What exact Hormones should a DR be looking at?

I went to an endo Dr who insisted only running a blood test for Total T and SHBG only. He claims he has a chart he uses to look at blood results for these two hormones and if they fall within a particular range he never considers even looking at Free T.

To me this sounds completely wrong since I have read that Free T is what drives sexual functions and overall sex drive.

This doctor actually went on to say he gives no weight or credibility to Free T whatsoever and believes it is completely unreliable. Since my Free T is below my range. 11.7 on (12-40) range and I have of a whole bunch of sexual sides. I think his method is seriously flawed.

Has anyone else heard of this method of testing or does anyone know if there is evidence that disproves this guy’s method? This is the 2nd doctor that has told me Free T is not an important indicator. I don’t agree with them.

The urologist I went to also just measured testo and prolactin and refused to do more testings. Dickhead… .

There are plenty of other tests that can be performed that might have implication s for sexual sides.
Estradiol
TSH
FT3 FT4
DHT I would also consider; maybe better 3-adiolG (?), though I am not so sure about this one… . High levels of 3-adiolG can also be derived from DHEA-S…so, don’t know.
Further: LH, FSH, cystatin C… .

However, I am not so sure if hormones are really the matter in our case.
All tests I had performed so far revealed normal hormone levels, however I have probably more to come.

I don’t have any side effects beside the sexual ones. I am fit, mentally sharp etc… . But sexually it is still difficult with some improvements in between.

I somehow think there is some neurological issue at least involved and I have no clue what to analyse in this regard.

However, you might want to consider to contact Dr. Crisler who is ordering more tests for me as well.

finsucks,

I also had many of the items you listed checked as well. What I am referring to is this notion in the medical community that Free Testosterone is not an important indicator. Based on what I have learned from reading dozens of medical articles and this website, I couldn’t disagree more.

Click on my profile link at the bottom of this message. Look for some of the posts I made on Pituitary Gland problems. There is no question the problems caused from this drug are neurological in nature. They are mentally neurological in some cases and sexually neurological in most cases as well. If you never had neurological problems, lucky for you. Most guys get them eventually if they stay on the crap.
