Very low Vitamin D??? My results

To answer your question directly the body consumes roughly 500 iu per day of vitamin D.

It seems like this happens to many of us (low D). Mine was 17 to 25 in the year before supplementation. Taking 5000 iu three or four a week plus summer sun got me to low 40s but it quickly slipped back to low 30s.

I had an endo tel me that he puts some patients on 50,000 iu/week. At 20,000 iu/week divideed doses I do not sleep well.

Read a little more on the Marshall stuff it it quite controversial.

Did you notice any difference at all when your vitamin levels were raised? Did you feel any better?
I think the vitamin D deficiency may be a symptom of a different problem. I’m not sure what causes these depressed levels though.

Even I have low vitamin D and have been taking 6000 Iu each day in form of liquid drops. The blood tests show that my testosterone has climbed up slightly - a co-relation between the two?
Anyways, my Vit D climbed from 8 to 33 and then dropped back to 21. any reasons why this could be?

Vitamin D is metabolized in the liver. Something in the liver is countering this metabolism along with DHT metab and promoting Estrogem metabolism. I’ve got very low vit D levels despite taking supps.

I’ve had some stomach bugs that have gotten into the liver a couple times. Both times I’ve had a 100% recovery after my immune system defeated the bugs. Recovery only lasted about a week however :frowning:

maybe adrenal fatigue? Heal adrenals first and then our bodies can metabolize vitamins easier? I dont know…Just a theory…

I think more along the lines of the way you think about this. My vit D was very low and of course so was my free T. The shitty ass endo dr I had at the time didn’t even tell me my T was low, he simply said your Vit D is low, get more sunlight and drink more milk.

I do not believe that the diet is causing the lack of vit D in our situations. Clearly many of us are eating Vit D rich foods and still have low D. The low D is a side effect. If we can improve our hormones the Vit D will come back to the healthy level on it’s own. Certainly no easy feat, as we all know. I am focusing my energy on improving the hormones. The Vit D will follow.

People should get their 1,25 Vitamin D (the active metabolite) tested, mine was elevated and my 25 OH Vit D (common, storage type) reacts just like all of yours does (i.e. massive doeses needed to raise Vitamin D 25 OH).

The Vitamin D receptor gene (VDR) resides in the same family as 5AR2 and androgen receptor.

The elevated 1,25 indicates your body s too rapidly converting D to the active form, thus depressing the commonly checked storage level.

joe recent studies have shown, ill go search 4 the link if you ask that the vitd cannot be absorbed as easy as we all think. Its not a matter of just " going outside and soaking up some rays"

the uvb is the wavelength that causes a chemical reaction in the oils on our skin. It is a small percentage of the sun ray and needs to be at a particlular altitute (only occurs in summer time here) and it needs to be at a certain time of day) and you need a body exposure of 80%+ and this will only give you your rdi…

furthermore supplements of 1000iu will not even tickle your reserves, i keep hearing that you require 50000

5000 IU a day of Vitamin D is what I’ve been taking. I’m going to have bloodwork done soon and I’ll have a good idea of what the levels are. So far it hasn’t made me feel any better…

Seeing as being out in full sun for only 20 minutes generates anywhere from 10,000 to 30,000 units in your body, I would imagine being out in the sun all day would create quite the burst in D production. I could see being able to supplement with way more than 5,000 and be safe.

Hi Kazman,
You have too many posts, sorry, I couldn’t retreive your 1,25 vit D results : could you say them again ? Have you tested them again since last time ?
Golf has posted a link about the Marshall protocol, www.mpkb.org, I don’t know the scientific value of this approach, just starting to read through it, but it fits with some things we have noticed here.
