i guess he already tried the drug free option. people only resort to sleep meds when they are desperate

Day 3 on 7.5mg remeron. Sleeping deeply. Already more alive downstairs. Unfortunately already gaining weight. I could care less if this medicine somehow helps restore my sexual functioning ill just fight the weight gain. No sugar, no carbs.

i keep taking trazodone. i haven’t managed to make it past 6 hours sleep in a row and I still have probs falling back asleep. but the sleep i get is better sleep. today i feel well.

i’m hoping at some point the early awakening just goes away. but I’m starting to think what I have is due to mild depression.

if you’re doing well on remeron you can aslo ask your doc about mianserin too, it’s basically remeron with a shorter half life…so maybe less sides

The only differences ive made before I started to lose progress are these:
Quit remeron
Quit zoloft
Less working out
Less sun?
Started smoking again
So naturally im trying to put the pieces back. Anxiety is driving me to smoke. Need to stop!!! Ive started lexapro last week. Im back on remeron. I hit my squats on sunday. Maybe I can get back to where I was. Maybe theres nothing I can do. Maybe im making things worse with lexapro. Who knows! Just gonna stick with this a while and keep trucking.

100mg of trazodone last night. Had Nocturnal erections and sexual dreams. Penis is more sensitive today I even had the urge to masturbate. Will stick with this for a while.

i know it can cause priapism but i heard there were only a few cases … well, then again, why have i arrived in this forum right?

i too am scared of priapism. it’s playing with odds. on the other side i have sitting there pregabalin which i think will be a solution, maybe even better than trazodone.

i started on 50mg trazodone yesterdaynight. i slept very well…my insomnia is turning me into a “disabled” person so i need some help to sleep…otherwise i’d avoid this medication

Going to take 75mg tonight. For me the benefits outweigh risks. I have to move forward with life here. I am just spinningy wheels lately.

Ok been on remeron last few nights. 7.5mg. Nocturnal erections. Bigger fuller balls and penis. Time and time again I come back to this medicine. Getting off lexapro that was a crazy idea. All I need is deep sleep, and nocturnal erections to fuel my sexual recovery. If only this medicine didmt make me fat. Remeron has very low anticholinergic effects so it doesnt negatively effect erections.

Guys im determined to get to the bottom of this. Am I making my insomnia worse with medicine? Should I give my body time to recover naturally? Its so hard to do when as soon as I get off the medicine I lose sexual functioning such as sensitivity and lust. So I am forever chasing the perfect sleep aid. And im afraid there is no such thing. Any suggestions?

  • You’re switching medicines too fast. Just either stick to one, or leave them all alone. that’s not going to help you, medicines like remeron (mirtazapine) have big half-lifes and will stay in your system for some days, so you are potentially mixing methods of action of different medications.
  • Remeron shouldn’t make you fat @7.5mg/day if you decide to balance your diet and exercise (which is anyway something you must do if you have PFS).
  • Anti depressives affect the HPTA too and they come with their own set of side effects. I think what you’re asking is something only you can decide. In the past I decided not to take anything. I also had lots of free time so I could sleep whenever, or sleep in. So I managed to ± recover my sleep debt. But then I started working and it was impossible to recover the sleep debt. My problem only got worse with time. I quit my job many times and moved back home (different countries) becuase I couldn’t take the insomnia anymore and I refused to take medication. I thought medication would reduce my life expectancy…I’m not sure anymore, but I’m pretty sure that insomnia will… so if you can take the insomnia, then maybe give it a few months to see if your PFS is improving. But remember insomnia also comes with its problems,…so its up to you…

maybe you can try the methilation protocol…with the b6, b9 and b12 actived vitamins

you definitely want to try the methylation protocol, it improved my sleep so much. Start with folate, b12 (methylcobalamin), selenium and magnesium in low doses and give it at least one week. You may sleep worse in the first days but after a week you should see improvements. Also try to get up early, thats very important.

Can you point me to a post that covers the protocol? There’s a bunch of related posts, but I can’t find one that sums up what is involved and how to get started.

Also, can you describe the improvements in your sleep and how you know they might be related to this protocol?

Another forum member that is very pleased with his protocol. Vit C, Tongkat Ali and Alpha Lipoic Acid are not related to methylation (afaik).

When I first tried the methylation protocol I instantly noticed an increase in energy and motivation. That actually led to worse sleep in the first days but although I didn’t sleep, I was pretty happy and had much energy in the following days. After about 3 days or so I started to sleep better. Because of this improvement I was able to cut down the dosage of my sleep med to 1/4.

Since 2 months I don’t need any sleep pills at all. But that has more likely to do with my other recovery efforts.

Youre right. Gonna stick with my natural sleep supplement and l arganine + pycnogel. I may go to GNC and try these things youve posted. Looks kindof confusing but its worth a shot. Im stressing out and making things worse. Im sure if my girl wants to have sex I could perform. Just want to improve feeling in my penis. Its very disheartening to not feel it down there.

They say you dont know what you have until its gone. Well I felt nearly recovered while on remeron this past summer. Now I feel almost worse than ever. Digestion problems, depression, insomnia, weight gain, sexual numbness, and feel sick all the time. There is nothing to debate here I will get back on 7.5mg remeron and get back in the gym. I feel like ive deteriorated since being off the med. I just hope I can get back to where I was.
