Will starting Propecia again help?

Hi!

Sexual side-effects was not a huge problem for me when I was on finasteride for 7 years, but then when I cut down the dose and eventually stopped, the sexual sides became immense. Zero libido and a pathetic erection. This does not seem to reverse. So I’m wondering if going back on the drug will actually make things better again?

The reasoning behind this question is that the body may have gotten used to higher Testosterone levels during those years on finasteride. Now after quitting, the Testosterone levels drop, and the androgen receptors do not respond. Going back on the drug will again up the Testosterone, and maybe things will get back to normal?

Did anyone here try going back on Propecia? I know it sounds stupid but it’s a genuine question.

No but look at it as there are no guarantees. I wouldn’t touch the stuff ever again if my life depended on it and pissing was horribly painful.

Even if you go back on and have good results at first you may crash again later on and be in worse shape.

Give it time, live healthy, and get to the gym.

Focus,

It’s ultimately your decision to make, but I can’t believe you even consider that as an option if you read the hundreds of stories of what has happened to the men on this site.
Propecia could initially give you a higher T level, but that often goes in the opposite direction over time. I had this very thing happen to me.

If hair is that important to you consider a hair transplant or some other method.

I’m not at all sure I will do it. Just wondered if anyone managed to lessen the sexual side effects by actually going back on the drug. My sexual sides have become much much worse after quitting :open_mouth:

my sides got worse initially but have fluxuated drastically since I started working out and eating healthier and overall are on an upturn.

all i can tell you is I wake up every morning hoping my hair will fall out like before so I know I’m getting back to normal. Before I took fin I thought losing my hair was the worst. Now I just want it to fall out again…

:open_mouth:

Focus,

I couldn’t find your story. Did you go and fill out a story describing your symptoms already? There is an area where new people fill out the details of how long they took the drug and what sides they are experiencing. I couldn’t find one for you. You should do that. Then the rest of us may be able to lend some of our knowledge to you about what we have done to deal with similar side effects.

The fact that your even considering it makes me thing you might need to do some more reading about what this drug can do to your health. How about heart disease, osteoporosis, neurological problems just to name a few.

I also felt a little worse the firs couple of weeks off of the drug. You need to give your body some time to recover. You took the pill for 7 years; it will take more than a few weeks to get back to a healthy state.

I also took the pill for a long period of time and my libido dropped down to nothing. Have you taken a look at the other symptoms some of us have experienced to see if you’re having those as well? There are many non-sexual sides, that you might not suspect P caused. Do your joints pop?, are your eyes sensitive to light and wind?

You said sexual side effects were not a huge problem for you. Be honest with yourself, would you really say your sense of sensation was the same, your erections and orgasms were as good on Propecia as they were before taking it?

Got my Testosterone results today  :

It took me a very long time to figure out what was wrong with me and I was in denial for a long time about my dysfunction, so I did a lot of dumb things to my body including going back on finasteride after quitting for over a year when I was in my 20s. Going back on just made everything worse for me, but your mileage may vary

I literally have 0 interest in saving my hair. But does anybody else wonder whether going back on finasteride may somehow help you?

It will not help, you only inhibit 5AR2 and all vital processes such as DHT and neurosteroid metabolism throughout the body again, depriving tissues of androgen, altering hormonal ratios, feminizing your body etc.

If you seriously think getting back on Finasteride is the solution to our problems, you’re out to lunch.

Jesus H Christ. I thought you were pushing it to the limit when you were talking about extasy and cocaine not being a problem for ED. Try taking finasteride again. We need someone to make this mistake and post on this thread how Megan Fox couldn’t give them a hard on so others will stop asking this ridiculous question.
