Uk guy here needs info please

Hi their I’m new here but I’m far from new to some of the long term side effects i have had for years now …
Isn’t it strange how we live with these things without telling anyone but your GP not that really helps . I even got to the point of covering the sexual problems up with Viagra for 4 years whilst using finasteride and carried on using it for the past ten years since stopping finasteride due to things getting worse and worse and the major pain / ache in my testicles got so bad I could hardly bare it some days. Add all the other side effects i.e insomnia , depression, anxiety , total lack of sex drive , sexual dysfunctions, lack of feeling in penis and no wonder you have to give up and say stuff my hair sanity is more important.

Has anyone in the uk been to see a doctor ?

I’m hoping for some answers to all of this so I’m going back to doctors again next week as the last time i went was 8 year ago and arranged a blood test but nurse didn’t turn up on the day and so it didn’t happen I should of pushed further at the time but I’ve never had much luck with doctors it took over 20 years to get diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis i went through some immense pain for years taking alot of Nsaids along the way.
Now after reading up on pfs I’ve seen that taking Nsaids can make you more supsettable “Great” .

Surely theirs a doctor in the UK that knows something about finasteride and the persistent side effects after stopping the use of finasteride?

I really need some answers on this as its been with me for soo long now .

I should of listened to my body from the start its so stupid to ignore all these symptoms when we use finasteride but its also so easy to carry on as everyone in the forums say it will stop once your body gets use to it but it never does but we listen to stupid things like have hair and just use viagra to compensate lol how stupid have i been it’s just total madness really and now I’ve found myself still in this mess years later nothing changes back to how it use to be the only thing that changed for me is the testicular pain stopped after stopping use of finasteride

I just want some answers to all of this please

Definitely get to the doctor and get some tests done. Someone on here posted that taking some studies/articles with you to explain the symptoms would be helpful in the event that your doctor doesn’t know about PFS.

Dont go alone. Bring someone who knows you have pfs and some studies just in case. Mention the different labels M. had to change over the years. The main question is what you expect from a doc AS he is a slave. In my opinion waste of time. I would focus on some protocols and do some research online.

Is there a big guide to protocols that we have?

Do you know which ones are the ones people think are most helpful?

Can you have sex now after 10 year post fin?

Yes could have thought the whole time but only by using viagra 100mg and even then your no porn star it has a short lasting effect i get around a 2 hour window but after that I’m just left with the side effects of viagra blocked nose redish face . The worst times were whilst I was still taking finasteride as it was painful in those days.
Masterbation is a total no go as it would be extreme to take viagra then put up with those side effects all for a play lol besides its not i ever even feel the urge to bother with that as i have a very low sex drive anyway. Se is part of a relationship so is required as to be fare to your partner.
I use to chase my misses around for it when i was in my 20s but since finasteride its much more of a regimented thing as i have the kind of plan ahead.
Morning errections don’t exist these days no such thing as spontaneous that’s all gone out of the window years ago.

Not really had any answers to anything as of yet as to why all this happened to me and from what i have read on this site upto now its looks like everyone is banging their heads against a brick wall really.

Taking finasteride was a huge mistake to say the least I just hope other people don’t fall into it’s trap.

I wonder how many guys are out their keeping quiet about everything same mistake i made again.

Thanks for advice noprop
I do plan take some paperwork with me but i you said most likely a total waste of effort these doctors don’t seem to want to dig into things i mean i mentioned that I’ve been sexually dysfunctional for years without viagra to two of them and it’s like water off a ducks back it just rolls straight over their heads not even questions asked or a reply they just nod and carry on saying what they want .
To me doctors generally want it straight forward and print off a prescription and say goodbye you poxy few mins are up off you go.

Hi there Baz and welcome to the forum, although I appreciate that it is a place that none of us wanted to ever find ourselves.

I agree with others regarding bringing along studies etc. Also, in my view, despite the variability of doctors across the board, and irrespective of their reaction to individual cases, as long as we continue to get out there and tell them matter of factly what has happened to us, the drip drip drip effect of more and more doctors seeing patients with similar stories can only be of benefit to us all. I do believe that there will be a time when what has happened to us will be much more readily known by the medical establishment and will form a part of all medical student’s learning. It’s just unfortunate that for any fight there are always those caught up early on that have to bang their heads a bit. Things are slowly changing in our favour.

Good luck, and try not to beat yourself up. It’s wasted energy as it is not your fault. Joining this forum is a great first step.

Thankyou for the reply very motivating

Have you seen this before

Im sure that you would have its very brave of Paul to come out in the open about these side effects but does seem to have been to little avail in the medical world I can’t help but think that their is alot more of us out their but being such a hard to talk about subject along with the fact its a complete shock horror to the mind these guys are staying quiet like many of us have done for years.
I have noticed that whenever a drug does create unwanted side effects their is always a huge amount of defense from the medical world but in Paul’s case it was a uk doctor that prescribed him the drug so he has a good firm ground to stand on , I wonder how many more guys are out their like myself purchased my first couple of boxes directly through ebay of all places so i self medicated not a bright idea really but i didn’t know that this would be the outcome i did my research based on what the medical world had stated and at the time their was no mention of sexual dysfunction.
This drug has ruined my life along with many others it has taken away something that is natural and a very intimate part of a relationship.
I wish that the makers Could understand what its like to lose a fundamental part of life and be left having to try to get the heads up in advance on when the misses fancies a bit in the bedroom as to not let her down . It’s a juggling act that doesn’t all ways work out and having to come up with excuses when the misses is having a play and things don’t want to stand up to attention is another fact of life as for masterbation what’s the point in trying we already know it’s NOT going to happen without your magic tablet your not really a man.
I hate what this drug has done to me and how it has effected my life.
Im not looking for compensation just answers

Keep up the fight it will all come in time

Hi. i am in the uk, currently in the uk. i went and seen professor Bouloux. he is an endocrinlogist in the london clinic. this was about 9 years ago, whenever my symptoms first started and all my results came back normal. he put me on trt but it didnt work.

i was thinking of trying medical cannibis whenever perscriptions start in the auttumn bit even the doctor i have been speaking too is still reluctant to do it

TRT often doesnt work cause the AR are upregulated and not working. You piss testo out when taking.

Instead prog would make sense. It decreases dht and receptors could partially reopen or desentisize.
They do it especially when you have low androgen levels and you regain normal levels - not supraphysiological levels as intended by your doc. Good luck!

You can try sulphoraphan and baking soda (half of a teaspoon) re sensitivity of the AR. Best
