We need to make a documentary film

Does anyone on the forum work in the movie industry? We need to make a documentary movie about this condition. We can´t wait longer. It is not that expensive to make a low cost documentary.

We are having lots of victories and awareness is definetely increasing but it is not enough. It makes me sick to see many new members on this forum who started the drug in 2013. I know the law suits will cause major changes (hopefully), but these might take a long time, and it is painful to see things not changing and so many doctors still saying the same old stuff about this drug.

I think you are right man. This would push things forward a bit. I am one of the stupid people who did not do proper research before starting this poison. I remember googling finasteride side effects and all the results did not mention anything about permanent sides. If only i had typed propecia instead of finasteride more results would came up, and even this website and i would be saved. I am very angry with myself about this because i always research before trying new stuff but i was fooled in this one.

Don’t blame yourself, man. It is definetely not your fault. We are raised to trust doctors and to believe medications are beneficial and safe. It is beyond reason how such a dangerous drug can be on the market for so long. This is the reason we need to make more noise! In the movie, we could show how life was and how it is now for some guys after propecia. And we could put a list of initials and locations of other men who don’t appear on the movie but are victims as well. Why do people get shocked when we see a list of thousands of names of war victims and they seem not to care for prescription drugs side effects? Because they can’t relate to it. It seems too unreal. But if we show our experiences in a movie, people will understand. They will also understand PFS is much more than sexual side effects.

This film documentary is an excellent idea, but putting it into action would be difficult I guess.

I’d happily tell my story on film.

Rather than necessarily making it ourselves, I’m sure that there will be documentary film makers, possibly fresh from film school, looking for a subject matter such as this. Documentaries have taken off in quite a big way recently and are very effective in communicating globally individual stories and giving a platform for sometimes ignored voices. I think that the bigger story of big pharma and how they routinely put profit before their customers lives is of significance to everyone, and as people have said on here, it is them that are the enemy within, not the bogey man terrorists. I would actually advocate for all sufferers of big pharma to pull our resources and present a united front in lobbying for change in how big pharma is allowed to operate, but that is another campaign.

Bumping this thread up… Anyone here works in the film industry? Anyone knows someone who could help us on this? EVERYDAY, thousands of men are taking this medicine for the first time, we need to do something else! It is taking too long for this drug to have its use restricted. Soon enough this drug will be pushed to our nephews and sons. This is absurd! It can’t be that long to take a dangerous drug from the market.

I wonder if Vice would do it. Their niche is the not covered extreme and there’s no doubt we qualify.

I actually have a filmmaker friend who wants to do exactly this. I keep telling him no, that I’m not ready to talk about it. hmm…

Bump for this. How would we get them involved? I was considering seeing if someone like 60mins would do it because it has now been recognised as a rare genetic disease and they tend to follow things through from this stage such as the research stage all the way through to the end.

But vice does definitely seem like a viable option!

Or crowdfund it…Indigogo, etc.

This is an excellent idea. It is a great topic for a documentary maker to cover. There are other medications that are very harmful also so the documentary could even address abuses within the FDA and pharmaceutical industry.

This is the way to do it. I have personally helped crowdfund many indie documentaries. I think people would get behind this.

The most important step is finding a director/film maker with experience.

I emailed Michael Moore a few months back to do just this. No response.

I’m surprised at the general lack of media interest towards PFS.

You would think that a “safe” medication used for cosmetic purposes that is causing countless men to commit suicide and is wiping out their sexuality would be big news. Yet very few people in the media seem to care.

I contacted hundreds of people who work in the media on twitter but none of them wanted to do a story on PFS.

Yeah it pisses me off that mentality, like the blame should be solely placed on us? Like someone mentioned previously we were raised to trust the medication profession not be deceived

I was thinking that if the foundation was to spend all its money making a well produced feature length documentary it could have a bigger impact than the PFS studies have made so far.

Such a documentary could appeal to a wide audience.

Just imagine the premise that someone gets a “safe” pill from their Doctor and then has their sexuality wipped out forever and whats worse most Doctors don’t even believe its possible.

This would make a very interesting documentary.

If the foundation was to set up a separate fund for a PFS documentary I would be more than happy to donate to it.

So send them a mail with your Idea and inform us about their answer.
Great idea considering our medial world!

There is a lot going on with PFS from the suicides, impotence, muscle loss or shrinking tackle there is a story in there that would interest the public. However, watching something that focuses on the grim is perhaps not marketable. Shrinking tackle, impotence and images of men shedding lots of muscle and becoming pencil thin from propecia would interest people. The youtube comments that stick out the most are those of men saying they wouldn’t touch propecia if it meant they couldn’t get an erection. I’m sure there’s a story in the severe sexual side effects. The potential audience is huge. There is nothing stopping someone from writing a book about PFS and getting it published in a downloaded PDF format. A researched book would basically hand a film maker a lot of information and make the step of turning PFS into a documentary that much easier. A short book on PFS is more believable than stories on an internet forum or youtube, it would give the condition more credibility.

If I didn’t have PFS I would have done it :sunglasses:
