Weight Loss

I have recently lost 10 pounds in the last 6 weeks. I only weighed 160. Now 150. Only a little of it was fat. I have not been on a diet or really kept up with exercise. I am a little worried. I made an appointment with my MD for 4/25. I think it is due to depression though I thought I was handling that pretty well. I guess it all comes out one way or another. However again I do not want to blame all my problems on fin. We’ll see the 25th.

Anyone else experience loss of appetite due to depression and then weight loss. Also on the 25th I will get T3,T4, and cortisol checked ( thanks legenden).

are u having any issues with your digestive system or bowel movements? weight loss can be caused by several things within ur digestive system. bacterail overgrowth in your intestines is an example.

if u are having bowel issues u may want to see a Gastro Dr (GI).

Agree with Rockin…and how are your liver enzymes?

You’re having the same problem I have had - loss of muscle, not fat. The scales are irrelevant here, you may even increase levels of fat. This is what happens when the testosteron/estrogen balance is out of sync and the estrogen is increasing.
I think other people on this forum are experinecing the same but do not realise it. You must distinguish between losing muscle and losing weight in general.
My blood tests show estrogen is at upper limits of norm but testosterone is at lower levels of norm so normal male ratio is upset. Cortisol was way over limits.

Thanks. Digestive system and bowels are fine. Liver enzymes were fine last blood test 2 months ago. I am worried about estrogen and did realize this could and probably is muscle loss. But the other possibility is depression resulting in loss of appetite. Started hitting the weights but am limited by a bad shoulder. Interestingly enough the bad shoulder is due to weak musculature around the shoulder joint. I’ve always been on the musculature side and never had problems with knees or shoulders even during my athletic days. My bad shoulder started 4 months after taking propecia (2 months after stopping propecia).

Do you actually gain anything from weight training ?
I trained for about 15 years on account of a back problem I have; but for the last 3/4 years I have been losing muscle even while training. There is no pump and no visible increase in size even when I move the weights. Afterwards there is no soreness. But the muscle fibres just seem to break down (as they should) from the strain but not repair themselves afterwards.

to.robin-- Just started working out again in about 1 year. Will let you know if I gain strength in the upcoming weeks.

I had a visit with my gp today to ask for a thyroid and acth test and also to discuss this sudden weight loss I have had(12 pounds in less than 2 months). He did the t3 and t4 but talked me out of the acth because according to him with adrenal fatigue I would have a hard time losing weight. I looked it up and he was right. Any comments or input if I should get the acth test.
