A warning about SAMe, methylcobalamin, and high-dose B vitamins

Oh shit, I just realized that coffee contains theaflavin which is a known 5ari. To what appreciable amounts in a cup of coffee, I am not sure though. Perhaps thearubigin might have 5ar-i properties as well. Thanks for posting this. That could explain why coffee makes things worse for some users here. Despite knowing this, Iā€™ve been drinking it daily for bowel issues. I am a brain genius. Well, time to cut out coffee to see how things will go.

Coffee increase DHT, as I told you before there are all classes of endocrine disruptors one more than others, but every single thing that you eat will have it, only pure water doesnā€™t have it.

My serum b-12 level was on the high range of normal. In some labs it would be abnormally high.

I was wondering if propecia caused some kind of poor metabolism of b-12. I have no ideaā€¦ my symptoms are sort of like a b-12 deficiency, with muscle twitches and such. So that was why I checked.

Did You give a thought to a possibility that Betaine crashed You mainly because it releases Estrogen from the cells? Also what points to that possibility is that You also developed gyno suddenly. Just an aspect that I would seriously think of that may be behind Your crash, despite for Betaine being a methyl donor, may not be the main mechanism that caused Your worseningā€¦ (this doesnt mean taking high doses of methyls is a good idea)ā€¦ Sometimes we may get too focused on one aspect and miss the real one on the way - just something to keep in mind and consider

Could be I guess? Itā€™s still not totally clear what has happened. Does B12 do this too? Since it happens with B12 also. Do u have a link to this betaine oestrogen effect, itā€™s hard for me to find.

I do not have a direct science link in my hand, but do a search on trimethylglycine (betaine) and estrogen on Google or even on this forum and You will find some clues to that

For example even in this topic - click the original post from gents93 of my reply here

EDIT
According to this article for example - methyl donors in general has a lot to do with Estrogen

Interesting. It makes sense. How would that work in your opinion. How does getting rid of oestrogen causes these kind of symptoms. Just further dysregulation?

Yes, possibly. If You were already high in Estrogen before that - taking Betaine may have tipped You over that upper safe margins cliff. This forum is full of hormonal imbalance causing serious symptoms. But I am not a science guy. I am glad that I pointed to this possibility, hopefully someone loads more knowledgable than me could give You answers. Hopefully this will save You from any drastic future treatments with chemos and stuff, because hormones are way easier to fix safely, even naturally. Good luck

Haha I am still trying demethylation, I was on this theory before this methyl stuff happening to me. I am btw also not trying chemo, just some other demethylation stuff. This methyl donor crash was just a confirmation, but you are right, the betaine might as well point to something else.

I was wondering. Does B12 have similar effects or other effects on oestrogen, since it happens with this substance too in a very similar way. Thanks.

I suppose this was an open question to the forum, but anyway, first search result brought this

Mm this doesnt say a lot if I read it right. Since they use a lot of supplements at once and there could be other reasons. Like treating deficiencies etc. I canā€™t find a direct link between B12 and oestrogen, u can?

Hi guys, very similar extreme severe adverse reaction and crash happened to me after B6, B1, B complex IVs. Went in with pssd and some cognitive fatigue, physically quiet fit. Came out with severe insomnia, B6 toxicity, some unexplicable nervousness without any reason, constantly wired and tired, damaged skin, collagen, muscles, connective tissues, exhausted but canā€™t relax, canā€™t rest, canā€™t excercise, overstressed CNS. Iā€™m about 1 year out and still suffering from insomnia and about all the above things. It fits this overmethylation thing many people talks about. Iā€™m not experienced in it. Before I was calm and relaxed with pssd. My homocystein is recently 11 if I remember (lowish), my B6 was 3x-4x higher than maximum limit after toxicity.

Please recommend something for relaxation/insomnia if you can. Thx

I personally based on my really good experience would say to maybe give a shot to Magnesium L Threonate - in general for many neurological symptoms and potentional relaxation balance, may also help with sleep cycle, but if insuffcient for sleep problems for the insomnia especially I would maybe add also some Magnesium Glycinate at night. With both I would start really low and let the body ajdust to it, only later on optionally I would up the doses, depending on body response. With adding Mg its good to balance Calcium a little as well to it, but no need for supplement, something like eating a small yogurt after a healthy meal and Mg/s as well after a meal should do it

Thanks. Iā€™ve taken Mg glycinate even before that event. Unfortunately it doesnā€™t work for me now.

Do you have clicking jointsm

I donā€™t think so. But have teeth grinding.

Stay away from these synthetic vitamins, they do more harm than good for us.
