Can you recover from three weeks of this poison?

My story? I took 3 weeks worth of propecia (the last week was on and off cutting the pills in half). I never took the pill routinely. I would go 2 days or so of not taking it.
It’s been 2 1/2 months now and I still have sexual sides. I can stay erect for sex but my ejacs are bland and weak. I cannot get a spontaneous erection… without serious thought. Morning erections are weak.
Has anyone recovered from three weeks worth of this poison pill? What was your approach to it ?

I had my blood test do.e three weeks back. Will also post.

Woke up today with a morning erection. Definately not full mass though. I would say it was about 60-70 percent erect. Some how I feel this was more erect than last morning. Unsure…

Cialis gets me as hard as a donkey for 4 days straight but Definatly don’t want to live off it.

Woke up today with another morning erection today. Felt like it was about 70%. I was not able to bend my erection which is good. I feel like my sensitivy is coming back as well. I was able to bust a load the other day within 10 min. I also don’t feel so rubbery after bust a load.

Seeing Dr. Alan Jacobs tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

I think I have had some progress in my recovery. Fingers crossed, the progress will continue.

Ihave noticed the following improvements in the past two weeks.

  1. I can once again get aroused when speaking fresh to my gf over the phone. Although I cannot get fully erected but this was not the case a few weeks back.

  2. I can once again get aroused by erotic thoughts or porn.

  3. I have been getting morning erections for the past two weeks. I would say they are 70% erect.

  4. I can once again get spontaneous erections around my gf. Again they are about 70% full.

  5. My pubic hairs are growing at an increased rate.

  6. My focus and concentration has increased.

  7. My penis no longer feels so rubbery when flaccid. I feel like I have some.life in there. I

Negatives

  1. I am still not getting those rock hard erections I had prior to Propecia.
  2. It would be good to get fully aroused with manual touch again.
  3. I am not perspiring as I did prior to the pill.
  4. Don’t get those throttling orgasims I had before.

Can anyone share their thoughts on where they were after 3 months off fin? Where you on your recovery?

what did jacobs say?

Jacobs looked at my Bioavailable Testosterone and said that it was too low. (252 mg/DL). According to him if that number goes up then I Wilk begin to feel better. He also wants to make sure my Estradiol is down compared to my Test level.

I made him aware of my recent improvements and he’s optmistic that I will make a full recovery. I am three months off propecia…fingers crossed!

What do you think of my previous post ?

i think you should stay positive and treat your body very well from this point forward

did jacobs have anything interesting to say about our syndrome?

He referenced his previous blog post that he had on his website. He believes that the symptoms around pfs can be corrected. But that they are clearly hormonal in nature. He’s conducting a survey to all his patients who experienced side effects from the drug.

Other than that he did not comment on pfs and what’s the cause if it.

interesting … we are till waiting for some of his 300+ success stories to come forward, but we have not had any luck … seems shady

take care of yourself and relax

petillamala- I also saw Jacobs last May and he advised the same treatment protocol. he wanted me to take testosterone injections, as I also had low T and low bioavailable T. Due to the fact that I didnt read one real positive response taking TRT on this board, I avoided it. Do you think you are going to try the treatment protocol of his? If you do would you be willing to report back to all of us?

I am three months into my recovery and have seen positive results without taking any meds only supplements. That said I probably will not take any meds unless I must. My next bloodtest will show if my bio T is improving or not. I suspect it is as I have been feeling much better in the past two weeks.

Only sides I noticed is that my erection are not as superhard as pre fin. And my ejaculated is not as potent. I have been having morning/nocturnal erections for the past 2 weeks.

I don’t know your situation. How bad are your sides? What were your T levels?

Thats a good sign for sure. I was hit extremely hard but had no noticeable side effects until after I stopped taking the drug (took it for 9 years, looking back had gum deterioration some excess belly fat which I now attribute to it, but no sexual problems at all, in fact I was horny all the time in the last 2-3 years taking it) Within 2 weeks after taking the drug my legs and upper arms got small (loss of sub cutaneous fat), face was constantly red (rosecea like appearance), penis was numb and curved to the left, libido was gone, skin became thin and I could see veins easily etc. My outer eyebrows shedded, hair on my lower legs shedded, digestion issues, brain fog, low body temperature, freezing cold hands and feet. I had low T and low bioavailable T as well as upper high cortisol.

So its been about 12 months off, for the first 1-6 months I would have 2-3 bad weeks and 2-3 decent days. In those bad weeks I would have softer erections and no libido and when I did orgasm I couldnt feel it. There was no pleasure at all. That seemed to go away after the 6 months mark and now 95% of the time I acutally have pleasurably orgasms so I know something is improving for sure. I also have more days with libido. My body is also not as cold, and I am having stretches of feeling better all around. I also have taken nothing! I have a theory of what has happened to us and so far the science seems to be heading that way so I dont believe maniuplating hormone levels will do anything to fix it. HOWEVER, do not get discouraged because there seems to be a cycle to this, and sometimes at times when I feel like I am out of the woods and headed towards recovery, BAMMMM! I crash back down.

So what do you think happened to us? What were your bio t levels? I am just hoping that since I took it for 20days on/off that I should recover.

My theory, again this is my beleif, is that Finasteride somehow affected the progesterone receptor in the brain, it created an imbalance of Progesterone/Estrogen ratio in favor of estrogen, probably dramatically. I have posted many studies that basically demonstrate researchers purposefully use finasteride to destroy the protective affects of cells pre-treated with progesterone. I will say that again, lol…when they want to destroy (immediately) the protective affects of progesterone, they applied finasteride to the cells. The fact that some of the studies say immediately help explain the guy who took one pill and minutes later ran to the bathroom with testicle pain and numbness. I feel that this is what happend for many reasons 1) our symptoms seem to suggest some form of estrogen dominance, which can downregulate thyroid, hormones etc, 2) the studies of what finasteride does to progesterone and its 5ar metabolites, 3) The neurosteroid conference that was held in Italy where 3 patients who had persistent sexual dysfunction after discontinuation shared a common clinical setting of reduced 5ar metabolies in the central nervous system and reduced levels of dopamine in the brain. 4) my own experience of drinking heavily and then having huge upward spikes in my condition, alcohol supposedly increases plasma levels of progesterone and allogpregenalone in the brain. 5) about a million other things that I am currently putting together that point to this lol. Again this is my own theroy but I think this is where the science is headed. Do I think people improve? Yes I do, the problem is two fold 1) two what degree of recovery, and 2) how long can it take…it may be years.

Okay Fin creates a increase of estrogen to progesterone ratio…then I guess that ultimately leads to lower bio T levels? So in theory paralyzing estrogen to allow testosterone to increase should improve symptoms?

I say this because I am taking a supplement Anti Estrogen called A HD. Not sure its affects but I noticed gradual improvement in the past two weeks.

No, PFS has nothing to do with “somehow affecting the progesterone receptor in the brain, creating an imbalance of Progesterone/Estrogen ratio in favor of estrogen.” That’s meaningless rambling like most stuff on this board. If you are serious about treatments, then focus on raising awareness about the condition, to draw more scientists and funds to the research

You are going to eat your words Second Amendment. Wow, u are miserable SA. I have been improving greatly, hope you are as well.

to be honest, our theories are pointless. the only way we are going to understand this is through scientific research, which will be done by the pfs foundation. peoples theories on this forum accomplish absolutely nothing. this is a fact.

again finatruth, while it is great that you are better, most of us, including myself, do not improve with time no matter what we do, and our symptoms become progressively worse

Let me ask you something Lennon, do you drink alochol? do you excessively drink acohol? Get really wasted every few weeks?

once in a while i will have a bit of white wine as it makes me feel better mentally, but i never drink heavily because i feel a massive increase in estrogen as well as a worsening of all of my symptoms

not everyones experience with alcohol is the same as yours … some react as you do, others like myself do not
