14 Day Water Fast - My Improvements

If I were you, I would read (and this should be sufficient IMO):

Dr. J. Fuhrman - Fasting and Eating for health
H. Shelton - Fasting can Save Your Life

The first one is more up to date I believe. Tough it is not much rich of details on “how to do” a fast on your own. In the end of what it’s written in the book, you should see a professional MD to go on a fast safely. (I read this one)
Shelton’s however should be read if you want a more detailed guide (I didn’t read it).

Interestingly, Fuhrman states that hypogonadics should’t fast as he saw many hypogonadics going in troubles with fasts. So be carefull as some of us suffer hypogonadism too, as I do. High intensity physical activity however appears to be restoring my T levels and functionality, so I’ll prosecute this way and see If I get back to normal before taking the risk of a fast.

A good alternative to water fasting if you just can’t make it fit in your life is intermittent fasting. I’m talking about my experience with it in my thread: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6472

you ever go through with this cap? any news?

What have I got to lose? I’m tired of the eye issues, severe itching, and caveman-like brain activity.

It would be for at least 30 days. At 30 days I would assess where I am at before continuing.

I already have a juicer; bought one after seeing “Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead.”

I see some people have tried fasting before; seems to have worked for some and not for others.

My sides:

Eyes: dry, sore, tired, decreased vision, and “floating” words when I look at the computer or written text. Not sure why this occurs; kinda scary.

Skin: must be dry because I get severe itch attacks. The only thing that helps is getting into the bath tub.

Head: it “hurts,” physically and mentally. That’s the best way for me to describe it. I’ve gone from reasonably intelligent and quick-to-learn, to some kind of mental road block that has decreased my mental capabilities.

Anyway, I’ll probably start within a week. If I do it, I will post here to keep track of my progress.

Any advice is appreciated.

I still get e-mails on this thread (received one today) either asking me questions or talking about how they had some success with fasting. If you’ve done a water fast or any type of fast I think you should leave those results here in this thread so other people can decide if this is right for them; it’s what you would want if you were trying to decide.

I frequently get people asking me for an update on my health to see if its persisted so here it is:

My brain fog is still a thing of the past. I had a persistent “swirling” type feeling in my head that caused confusion that is gone and never came back. I’m in a good mood most of the time and can concentrate and complete sentences smoothly (this was definitely not the case before). My body type has definitely improved, my muscle mass has come back easily with working out and I’m at a healthy weight and look nice.

Libido: (Warning: I’m not afraid to get graphic)
My libido as I stated from the get-go is still in question. When I have sex with my girlfriend just making out doesn’t get me erect, I need that physical contact and then it responds well. I can keep it up during sex, but if I take it out then it will start to go flacid after just about 30 seconds. Is this normal for me? I don’t know because I started Fin 10 years ago and when I was 21 I was wanting to have sex all the time and got boners if I walked by a pond or road over a speed bump.

Right now I only want to have sex about once every three days, I’ve asked several of my friends who are the same age what their libido is like, and some say they want sex every day with their gf, other say about every three days. So maybe it is normal and maybe it’s not, in any case I continually look for ways to improve my libido.

One thing I’ve noticed that has started just over the past three to four months is really strong nocturnal erections. I used to never have erections at night or in the morning when I had to piss, now I wake up and have them in the middle of the night and in the morning and sometimes all night. This may have something to do with some of the new things I’m testing with now, when I can pin it down for sure I’ll make a post along with several other things I’ve found have helped my libido and erections.

Im preparing to begin a 10-12 day water fast this week.
In preparation, I have for the past few days been doing intermittent fasting: I’ve been having only 1 meal a day, and having nothing but water the rest of the day. For today and tomorrow I am going to continue this, only I am going to make the meals a little smaller, and mostly consist of fruits and vegetables.
Wednesday will be the start of the water fast, and I hope I can make it until at least next Sunday.
I am anticipating that I will be very tired and weak at points during this, so I have stocked up on reading materials and tv series to keep me occupied if I find my self unmotivated to go out. When I end my fast I plan on slowly coming out- maybe just glasses of juice the first day out, then some fruit the second day out, and so on.

Does this sound like a good approach? Is there anything else I should do? Also most importantly, I am a student. I only have class maybe 2.5 hours a day. Do you think I will be so weak that I would be unable to attend class during this?

After the first four days I started feeling way better, I was surprised at my energy and my focus actually improved. Don’t exercise while you’re fasting, just relax and take it easy and enjoy it. It’s a good experience most people don’t get to see and it’s pretty amazing how your other senses (smell, sight especially) get enhanced.

I did a 10 day water fast (ended 9 days ago) and feel sharper in mind with much less anxiety. So far I would recommend it, hope my improvements stay.

@BrongFogBoy did you do another fast after your first one?

Welp that didnt last too long. I unfortunately had to end my fast, due to getting a last minute promising job interview. Even after getting the call about the interview I planned on continuing the fast, but when I realized I was so weak that I could barely put my suit jacket on, I knew I couldnt possibly conduct myself professionally in the weak/nauseous state I was in.

I really wish I could try a fast, it sounds like everyone who’s done one has had some positive results. I guess I’ll have to try my luck with intermittent fasting for now. Anyone hear positive results from this?

One more positive effect: I was finally able to drop zinc, which I needed to counter my anxiety. I tried to drop zinc several times before but every time anxiety was getting so severe that I had to take it again. I’m very positive about this.

Update:
making really good improvements since the fast and after I added fish oil / dropped zinc. Heavy workouts are now finally possible for me without affecting my sleep much, that’s a huge relief. Sleep in general has become better too in the last week. I’m still very positive about this whole fasting thing !

There’s a very good documentary on fasting I wanna to mention. The only problem is that I could only find it in French and German.

I saw it a couple of months ago. Interesting things for those who can’t understand either languages. You might want to move a bit while fasting. Nothing too intense, but mild exercise is suppose to be good for toxins elimination. Something mentionned that is worth knowing is that one fast might not be enough, sometimes you need to do two fasts to be healed. Also, very striking results of a study done with mouses. They administered a lethal dose of a chemotherapy drug on a group of mouses that was fasting and on another that wasn’t. The group that was eating died while the fasted one survived.

Tons of experimentation has been done on Fasting by some great md in the past.
In one case it was with a type of worm, the normal eating worms had a normal short life span, those being deprived from food lived up to 15 times longer in the experiment.

Also one guy decided to give flour worms a plate of refined flour(white), and on another plate only the worms with no flour, turns out the worms that did not eat survived longer than those eating the refined shit.
Every great person from the past knew the importance of Fasting, its mentioned in the bible plenty of times.
Its not that much what you eat, but maybe what you dont eat. Fasting is regeneration.

Fasting was the best thing I did so far, things are still getting better and better. Seems like my body is now able to heal itself.

My opinion: everyone out there with PFS who doesn’t try fasting is either dumb or is not suffering enough…

agreed, I went on a fast nearly 8 months ago and I still feel the benefits from it. I would go on another fast in a heartbeat if I had enough time to do so.

I started my water fasting yesterday, I do not know how long I can last but I hope at least 30 days (or more), I will keep you updated at this time

10 days completed, I could not follow more as needed to travel to work

I noticed the: candida improved symptoms, skin oil decreased, also had other improvements but nothing significant, today start 80/10/10 diet

You will notice the improvements in the weeks and months after the fast, believe me.

take it slow, don’t rush back into the foods your used to. high water content fruits & veggies, raw and organic is good if you can.
really glad you stuck it out for a little while, mirai_trunks

Hey everyone I wanted to give another update to my health. I have come to the conclusion at this point that I am having libido issues and think it has to be from the finasteride side effects since I’m a healthy 34 year old.

I’ve thought long and hard about this before coming to a final conclusion (i’ve always stated that I was unsure if I had sexual side effects) and at this point I’m pretty much positive I am. I just don’t desire sex. The idea of it sounds good but it’s almost like what is really going on is that, “the idea of being horny and having sex with a hot big breasted girl sounds good”, but I’m not horny and so I don’t want it. Even when I type that out I think “mmmm, that sounds good” but if she was here right now I’d be just “kind of” excited about it, almost apathetic (although I would do it).

It’s just a decreased desire to have sex, simple as that. I do not have any problem getting an erection and I do get in the mood when I’m actively engaged and making out with a girl but outside of that box I’m just indifferent. I’m pretty much having to force myself to have sex with my girlfriend…once things get started then I’m into it and I’m glad I’m there, but before that I honestly could care less.

So although I definitely received some benefits from my “two week nothing but water fast” I can’t really say it did much for libido. Overall I still feel great though, I can think well and have good energy and am in a positive mood (these were not the case before the fast) so I’d say I’m still pretty lucky, I guess I just choose to look at it like that.
