Blood tests - IthinkFingotmetoo

Here’s some blood test results. There are multiple dates and an MRI summary included.

Interested to know if my T/E ratio is “normal.”

Any info will help.

Thanks,

Matt

Help me out here guys!

E2 is at 43.94 PG/ML (5-65 range)

Testosterone has been at 362 and 296.

Free T 12 (9-30 range).

Triglycerides high 300+ and 500+

My Thyroid numbers seem to be at the low end of the accepted range.

The Testosterone/Estrogen ratio would be around 8. Is that right?

Are you on TRT or Clomid?

Your testosterone is very low.

What they doing to address your hypogandism?

Thanks for the reply Tiger,

No doctor seems to want to do too much. Apparently nothing SCREAMS “major problem here” on my blood work.

I’m not sure I want to jump into hormone therapy; I mean, the last time I messed with my hormones didn’t end up so well…

I’m worried about that Test/Est ratio. I see websites that claim 20:1 or even 50:1 is “optimal.”

If that’s the case, then my “8” is horrendous.

Can anyone else shed some light on this for me?

Yes, I can certainly attest to the necessity of HRT. In my case, took Propecia for 7 years, quit for 3.5 years after finally discovering the root cause for so many health issues.

If you don’t do HRT, the symptoms or behaviour experiences are VERY much similar to what happens if you were castrated. Similar to major PMS symptoms of women.

Look up the chart on Testosterone levels by age group. My first lab showed 188, the equivalent of a man who is 120 years old. (Beyond the hart range)
And I was 46 at time of test.

The initial T injections, weekly, began at .25mg. Subsequent lab results prompted my doc to increase the dose TWO times. From .25 to .35, then recently to .70.
PM me for more info or ?

Towm8er,
Are you feeling better with the HRT? There are so many reported cases here that proves that HRT is not the way out of this condition. Please let me know.

Found Testosterone lab work from the day BEFORE I started Finasteride:

Testosterone, Serum Result: 291 Range: 348-1197 ng/dL

I was a “Low T” guy before taking Finasteride, so low testosterone (which was determined a long time ago on this site) is not the main issue (at least for me).

Wow are you sure? That’s really low levels, obvious ratios are more important but that’s really low

Yeah, it seems to be the case. My T is actually higher now, but still in the lower range.

So, with the low T, I wonder if my DHT was REALLY important to my body. Then when I inhibited it, my body couldn’t handle it.

Here’s some more numbers. Still low T and looks like low DHT as well. Anyway, nothing jumps out at me.

dhea-sulfate 280.8 (102.6-416.3 ug/dL)

progesterone 0.6 (0.2-1.4 ng/mL)

estradiol 25.5 (7.6-42.6 pg/mL)

dihydrotestosterone 39 (30-80 ng/dl)

ammonia, plasma 83 (27-102 ug/dL)

cortisol - am 14.0 (6.2-19.4 ug/dL)

testosterone, serum 412 (348-1197 ng/dL)

free testosterone(direct) 14.8 (8.7-25.1 pg/mL)

sedimentation rate-westergren 2 0-15 mm/hr

antistreptolysin o ab 74.8 0.0-200.0 IU/mL

c-reactive protein, quant 1.0 0.0-4.9 mg/L

ra latex turbid. 10.5 0.0-13.9 IU/mL

ana direct Negative Negative

uric acid, serum 6.4 3.7-8.6 mg/dL

Just to be clear, the numbers in the post directly above this one are CURRENT numbers.

More results:

FSH 5.1 (1.5 - 12.4 mIU/ml)

LH 6.2 (1.7 - 8.6 mIU/ml)

TSH 1.450 (0.450 - 4.500 uIU/ml)

T4 Free, direct 1.05 (0.82 - 1.77 ng/dl)

T3 Free, serum 2.7 (2.0 - 4.4 pg/ml)

Reverse T3, serum 23.8 (9.2 - 24.1 ng/dl)

Vitamin D 32.1 (30 - 100 ng/ml)

What’s your BMI?

I have gained a lot of weight since quitting Fin. Not sure if it’s the depression or a side effect (like thyroid issues). My BMI is 31.

Out of curiosity, why?

Losing weight would improve your overall hormone profile, blood pressure, etc… your general health. You should do a water fast of at least 2-3 weeks, that would shed off some fat (10+ kilos) for sure. Then doing some regular exercises (fitness/cardio) would keep the fat off.

Testosterone gets converted to estradiol in fat tissue. Get rid of it and you will see a rise in testosterone and a fall in estradiol and also will start to feel like a man again.

Thanks Fanjeera and Robotmouse. You are right, I need to lose weight. Unfortunately I got my side effects before I gained the weight, so I don’t know how much losing it will help them. It can only help my overall wellness however.

I say Dr. Terry Grossman today, a doctor in Denver that Dr. Crisler recommended. Unortunately Dr. Grossman has really only seen guys with the sexual sides from Propecia. He said he just gives them Cialis and maybe TRT. So…I’m done going to doctors and telling them I have sides from Propecia. I mean, what’s the point? Even if they believe you they can only do so much at this point.

Dr. Crisler and Dr. Grossman were both really nice and neither of the said, “I don’t think your problems are from Finasteride.” So, that was at least refreshing.

Anyway, Dr. Grossman thinks that maybe my body is attacking itself like an autoimmune disorder. Recap: I have severe dry eye, visual problems, crazy itchy skin attacks, fatigue, depression, suicidal ideation, and some other random stuff (can’t handle stress well, feel less smart).

So, he want me to try this:

  1. Low Dose Naltrexone: For autoimmune thing I guess.

  2. Isocort: for my low AM cortisol.

  3. Bergamot: a natural substitute for Metoformin. I have metabolic syndrome, and this supposedly helps I guess.

If anyone has any experience or info about this stuff let me know!

Thanks!

Edit: Dr. Grossman said he’s seen the sexual sides take up to three years to improve. However, he’s probably never had guys that have had them longer stick around to tell him that. Seems to match Finatruth’s experiences.

Obesity always makes things worse no matter what you start from, keeping the fat is a big mistake. Of course PFS can help you a lot in gaining and keeping fat but this is a condition that can be reversed relatively easily compared to libido and some other physical damage. After losing your fat it will be much easier to pick up good habits and a training schedule to keep the fat off and to build up your normal weigh from muscle instead of fat. This isn’t only about “losing weight”. Its rather “replacing fat with muscle”, improving your body composition. Its pointless to watch the scale. Noone cares about your weigh. Weigh is often normal or nearly normal even in case of fatty people. If you lose a lot of fat somehow (for example with fasting) then you body will reclaim some weigh until reaching your normal weigh and if you do nothing than you will probably gain fat again instead of muscle. Without trainings there is no muscle gain and often there is no health.
