WHAT HAPPENED TO MY NICE CLEAR SKIN???????

I am new to the forum this is my second post. A lot of ppl on here have the “usual” finasteride side effects but I haven’t read too much about skin issues. I have a few of the “usual” side effects myself but what I want to ask is has anyone had skin problems post Fin? I used to have very clear skin and could tan very easily. Now my skin is red and blotchy. I cannot maintain a tan like I used to and when I get hot my skin gets red. I am not one of those ppl who tan all day or anything like that but it would be nice if my skin did not look like shit.

I was on Fin for 4 months and I have been off for 8 weeks. Besides the skin problems my libido is completely non existent. Has anyone else had any of these skin problems? Any feedback is appreciated.

One more thing: Since I quit Fin my hair is shedding like crazy. While I was on Fin it was shedding around the hairline a little but now prob 25-30% of the density of my hair is gone. I am past the point of caring about my hair loss and just want to get back to normal or at least semi-normal. However it would be nice if this shedding would stop. Someone else on the forum said it could be a good thing I am shedding because the DHT is doing what it is supposed to do. Anyone know if this means anything or if its just my body trying to get back to normal.

Thanks

As for the skin problems: yes! I can’t tan to save my life anymore and it’s been like this since fin. And just like you said, my facial skin just gets red and irritated when I’m in the sun for longer periods. I was never very tan but I’d say I tanned like normal caucasian males do. Now I look ill 'cause I’m pale as fuck all summer.

There have been some reports of people getting rashes. I suspect it is because so many of us have adrenal issues.

No idea regarding the tanning tho i still tan fine.

Since Fin I get large blotches of dry skin on my forehead and side of nose, particularly in the summertime. A large area will form about the size of a half dollar or bigger. People asking if I got hit in the forehead all the time. I assume this is due to Fin since 5AR2 is expressed in skin tissue and it never happened before Fin crash.

although I did not use fin, I used Saw palmetto but have the same issues. My skin is also dead, numb non responsive to sun light. It just burns in the sun, that is it. I think our Skin is the main target of our problems. It is the reason why we are low on vitamin D. skin is not working , so no more Vitamin D.
I strongly suspect auto immune at play for skin problems. I have read some posts where fin users have got lupus and psoriasis in addition to blotches. My very close in-law has got psoriasis after fin, and medicine for psoriasis does not work for him.

Guys please go for auto immune disorder diagnostic tests. Very few on this forums have done auto immune tests. Talk to your doctors. Some times auto immune tests are non-conclusive making it harder to detect.

I hope the saw palmetto does not affect the skin I was thinking about trying it to curb the shedding. I feel like a chemo patient my hair falls out so much since quitting Fin. I am getting desperate so I was thinking about saw palmetto to help slow down the dht (I assume that is what is causing the shedding) But if it causes skin problems I will prob stay away. Not sure what to do about my skin. How long were you on saw palmetto?

I see you’ve been off Fin for awhile. Has your skin improved at all? Have you tried anything to help it get back to normal? And lastly do you remember how soon you noticed your skin looking shitty? I’m thinking about getting my hormones checked because I heard that hormonal imbalance can cause skin blothiness, redness, etc. Just have to wait and see I guess.

The inability to tan and very dry and dull flaky skin are the only symptoms I’d relate to finasteride. I have other skin issues too, seb. dermatitis but it was already present before fin.

I gotta take this back; I can still tan. This summer I’ve tried to stay outside without any cover for longer periods of time, and lo and behold, I’ve actually tanned a bit.
