genital numbness - experiences?

I think this has merit in my case especially given the numbness and frequent and uncontrollable urination problems. I also think this is why I feel so much better while not sitting. Everything is better when I’m up and moving around as opposed to using the computer.

Honestly unless you have a rampant infection I think antibiotics do more harm than good.

Regarding the prostate size, merck’s language is that “dht controls prostate growth and 1 mg propecia reduces serum dht levels by on average 65%”. Do you have backup stating fin reduces prostate size by that much?

I don’t think your condition will improve on fin but if you decide to take it again you are a brave or stupid guinea pig, time will tell which…

I saw an expert on fineristide use for men with prostate cancer. The 5mg dosage given to them reduces the prostate by 75% which in turn reduces the size of the cancer. Procepia has just 1mg of fin, so in our cases the size reduction one would asumme to be less.

This specialist belives that when the prstate is reduced and then almost over night (i.e coming off fin) came back to normal size the glad can become enflammed or even enlrged more so than before fin. He tested by postate and was cofident the size was normal, but there are no tests to check for prstate infect or very difficult to test.

I disagree that it’s not significant. If DHT is reduced on average with 5mg by 70% and propecia 65% why would the prostate shrinkage be significantly different?

There’s some interestiing discussion regarding this topic on anabolic minds. Many think E is too blame others think it’s just simply a free T thing. Check it out.

The fact that many of the guys that used different steriods experience this, seems a little more reassuring to me. At least the gives us some hope that it might be something simply hormonal rather than dead cells.

I disagree. In my case, and I’m assuming for most, the numbness (loss of sensation, loss of pleasureable nerves, loss of feeling to touch) in genital skin does not fluctuate. It’s present every day, 24/7. It doesn’t improve, or get worse, it’s constant and always the same.

This started to occur for me within 3 days as 5AR2/DHT was being inhibited in those specific tissues, and it has never recovered, not even 5 years later. Penis and scrotum feel like rubber, no pleasureable response to tactile stimulation, nor even feeling of pain when pinched. The skin has basically lost its nerve response, similar to getting numbed cheeks or gums when you go to the dentist, or like touching the top of your foot.

I agree it would be nice to hope that, but again (and I can only speak for myself), my situation has not resolved. The numbness and loss of feeling in the skin remians permanent. Whatever Finasteride did when it inhibited 5AR2/DHT in those tissues, they never recovered.

Having read about what happens when you deprive penile tissues of androgen (fibrosis, reduced vascularity, atrophy, cell apoptosis, collagenous deposits, reduced Nitric Oxide activity, etc), it seems pretty obvious some serious damage was done and either 5AR2, DHT, or AR activity has not been restored in these tissues post-drug.

This is just my particular case but it seems to be a common problem shared by many.

I totally agree with Mew. In my case the numbness is present every day, 24/7. It has not improved or gotten worse, it’s always constant. I have not even recovered 7 (!!) years later - this is how long I am suffering from the side effects! I don’t feel pleasure or pain. An urologist pinched a needle into my glands and I have felt nothing. He told me that there is definitely something not ok. He told me I should call Merck and tell them my problem - that was his only advice since he could do nothing for me.
Slowly but surely I am accepting my “new” condition. It took me 7 years to gradually accept it. This is the only way to go on with my life. I have been to so many doctors - sadly nobody could help me.

Just another question. Mew what do you think about the prostatitis theory. Doctors could rule that out for me. However, there are different forms of prostatitis and there might be a “hidden” prostatitis which docs have overlooked.
All the years I have the feeling that something with my prostate (or at least something inside the pelvic floor - I am not sure) is wrong. I have a constant “slight pressure” inside the pelvic floor area. I am considering of taking antibiotics

i’m focused on prostatitis to solve my situation.
my sit wasn’t worse, however after crash i experienced months of total rubber sensation.

that now is gone, sensitivity is ok but my main issue is the famous “slight pressure” (or bowling ball on belly, depends from days)

this pressure or clogging in my case is that thing that decrease pleasure sensation and the arousal in some way

when happens that this pressure is gone, i regain my old self for a while. the problem is that after max 1 month it comes again …

I’m searching a good prostate anti inflammatory

there can be some exams that evidence that things?

how many of u guys have checked the dimension of prostate?

Prostatitis does not develop overnight in 3 days, cause penile fibrosis or atrophy, collagenous deposits, genital numbness etc.

Androgen deprivation does. You deprived your penis of DHT in the exact tissues where 5AR2 is localized. This isn’t rocket science.

Also, just FYI – I got tested for prostatitis and the culture and urine sample turned up NEGATIVE.

Let’s keep this thread on track please. If you wish to discuss prostatitis, do so in the Prostate subforum.

I was able to reverse the numbness with low dose naltrexone. I took it to help me with colitis and the reversal of the numbness was a nice unexpected benefit

What dose did you take and could you recommend a source?

naltrexone?

is for opioid dependence, but i found this

Sexual dysfunction

Naltrexone can induce early morning erections in patients who suffer from psychogenic erectile dysfunction. The exact pathway of this effect is unknown. Priapism has been reported in two individuals receiving Vivitrol.

Naltrexone has been shown to be effective in the reversal of sexual satiety and exhaustion in male rats.[28]

Oh nice! What is your chief complaint now? Any ED?

okay I’m a little confused on what is numbness and what isn’t…Once in a while the numbness I feel isn’t numbness at all its kind of a pain numbness feeling, and it usually happens when I drink (alcohol). Its just a weird sensation that I get when I drink…I guess I shouldn’t call it numbness because I actually feel it. I guess you could describe it as like when your hand leg or foot “falls asleep” from sitting in an awkward position or something.

As far as numbness is concerned, the sensation in my penis does shift… so sorry Mew you are wrong. In the morning, i have very little sensation feeling, but it improves as the day goes on. Even if I have an morning erection the lack of sensitivity feeling is even less…

toadstool,
the numbness I am talking about is a numbness like when you go the dentist and get a narcosis. I feel neither pain (e.g. when pinching a needle in the gland) nor pleasure (when trying to maturbate or sexual intercourse). It is a constant feeling every day and it doesn’t change. Just as Mew has reported. However, everybody reacts differently to finasteride and there are many people on the forum who do not suffer from numbness but from other issues. As far as I am concerned I am suffering from penile numbness, ED (no morning/nocuturnal/spontaneous erections), low libido, extremely reduced ejaculate and sleeping problems. Thats it for me.

I don’t mean to further contradict you here, but Merck’s product literature regarding Proscar states:

There is a significant difference here and if the expert you quote has data to back this up it would be well heeded in a lawsuit.

yes that is exactly the feeling I get when I drink. Thank you for explaining it better for me… I dont get it often though… as I said… usually when I drink… But early on in my suffering it was there often, but now its gone unless i drink.

Sounds like you have an unrelated issue compared to the rest of us then. Getting a numb dick is a possible side effect of excessive alcohol intake. If you only get this issue when you drink, it sounds like you aren’t suffering from the same Finasteride-induced numbness issue as others here.

As mentioned previously, Finasteride-induced genital numbness does not fluctuate, it is constant and significantly reduces sensation of foreskin and scrotal tissue, to the point of being unable to feel pain or pleasurable nerve response from touch. Drinking makes no difference, abstaining from alcohol makes no difference, it is permanent 24/7, 365 days a year.

Wow Mew, that is such a ridiculous post, and hugely disappointing coming from you. Basically, your saying that varying degrees of severity can’t exist at all? maybe his numbness wouldn’t come and go from drinking alcohol, if it’s as simple as that - maybe he isn’t experiencing real numbness because I think every man loses sensations when there drunk, hence the reason we all joke about taking too long to ejaculate during drunken sex. However, there is every possibility that he is experiencing slight numbness normally and being drunk just amplifies it.

To qualify as having ‘PFS related numbness’ it can’t vary? that’s just bullshit and you know it. If our conditions have anything to do with hormones, fluctuation is EXACTLY what will happen.
