Heart Beat

Before fin I jogged everyday and had a very healthy heart (never noticed anything like I do now).

I recently took a physical test for my paramedic course… For the test they attached a heart monitor around my thoracic area where the heart is. I then ran a beep test up and down stairs. Once my heart rate passed a certain rate they stopped me. I Scored horrible on the test. I wasn’t even out of breathe but my heart was beating too fast!

I didn’t think much of it at the time but lately I have been noticing my pulse when i am resting and it seems to be beating pretty fast at times. As well as i sometimes get mild dyspnea (feels like i’m not getting enough oxygen).

Has anyone else felt this after or during the drug?

I am only 23, was very very healthy, never took street drugs, never smoked, and kept in great shape my entire life. It’s very new for me to have my heart beating so fast at times of no excerise…

Yep, been there. Don’t know how my heart rate still is. It got better for me but I still get periods where my heart pumps way too fast. If you’re pressure is too low, or blood too thin, then your heart needs to work much harder.

This effect is controlled by improper smooth muscle control and by the kidneys. The veins and arteries get bigger and smaller to control blood pressure through smooth muscle constriction. It’s the same mechanism that causes an erection.

So the side has been noticed, don’t know what to do about a cure :frowning:

Hey heyder,

I had developed heart palpitations when I was taking the poison. I no longer have those. Most of the guys I have seen on this forum have been able to get past these kinds of problems, once they have been off of the stuff for a little while. It’s the sexual sides, muscles, etc that are real hard to recover from.

How long have you been off?

me too, Ill run up my upstairs to my bedroom sometimes, and i’ll notice my heart beat going really really fast when I get to the top…

I’m 4 months of and a week Boston

I got this while on the drug and off the drug. Not as bad now. Just get it once in a while. I noticed it when I’d come out of a hot shower and also when I laid down on my side in bed right before going to sleep.

I notice that when i do light exercise my heart beats alot harder and faster than it used to, usaully accompined with a shortness of breath. This has only become noticeable now (6 months or so off) since my body has stabilized. Stabilized at a point of about 30% of its former self.

Heyder, sad to tell you this, but it took many of us close to a year to rid ourselves of many of the sides.

good luck

At least a year closer to 2 IMO

I’ll fight through it, I’m a fucking ninja.

Which side effects went away for you and others boston?

-I’ve been battling trying to keep my emotions and libido… They come and go, i get good results with things then they taper off after a few days.

-small testicles… may be due to varocecle
-ED really bad at times good at others
-penile curve/slight shrinkage and wrinkling

I think I’ve beat the lack of energy and fatigue… my jogging helped this big time. Also have had no muscle wastage as far as I can see.

Does anyone know about palpitations and sclerosis of aortic valve some sideeffect of Proscaar-usage ?

I’ve seen some posts about heart palpitations, but nobody seems to be having them as bad as me, so I thought I would see if there are others with similar issues. I’ve been off Propecia for 3.5 mo after about 6 years of continuous use. Earlier this year around May I went for a run and thought I would have to drive myself to ER because it felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest. I can recall having heart palpitations since I was around 18, but they would be one here one there. The severity and frequency of what I experienced during my run was scary though.

Ever since that day, I’ve been having this problem, which gets increasingly worse with increase in physical activity. At their worst, I would have no palpitations when lying down in bed, but as soon as I would start moving around they would come on. If I were to jog, they would be really bad. There was a clear co-relation between the level of activity and how bad the palpitations were.
I went to a cardiologist and he did two stress tests. The first one was with ultrasound and the second was nuclear, both came back normal. He also did a blood test and everything heart related seemed normal. I also wore a halter monitor for 24 hours, which recorded something like 2,400 palpitations during that time period. After finding this forum and showing some information from here and other sites to my cardiologist, we both agreed that Propecia might be the cause, so I quit cold turkey.

After 3 – 4 weeks of quitting, palpitations all but went away and stayed away for about a month, only to return. They are not as bad as they were, but are still very noticeable and extremely frequent with aerobic exercise; if I had to guess, probably one every 10 heart beats if I’m running on the treadmill.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I FEEL THE OPPOSITE, MY HEART NEVER BEATS, ITS LIKE THERE NOTHING THERE. NO EMOTION, NO NOTHING, I NEVER GET EXCITED!

Rapid heart beat and/or palpitations are not a direct causal link to emotions. These posters are discussing physical problems with their heart rhythms.

I get the same thing with the heart…it is directly related to your cortisol dropping too low. Anytime it ever happens I can take 2.5mf-5mg of hydrocortisone and it completely goes away.

The “air hunger” you mention pretty much confirms that its cortisol/adrenal related.

That is pure speculation. Without bloodwork, nothing is for sure. Basing treatment claims on speculation is dangerous.

I went to the doc today for an ear infection and they said my heart rate was 124. That’s insane because all I did was just drive over from work and had been at my desk just on the computer for the prior few hours. Since Fin I’ve gotten really out of shape.

Was talking one day to the mail carrier who delivers to my office and he said he has a resting heart rate in the 60’s. Guy’s in his late 40’s too.

There’s definitely something too this. I had very low cortisol for a while when I came off of this poison, so maybe Mew’s explanation has some merit.

I recall one occassion when I was on the poison, I felt like my heart was beating so rapadly I thought I was going to have a heart attack and drove myself to the hospital. It was damn scarey.

Yeah, I had a crazy screwed up heart beat for a few days after I took three emergen-C’s in one day as I thought the vitamin C would be good… stupid of me to not look at the label and see all the other random vitamins/metals in it so I have no idea what caused it… I’m leaning towards the B12 or the Zinc.

I would look at each of the vitamins/minerals you are taking and get off everything. Stick to a healthy diet until things level out, then start re introducing your vitamins one at a time for a week and see if one of them caused it… I know I have serious issues with B12 so that’s what I was leaning towards as maybe causing the problem for me. I also had a messed up heart beat, really rapid after I bought salmon from a regular grocery store… found out through research that it was the red dye in the salmon which contained high amounts of MSG that caused the problem for me.

Hope that can help you.

Bryce, why don’t you try to eat normal foods high in vitamin C rather than taking supplements? It should be easy to get enough vitamin C and other vitamins and minerals if you are eating properly.
