Tweet Your PFS Stories

For those who haven’t seen it, I’m posting a recent email from Philip Roberts at the PFS Foundation. The tl/dr version of the message is that he’s making everyone aware of a recently created Twitter account that aims to raise awareness about the dangers of Propecia by collecting in a single place the many stories of PFS sufferers. If deciding to post your story, you should be sure to include @MeTooPropecia or #MeTooPropecia in your tweet. This seems like a great awareness initiative, and I hope everyone will take a moment (because it only takes a moment) to participate.

Dear Friends:

Michael, a 34-year-old PFS patient from Connecticut, has launched an #MeTooPropecia Twitter account to gather stories of PFS patients around the globe, similar to the #MeToo movement aimed at, as Wikipedia puts it, demonstrating “the widespread prevalence of sexual assault and harassment.”

Below is Michael’s request for participation from fellow PFS patients and their family members.

Some of you may recognize Michael from his participation in the documentary Pills in Search of an Illness, which debuted April 19, 2016 on the Spanish public-television network TV3, based in Barcelona.

Feel free to contact him directly if you have any questions:

Hello,

Recently, inspired by the #MeToo movement, I set up a Twitter profile called @MeTooPropecia (twitter.com/metoopropecia). As you might expect given the handle, I’m hoping the profile will serve as a place where guys with PFS (as well as their families) can share their experiences with Propecia. As far as I know, there’s no central gathering spot on Twitter for PFS sufferers, and I’m hoping that by posting the numerous stories in one place, we’ll collectively be able to raise awareness about the dangers of the drug.

I’ve already published my personal experience on @MeTooPropecia, and I plan on approaching others guys to share theirs. If you happen to know of anyone else who might be willing to share, please feel free to direct them to @MeTooPropecia. I’m also happy to answer any questions you or anyone else might have – simply email me or find me on Twitter.

Thanks for your help. And thanks for all the work the foundation has done over the years.

Best,
Michael

Also, in a subsequent email from Philip, it was noted that, if someone does not have a Twitter account or is at all uncomfortable sharing from an account they do have, it’s exceedingly easy to set up an anonymous Twitter profile. Doing so literally only takes a minute, if that, after which you can easily tweet your PFS experience – which also only takes a minute.
