Trying my best to recover - Need help with diet please

I’ve decided to get serious about healing myself and tomorrow I’ll be 7 days in to a water fast of undetermined length. I’d like to go as long as two weeks but I have commitments so we’ll see. I plan to reintroduce foods soon and will simultaneously replace my gut bacteria with healthy bacteria, provided by VSL #3 and Ecobalance.

As I continue to increase my calorie intake I will then add the supplements/products below, which I’ve gleaned from the recovery protocols of members on these forums:

Vitamin D
Omega 3 from algae EPA and DHA
Vitamin B6
ZMA
Digestive Aid by Viridian
Vitex
Ginseng
Acetyl l-Carnitine
Pau D’Arco tea

All of this obviously cost a small fortune but I’m sick of this and I think after a fast is a perfect time to provide the body with support.

After this, I plan to start at gym and do some compound exercises. I will introduce a good quality whey and creatine product and also good quality natural test boosters which I’ve also bought, Tongkat Ali and Tribulus.

My biggest difficulty however is my diet. I read Chi’s protocol and he ate meat and fish. Aside from that his diet was heavily restricted, no fruit, no legumes, no egg whites, no carbs. He wouldn’t even eat almonds unless they were blanched. I’m left scratching my head at exactly what I’m left with. Part of me thinks that as long as I try my very best in this department I should be ok, but any pointers around diet would be really appreciated. I’ve read that spinach up regulates 5AR, and I’ve heard a few people have recovered with large quantities of raw spinach a day. I might make that a component too.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to your reply and support at this really testing time!

No vegetables and no egg whites, really? I think he was eating vegetable soup and when I asked him about eggs, he didn’t mention anything about egg whites. I think it’s difficult to take the gut approach without doing the comprehensive test because it’s more a tailored approach. What you would hear normally would be more to avoid fruits.

I kind of like the fact that you went on a water fast. I think people without mental sides have it very easy to pose as critical minds. You need to suffer quite a bit to do a long water fast. I would even consider water fasting as a criterion for respect.

He ate vegetables just not roots with heavy carbs like potatoes. More your green and leafy veggies.

Do you know why we have to avoid fruit? Watermelon is ideal for coming off a fast so I would like to buy one but I’m confused.

81 views, 1 reply. Come on guys.

I meant for the gut issues because it feeds pathogens. To break the fast, watermelon should be OK.

Fruit feeds pathogens? Can you tell me more. I think a lot of PFS guys steer towards fruit as a good food choice, so it’s a bit counter intuitive.

Still hoping for input from anyone else here who who can help. Lots of views, there must be someone with something useful to say?

Candida, parasites and bad bacteria feed on sugar. If I remember well, Chi was suggesting eating fruits with less sugar, for instance berries.

If you look over CHI’s posts he had a pretty good list. I think blueberries were on his short list.

Guys, I’m doing amazing. It’s a paleo diet. Tons of vegetables, grass feed meats, lean meats, nuts (no peanuts), no sugar no complex carbs, lots of fish, eggs, etc. Ok with fruit, very low on the glycemic scale like berries (blue, ras, straw) maybe an apple here and there.

Good luck! Lots of evidence now pointing to a metabolic disorder so it makes a lot of sense

Cheers I’ll bear your thoughts in mind.

I’ve got great feedback from some of my contacts off the forum. Not sure I’ll update here again as clearly it’s not worth it.

I do appreciate the help from living dead and Finatruth. I’ll pm you guys if need be.

Cutting down the fruits to zero doesn’t seem wise to me as citrus fruits, grapes, avocado, pomegranate etc all have positive effect on testosterone levels and also possess anti-estrogenic benefits. These might be useful if you’re having problems with your hormonal profile, of course.

I’m pretty sure that %90 of you have discovered this site ages ago by the way but it seems to be a pretty cool fountain of information about nourishment.

My experiences with changes in diet:

I’ve been gluten free for over 2 years, dairy free for about 9 months. I’m very glad I did this and encourage everyone to do the same. Really helped with my digestive issues and some mental side effects.

I’ve been going on and off with the paleo diet for the past 6 months. Also avoiding fruit completely because of the sugar (only exceptions being avocados and lemons). My reaction to this has been mixed. Going paleo has certainly made me a much healthier person, but I don’t think its doing anything to help my PFS. Im going to continue eating paleo mainly because I’d like to keep my body in the healthiest condition it can be, but I’m no longer gonna kill myself trying to keep all of my meals completely paleo.
