Vestibular Disorder

Has anyone else here been diagnosed with a vestibular disorder? I stopped taking FIN this past October after about 18 months on the medication. My primary symptoms which started 8 months into use fall under the mental / cognitive category.

I recently saw an ENT and was diagnosed with a vestibular condition as they identified Nystagmus (jumping of eyes after certain movements). I’m not saying there’s a correlation with FIN but the symptoms which I exhibit are very similar to some of those listed on the site (brain fog, poor concentration, slurred speech, memory loss, etc).

Here’s a link with a listing of the symptoms, note the cognitive / psychological:

I took FIN for 6-9 months. I then stopped for 4-6 months. I was then diagnosed “Vestibular Neuritis”, due to the strong Nystagmus. I have been having vertigo for 6 months now, feeling brain fog, and poor concentration
Please, give me feedback about how did it go for you… have you recovered?

I had been taking Fin for 3.5 years until i got in the shower one morning and felt off balance completely out of the blue. I worried that it might be Fin so as I wasn’t that bothered about taking it decided to stop. Well the next 2 months were a nightmare. I had such an extreme reaction that I was urgently referred by my GP to the Neurology team with suspected MS. I had a blown pupil, couldn’t walk properly, my balance was terrible and it felt like I was moving all the time even when sat/standing still. I couldn’t walk more than a few hundred yards with getting cerebral clamping and was essentially disabled.

After the MRI and EEG from Neurology came back clear they sent me to ENT who diagnosed an acute labyrinth dysfunction. However I have other nerve damage such as hands go numb if compressed or left in the same position far quicker than they should do. Feet (especially left) vibrates internally as if nerve is not passive. Did get strong electrical sensations in feet which have subsided now.

I have been doing Cawthorne Cooksey physio and am about to start VRT in order to achieve the best possible outcome.

Yes this is a result of fin. I have the nystagmus and dizzyness as well. Many others as well, trouble focusing, balance issues, memory problems etc

I just saw an ENT doc for this today. She doesn’t believe Finasteride could cause my side effects. Hmmm, I guess it’s just a crazy coincidence that I got all these sides while taking Fin. Oh, and also a coincidence that a website exists with thousands of men complaining about the same stuff.
