and said everything was ok, even though some are out of range. She does not believe that fin can do that. I told here I was fine during my other 21 years and during one month the second time I take this shit, I experience all that scary stuff, and she still does not want to admit it. Well, what can I say ?

I am really disappointed as I thought I would get something at least to lower prolactin. I have severe chest aches, and puffy nipples. But she said this is not gyno, so…

She sent me to make new tests though, echography of the chest, scanner of my whole body, and an appointment with another endo who is a professor.

Well, I think I must now give up with the docs, I’m fed up with being full of hope during 2 months, to hear that all may be in my head… I think now i will “try” to live with it and that’s all.
Of course I will do everything I can to improve my condition : no smoking, no alcohol (shit…), better food, good sleep… during a while at least.

I know my condition is not as worse as others : I can reach full erection and even if I think my libido is not what it was, I can do it, I have a comprehensive, wonderful and very nice girlfriend, very supportive…
But what a mess to suffer like this… :frowning:

And in addition, I think I will try to eat some brocoli every day (I hate it) as it may soften the pelvic pain and lower estradiol… who knows…

.

I’ve been off propecia for 5 months now.

Yes I do have problems apart libido issues : serious pain in my testicles and pelvic area, chest pain, breathing difficulties, brain fog.

My nipples are definitely bigger than before but the echography did not show a rise in mammar gland.

I ordered L-Tyrosine which I did not receive still and I’m starting to take zinc, magnesium. I cut out alcool last week and I try to sleep well. Well, I have noticed that brain fog seems to happen less, which is a good thing.

I feel that with a good lifestyle and some products to help, I can fix this !

hello, new blood tests :

Cortisol : 181 ng/ml (55-288)

ASAT : 44 (11-42)
ALAT : 129 ( 8-36) > strange because i checked it one month ago and it was within range

Prolactine : 10.2 (3-14)

Testosterone : 10.3 (2.8-8)
Free Testosterone : 25 (9-55)
DHT : 1.13 (0.33-1.2)
DHEA : 5453 (2110-4920)

  • They found some blood in my shit.

WELL, at last i finally got some improvement, even if it is not that much.
I have taken L-Tyrosine for 2-3 weeks now and i really feel my nipples dont hurt as much as before. First time in 6 months so it’s cool. No wonder my prolactin is a little bit down (i was under l-tyrosine since 5 days when the test was taken). I also feel I have less brain fog, but not 100% sure.

ALAT is high, but it is strange, as last month it was within range, so i dont know what to think of it.

Testosterone is pretty high, whereas free testosterone is low. Strange.

I’m pretty sure now i am hypothyroid, granted some of my other symptoms that persists, my former blood tests results, the fact that i feel there is something stuck in my throat, breathing difficulties, difficulty swallowing and so on… this my next battle…

Otherwise, problems that are still there, among others :
-fucking pelvic pain (sometimes testicles pains)
-veins on my penis
-difficulty breathing
-digestion problems
-slight gyno is still there, maybe surgery in the future…
etc.

it’s a long road but i’m happy i got some improvements those last days. Actually these are the first improvements in my condition since september. i only hope it will not back down.

.

hello solonjk,

i’ve been doing well those last days…

I’ve detailed my story here :
