We Must Contact Merck

Many of our members have spent a great deal of time finding various studies on the side-effects of Propecia and we are all spending countless hours trying to find a solution to our problems. But the problem is that we are all laypersons, not doctors/scientists.

I think we have to take a more straightforward approach: we need to contact Merck and if possible, the people involved with Propecia. Merck is the cause of our problems but it is our best chance at a solution as well.

Who is interested at making a concerted effort to get through to the people at Merck?

Merck headquarters is located in New Jersey.

I agree with this idea. I’m surprised no one has responded to this proposal.
What if we gather some of the research documents we have here, collect a group of people with side effects and march on Merck headquarters and demand to speak to the CEO. The least of our demands can be just to change the warning labels, the most could be for Merck doing research in order to find the cause and eventually treatment for what their drug caused to us.

It will be even better if we contact news channels in advance, and let them know our story. I think the news will jump all over this. Has anyone tried this? Contacting media? Local news channels? Bloggers? etc

Dude, this is a GREAT idea! It is well said, and sounds like a good way to publicize this, and maybe even shake things up a bit.

I think the only problem you will have is getting members from this site who are not too embarrassed to be putting themselves out in public like that admitting they have lost the use of their penis.
But if you can get numbers… I mean hell! All it takes is a two day trip for some guys… a little rally call… Everyone take a Monday off from work and do it. Fly to NY and make a trip out of it!

Well there is a member that contacted Merck via his Doctor (clicky), and they essentially said there was nothing they could do if I remember correctly. Like we stress always though - guys who get these sides need to submit an adverse effects report to the FDA. Communicating with Merck reps on a personal basis is something we should do too. I’m not familiar with the protocol for that but look into it. For now I see we know of an adverse effects hotline for Merck but there is probably a much better way of getting in touch with that bunch.

I agree. It is time for something to be done . This must be put to an end before more lives are ruined. I really can’t believe that no doctor/lawyer has come forward to address these complaints. But then again, the issue is so complex that I guess I’m not surprised this is still going on…

I looked online and submitted this site and information about people suffering to various magazines and TV shows. Everyone needs to make some effort to gain attention for this issue.

Do you guys think it is better if we write one draft that can be copied by different members and sent to various news outlets to make it easier for various members to contribute or shall each one of us write our own letter.
