Advertisement in the news papers.

Guys I am very serious in running Ads in the news papers like toront stars and Globe and mail etc, basically news papers with farily large circulations. I want to draw the attension of post finasteride users and doctors/sceintists etc. I want precise and effective wording and in the same time want to avoide any backfire from legal perspective.
1-need an all agreed final Ad.
2-cost of the Ad. it is not cheap and we will have to run it for few weeks or maybe months. we need to collect funds as well.

please hlep make the body of the ad and how to share the cost. If some one else (especially one who has no family responsibilities) wants to do this all that would be great.

so please post your possible Ads here.
Also how we should collect the money? setup a bank account and members send money to that account?

I think we should all join a PFS lottery syndicate to raise money for funds. Get a few hundred guys paying in the price of a coffee every week and see if it gets us a decent win after a couple of years.

ok, I am ready to transfer funds. Tell me when… and who is placing the ad.

that is what I mean here. If no body take initiative I think I will have to take the responsibility.
and what about the body of the Ad?
guys come on. stop complaining and do something solid. Sitting in front of your PC for hours will never help you. I can bet if we don’t moblise ourselves there will be no solution for another 50 years. Look at Accutan sufferers, they have been in the mess for more than 20 years, more than us. I am doing this all although I have not used fin.

where are you located?

spstriken,

what I meant is: if the ad is more expensive we can put fund it together. If it doesn’t cost thousands I will do it myself, no question. And I think everybody should do it.

I am from Germany.

yes I think since we are located in different locations we will have to run Ads in our respective cities/countries.
But I think we should agree upon the language of the Ad.
Guys could you please post your sample ads here?

Attention! We Need help .

if your are a Doctor, Biologist, Scientist, Genetic Engineer, Endocriologists or PhD student we need your help please.
we are suffering from persistant side effects (muscle loss, bone loss, memory loss, and complete impotence) from the use of hairloss medicine finasteride / dutsteride. For Detail please visit propeciahelp.com

Guys please let me know how you think about this?

I used to work in marketing for a Fortune 500 company, so maybe I can be of some help here. For an effective ad regarding PFS, I think you really need to

 1. flesh out who the target audience is going to be (doctors and scientists vs. the general public)

and

 1. determine what is the distinct message that you want to convey (you want to pay someone to work on the problem or are you trying to raise awareness)

You can have overlapping target audiences and messages, but for something as controversial and unknown as PFS, you’re going to need a very clear ad in order for it to be effective. Also, depending on who your target is, a large newspaper may not be the best medium for advertising. If your audience is researchers, you won’t want to use the NY Times because you’ll have a lot of wasted impressions (and thus $).

Also consider spending some money on google adwords instead of just in print

spstriken,
I would also cut out detailed side effects, especially muscle, bone and memory loss as these side effects are very rare and raise doubts to the broader public. I would start with sexual side effects, as these are common and almost all of us share these side effects here in the forum (many of us don’t have muscle or bone loss - it is only the minority of the minority).
Thanks for your suggestions.

so please modify mine and post it so that we all can see. guys you all are allowed to modify my wordings untill we finally agree.

I’m sort of joking, sort of serious here.

If 200 guys pay in a dollar/euro/pound a week you have ten grand a year.

I would also cut out dutsteride as almost everybody here took finasteride.
Thanks spstriken

Please don’t take anything I say as an attack on this idea, just trying to help flesh it out a bit.

 1. Why would a research/scientist/doctor respond to this add? What is their incentive?

 2. What additional information are they going to see on propeciahelp.com to help them address our problem without having to pour through a thick of non-scientific posts first?

 3. Would we maybe be better served by trying to connect with more PFS sufferers first, as at this point, this site has a very, very minute % of total propecia users? There are likely a lot of people out there who have sides but haven’t been able to make the connection, especially if they have the cognitive sides (which aren’t listed as a potential effect of the drug).

Not knocking the idea, but these ads remind me of those ambulance chaser lawyer ads, trying to drum up enough interest to commence a class action lawsuit. Which brings up an idea – maybe law firms can contribute funds towards the ads.

Visionquest we are trying to drum up some noise man.

Just a thought: I’m willing to bet most people would ignore the word ATTENTION; It’s all over the place in the ads sections. Wouldn’t it be better to emphasize words such as PROPECIA, FINASTERIDE, and SEXUAL SIDE EFFECTS to catch the attention of those who the ad is targeted towards?
