In conclusion, herein we report simultaneous improvements in the libido, erectile dysfunction, and blood glucose levels in patients with diabetic erectile dysfunction after intracavernous transplant of human umbilical cord blood stem cells, without immune suppression. Despite the observed positive effects on diabetic erectile dysfunction, we cannot currently elucidate the exact mechanisms underlying these effects. We surmise that these effects may be attributable to as-yet-unidentified humoral factors generated by the stem cells themselves, the mechanisms relevant to our findings warrant further inquiries into this topic, although we could not rule out the transdifferentiation in mechanism.
