Just wondering does anyone know if they will ever bring out a new version of finasteride which does not carry the same side effects ? Hopefully finasteride does get banned and they are forced to bring out a much safer drug.
When the female contraceptive pill first came out it was a lot more dangerous than it is today but it is now relatively safe, maybe the same will happen with finasteride.

Safe and finasteride are oxymorons. But who could care? Agree with the other posters, if your mind is considering such things you don’t suffer from the same problems as the rest of us here.
Yup, kinda reminds me of the guys who come on here who are still on finasteride asking us if they should come off. Or the guys who come here debating with themselves if they should sacrifice their libido’s for their beloved hairline.
First off all the lost libido is the very least of the side effects many of us are experiencing. When the others hit, thinking about your hairline is something that is miles away in your chain of thought. When you haven’t slept for more then 3 hours at a time in 4 months, when your muscles twitch uncontrollably, when you feel like death day in day out for months on end, and of course when your genetials visually begin to deform before your very eyes… thoughts of your hairline become long forgotten.

Also, the non existent libido is not even close to the worst side effect, for me at least. The severe insomnia, depression (which is very real), the pain through out the body, and most importantly and in my mind the scariest … the mental sides. The inability to feel true emotion or connect with people.This cloud that always covers things up. Whatever has caused this particular side I find very, very frightening. I do not mean to sound like a downer, but this is scary and in short seems like I have suffered pretty severe nuerological damage.

Thats an interesting question, it seems it would have to be something that is not a 5 alpha reductase inhibitor.
The main problem is that it would have to selectively target 5ar and androgen activity in the scalp, which might be impossible from ingesting a pill.
So much in the human body is linked, so any medication will have risks.

There are a lot of women who disagree with this idea that birth control pills are safe. There are a number of lawsuits against Yaz, Yasmine, and other oral contraceptives for example. Do some research before posting.
Even if they came out with a new “safer” drug. Would you go take it after what happened? Propecia was supposedly very safe.
If they would bring out a “saver” (but risky) drug which potentially bring me my libido back I would take it. Are you really talking about hairs, really??
