Hey guys i’m new on here so sorry if I have posted this in the wrong forum or am asking the same questions that have already been asked.

In December 2007 when I was 21 I started taking Proscar (Cutting one tablet into 4 pieces and taking one bit each day) allong with 1 Saw Palmetto pill for hair loss. It seemed to be working but up until last week I stopped taking it. since december 2007 and up untill now all i seen was my hair growing back but now im starting to notice side effects of the drug. Most of my side effects are sexual related ones. Lately i have been feeling pain in my penis when it is erect and have noticed that my penis seems smaller when not erect, im not sure if it seems smaller to me when its erect though. I have had slight pain in my testicals also and they too look like they are sort of smaller aswell. I have sort of just felt real weird lately like sort of feminine in a way… OMG yesterday I was watching one of my Harry Potter Blu-ray’s and there was a scene where someone is killed and its pretty sad and i felt like i wanted to cry!! omg i should be a man… lol the girls are meant to cry at scenes like that haha. I think my sex drive is still there because i still feel horney as usual and go out looking for girls and masturbate etc. I also just seem to be fatigued all the time too. now that I have stopped taking this drug will I go back to normal…? I have other drugs needed for my hair loss to like saw palmetto and a topical solution called minoxdil but i am unsure if i should keep taking these drugs too. has anyone been off this drug for quite a few months or years and noticed themselves go back to normal like as if they never started it in the first place…?

I did the same thing as you. Proscar in fourths even more some times prolly averaged 1.75mg a day. I was on it for a year. My first symptom of my increased feminity was exactly that about getting emotional at uncharacteristic times. Then it got worse months after I quit, my body began to take on the shape of a womans, butt, thighs and moobs.
Then I lost my libido completely and started to question my sexuality because I was feeling so feminine and women werent turning me on at all anymore. Very weird feeling like i was exuding feminity, I couldnt relate to my friends anymore, I quit playing sports eventhough Iplayed them my whole life. Haha I’m pretty much a woman now. Let me know if this happens to you

cheers for the replies. yeah ill have a read around to see what other people have put on here, i just sort of wanted to get my story on here soon as i could to get some feedback because as with all the rest of you its worrying me pretty badly… :frowning:

inlimbo1 - yeah man thats what i did, a little over 1mg a day because i was cutting a 5mg pill into 4. i have been off proscar for about 5 days now and already i feel better (i just hope i keep getting better each day). I didnt get that bad as you explained like the chages to your body. I just got the weird feminine feelings. i also noticed that my weight training was starting to have no effect on my body and it was as if i was wasting my time. but then again sometimes when i went away for work i would forget my proscar pills and not take them till i got home or when i ran out i had to wait till i got back to perth to get more but now im so thankfull that i did miss days without taking the shit… its bullshit how when i first got put on it i asked about the side effects and all they told me was that my libido “may decrease” but then they went on to tell me that it only happens to about 2% of men mainly over 40 and because i was only 21 i was like ok no worries! this poxy drug has caused me more harm then good and i think they need to pull it until they can make a drug without side effects as fucked as this…!

Hey mate have you gone and got a blood test done…? you can ask your doctor to get a blood test done to check your hormone levels and you may find that the finasteride has disrupted your bodies natrual testosterone levels and that maybe you will need to take testosterone suplements to equal things out until its back to normal. im sure if you put testosterone back into your body it should start to make your body look like a man and you will feel like one again. I’m going to get a blood test done because i want to check all my hormone levels now.
