Treatments if Mew's theory is correct

Let’s say that Mew’s theory that PFS is rooted in a problem of silenced androgen receptors.

Does anyone here have knowledge of possible mechanisms for treating such a problem? The idea that androgen receptors don’t work anymore due to genetic changes sounds relatively permanent to me. But I don’t know anything about medicine.

Anyone have any insight into how possible it might be to treat such a problem? A sense of what the odds are of being able to have such a problem treated would be greatly appreciated.

CRISPR is a very real possible treatment. If Mews theory is proven I expect one of us crazy PFSers to go to China to get an experimental treatment on this.

De-methylyzing agents are a less real possibility, but still possible.

How does CRISPR work and what might be the timeframe of it’s arrival for our treatment? You just take a pill and your DNA is fixed again? I’m sure that’s not the case, but a basic idea of what the principle of how it might be utilized would be appreciated.

I believe its an injection of an inactive virus that has its RNA modified, so when it tries to replicate in your body it actually changes your DNA sequence. It is very targeted and specific and they can alter it to fix many things from AIDs to other diseases. Its can also demethylate genes. Its already happening in China.

Any sense of what the timeframe might be on its theoretically possible availability for PFS treatment, if indeed it would work? 10 years? 20 years?

If we go through conventional means: a decade or more
If we crowdfund and send someone to China: a year or two

In another decade most of us will be past our sexual primes and for many even beyond the age that one gets married and has children. If the Baylor study further supports Mew theory and therefore suggests that CRISPR is the most direct solution to PFS, then let’s absolutely do everything we can to organize its trial for us.

Are the researchers even looking at silenced androgen receptors? So far they have found depression and low neuro steroids. That seems some way off from androgen receptors. Very few private companies are actually funding CRISPR studies most of it comes from the Chinese government. They would still need a commercial license to treat patients with CRISPR and that needs court approval from judges. That could hold back CRISPR for years especially if the Pharmas get involved and start lobbying against it’s use. I’d think we would need a CRISPR study on PFS first before anyone here could receive this treatment.
