Agreed…also think there are many studies underway because of the importance of finasteride. I know it fucked us up but good, but it is a very important drug for obvious reasons other than cosmetic. I posted recently a 2013 Tulane University study on persistent sexual side effects which I believe was independent of the Foundation. Supporting the Foundation is our best chance!
What he doesn’t understand is his own problem; he doesn’t need to make it our problem by posting dumb stuff about the only foundation dedicated to helping us. That’s why posts like his should be deleted immediately; his ignorance is his problem.
Your comment about “all we can do right now is wait and hope” is among the most ignorant comments on this board. I’m still amazed that in this homogeneous group of men, the damsel in distress-wait to be saved attitude is so prevalent.
One thing I think would be helpful would be a 2-3 monthly update regarding progress. One thing to maintain momentum that would be helpful would be accountability. Having someone to hold them accountable for actions or inaction will speed up progress the same way a deadline would for a project. i’ve conducted research before and know alot rests on that get up and go. Regular updates would also incentivise donations.
As there are a limited number of sufferers we need everyone to be on board and a level of trust needs to be reached between the researchers and patients to maximise overall results.
I agree, more regular updates or at least an explanation of what is going on will help generate interest in raising money. I know some naysayers often make poor attempts at trolling but they can just be ignored. I think it would be more helpful if an admin or mod actively encouraged new members to donate too, people who just arrive here do not know all the big ideas we have gone through over the years and why what is being researched needs to be so. We should be making sure every long term sufferer is donating and has a rough idea of why.
all they have to do is go to pfsfoundation.org and it will explain a great deal to them … in the event they have a truly important question worth the foundations time, then they should contact them through the site … pretty simple guys
if we are lucky i am sure another round of research will be coming soon so that we can get closer to finding a way to treat this syndrome … and i think we are all due for some good luck
I’d highly encourage those of you not donating because you are suspicious of those involved with the foundation to contact them and draw your own conclusions. Research those on the board and their motives. That certainly seems reasonable. As with any research the better funded it is the better chance we have for real progress. In that respect it’s an exciting time for us and we all have the opportunity to play an active role supporting research either financially, participating in the studies or both.
As was pointed out earlier, accounting for non-profits is transparent. I’m not privy to their expenses but I’m willing to guarantee everyone here there are no pleasure trips to Fiji. This is a foundation headed by medical professionals, not a Hamptons socialite.
Seems from Awor’s post he might have some news on this front soonish.
There seems to be brewing excitement at the presence of a smiling emoticon from Awor.
If you follow the evolution of this thread you’ll notice that recent posts are rather off topic, focusing more on the role of The Foundation. There are also unwarranted demands for regular updates.
Perhaps Awor’s forthcoming post will address these later posts.
Then please enlighten me, Second Amendment. Besides WAITing for an update, and HOPE-ing that it is a good update, what else do you plan on doing? I mean, besides donating of course. Is that what is “ignorant” about my comment?
I’ve done and continue to do work for the community. No further explanation is needed.
If you are the type to “wait and hope” doesn’t mean everyone else is. Just because we’ve made great progress recently doesn’t mean we should just “wait and hope.” How we got this far in the first place is because people took action and weren’t content to “wait and hope.”
Well, no argument from me then. I do appreciate the work that you have done that some of us might not know of. I hope in the future it all pays off and we are ALL able to get out of this nightmare.
It’s been almost a year since a research status up date, I sure am hoping that the research teams have found something that is very positive. Hopefully not to much longer.
