You’re not 100% powerless. You can go on Adam Held’s show and let your voice be heard:

Trust me, Merck is listening to these shows, as are many other members of the media.

For me its clear.Merck have the Licencse to kill People, destroy their Lives and make Money of them.
They can murder the half earth its no Problem, nobody will say or do what against, its ok.
Nobody will punish them, no Court, No Police, Even not Obama himself.

And the only true Studyobjects of their crappy drugs ar we all!!

We innocent, naive, poor People.

Fuck it

Full statement this week on Nuvaring from Merck spokesperson Lainie Keller:

“Nothing is more important to Merck than the safety of our medicines and vaccines and the people who use them. Merck employees, and our families, use Merck medicines, too. Our deepest sympathies go out to those who are suffering from an injury or loss of a loved one.”

Wow. Complete 180 shift from her rude, dismissive, callous statement in the Toronto Star piece.

And they’re not guilty of any wrongdoing, but they’re paying off the plaintiffs to the tune of $100 million.

If I were the CEO of a company – any company – and I were 100% certain my company had done nothing wrong, I would never fork over a cent to any plaintiff.

So please explain Merck’s logic here.

For an excellent analysis of how/why Merck managed to get off so cheaply after killing NuvaRing customers vs. its Vioxx customers, read this:

jurist.org/dateline/2014/04/kris … 0LjYlc0jlw

NuvaRing plaintiffs accepted Merck’s $100 million settlement.

I like what the plaintiff’s lead attorney, Roger Denton–who noted that 83 of the plaintiffs were (allegedly) killed by the Merck contraceptive–said:

“Hopefully we provide an awareness to the users of this product that just because they are FDA-approved does not mean they are necessarily safe for all users. People, particularly young women, need to be aware of this.”

Bravo.

But I am not too impressed with Merck’s statement:

“We encourage women to work jointly with their health care providers to discuss the benefits and risks of any contraceptive method before choosing an option that is right for them."

So what Merck, by paying up the $100 million, is essentially saying is, “Yes, our products can kill you. So talk to talk to your doctor first before deciding if death is right for you.”

The problem is, Merck does not put that admission on its labeling. If they did, no one in her right mind would use NuvaRing, and the world would be a better place for it.

Except of course for Merck board members, who’d be forced to take an annual-bonus reduction–and move their East Hampton summer homes from beachfront property to one block back from the beach. (Boo-hoo.)

Note that Merck ONLY issues statements. There is never anyone at the company who has the guts to go on camera.

Also note in the CNN package that Merck says in a statement:

“While there is a very small risk of a blood clot when using NuvaRing or any combined hormonal contraceptive, this risk is much less than the risk of blood clots during pregnancy and the immediate post-partum period.”

What on earth does that mean?

Pregnancy and giving birth are not contingent on prescription drugs. Every woman who gets pregnant knows there are natural risks. That’s pure biology. But all parties involved in the pregnancy work to ensure that those risks are monitored and minimized every step along the way.

On the other hand, no woman NEEDS to use NuvaRing. If NuvaRing were suddenly wiped off the face of the planet, human kind would not be altered one iota.

So what Merck, in its poor attempt at spin, is really saying is:

(A) By using NuvaRing, any woman who first wants to practice birth control and then have a child later in life is INCREASING her overall chance of blood clots during that process.

(B) Any woman who does not want to have a child, though still wants to have sex, faces one of the same potentially fatal risks as women who do opt to have children, albeit the former group has a slightly less chance of succumbing to that risk. That’s like saying, If you buy defective mountain-climbing boots but never go mountain-climbing, you still have a risk of tumbling down a mountain.

How such morons ever got a license to develop and sell pharmaceutical products is beyond me.

The parents of Erika Langhart, who likely lost her life due to the Merck product NuvaRing, have established a foundation similar to the Post Finasteride Syndrome Foundation.

It’s called Informed Choices for Amerika:

I really dont know why people havent found where the Merck execs live.
The FDA and the government are on their side.
Instead of people on here taking their own lives, why not give a little karma back to those who deserve it, if you are already suicidal what do you have to lose.
I know if I ever got to that stage I would make it my mission to serve my own justice on them.

I heard today that the U.S. spent 1.5 trillion pounds on their war in Iraq which has the left the country with a power vacuum just ripe for terrorists. This amount of money can be spent on fighting questionable wars abroad and yet a blind eye is turned when it comes to the horrors wrecked on its own citizens and thousands of innocents abroad. This is a fucking sick joke. The current system whereby the only recourse is financial compensation through the courts which does no significant harm to these so-called pharmaceutical giants and leaves them with no accountability really should change. If there were criminal sanctions for these criminal acts then maybe the motivation might be there to actually care about their customers rather than just their share holders. Maybe the day will come when a disenfranchised and powerless customer will put the issue on the map by providing justice themselves, like the previous poster said.

I have thought about that Mikey alright. The execs and the scientists deserve some proper proper justice. If you ever saw one in person it could get awful messy.it would be impossible to hold back.theyre not human.what kind of human being would recklessly put that poison on the mkt and keep it on the market despite the obvious trouble it is causing.parasites is what they are, not humans.and I honestly believe that 100%.

I think the day when personal justice is done is not that far away. It only takes 1 pissed off PFS guy or family member of a PFS suicide guy to go to the US and track down the vermin at the top of Merck, namely Kenneth C Fraizer and offer out some justice.

I’m a kind of liberal, anti-death penalty guy, but to be honest, I wouldn’t bat an eyelid if this were to happen. I would just feel sorry for the person who enacted the justice as they are the victims in all this. As for the Merck scum, it would actually please me for them to be taken off the shelf. If you wilfully treat people like this and work within a system which protects you and provides them with no real avenue for genuine justice, then this kind of thing could very well happen. I just hope that with the current framework and a ready to judge media, that the real victims would be made known, and the victim who enacted justice not written off as just a crazy.

You know what else pisses me off? People really don’t give a fuck about our problem. Seriously, most don’t care. I’ve actually received an email from a guy that said Propecia SAVED his life because he was suicidal about losing his hair. Can you believe that? I told him that there is much worse things than losing your hair, but he didn’t care.

People only give a shit about this stuff if it affects them directly (victims, family, etc.)

In general, it just seems that people find our problems hard to believe, and they’d rather trust a pharmaceutical company than real people.

The thing is, it’s not just us. Anyone who takes medication for whatever reason could potentially be harmed as things stand. It is therefore in everyone’s interest to be concerned.

I think one of the main disconnects is that this drug fucked us up waaayyy more than what is listed or was described to us. Most people don’t have sympathy because they think we were aware of the side effects or that we are just “crazy.”

There are multiple examples of drugs messing people up, I mean, history is full of examples if this. But where is the outrage? Where are the changes in how drugs come to the market? Nowhere. I guarantee in the future people will look back at this era as a medieval time in medicine. They will say, “Holy shit, doctors used to give people medication without knowing their genetic susceptibilities! Wow, and for cosmetic purposes to boot!”

I agree, everyone should be concerned. I think it may be difficult for outsiders to understand. Hell, it still blows my mind that this is my life now. I can barely wrap my head around it.

I agree these people are pure evil whats been done to us you woundn’t do to an animal.
