Are you still taking Finasteride or have you quit?

thanks i’m posting my story now.

i’ve been off it for 5 months now.

what seems odd to me is dht is pretty low. is this normal for someone with mpb?

bump

does it look okay?

Total T seems somewhat lowish/midrange, yet % Free T is out of range high… not sure what to make of that.

Your DHT is almost near the bottom of the range, however. What did your endo say?

As far as the blood work he told me it all looked normal.

Other than that he basically told me to wait another month or 2. He said it wasn’t a big deal and that different peoples systems take different amount of time for the drug to leave them. But he said definitely in 2 months it should be out.

Does fin boost your free test while your on it?

I just got off the phone with an endocrinologist I was trying to make an appointment with and now am a bit confused and upset. I had my doctor fax him my blood work. As soon as he got it I got a call where he basically told me that my blood work is perfect for any 24 year old. That no one in there 20’s should ever be prescribed fin and he wanted to know the doctor that proscribed it to me. Then he told me fin does not cause sexual sides and it was all in my mind. After all this he refused to ever see me and said I needed to get it out of my head that fin had caused these sides and I would be okay.

I asked him repeatedly why someone in their 20’s should take it. And he never answered.

Is my blood work 100% okay ? I got the impression 402 is very low test level for someone in there 20’s.

Has anyone gotten this type of response from a doctor before ?

I’m really starting to freak out now = (

Is he not aware that Finasteride is routinely peddled by dermatologists and doctors as a hair loss treatment for young men, in the form of Propecia and other generics?

As for Finasteride not causing sexual side effects… ED, loss of libido and decreased ejaculate volume are listed by FDA/Merck right on the prescribing info. Not to mention persistent ED after discontinuation has been listed as a reported outcome by both the Swedish Medical Products Agency and UK’s MHRA.

Either he is unaware of these facts, or has other motives. Ignorant doctors do not help the situation, so either find another doctor, or go see Shippen, Crisler, Goldstein or Jacobs.

Thanks so much for your comments mew, as I’m not too informed on all this stuff.

I just got in the mail today my first testosterone report I did when I first started having side effects this was 2 month into side effects and I told my gp about them and he had me do a blood test. It only consists of testosterone total and prolactin.

PROLACTIN 7.9 2.0-18.0 NG/ML

TESTOSTERONE 537 241-827 NG/DL

Now booth these are higher than when I got off fin. The only thing is it seems the reference rang on the total T is different. This was conducted by the same lab that did the previous posted one. Because the ranges are different does that mean the numbers aren’t comparable?

Thanks again guys
