trabosky's thyroid profile

I was explaining some symptoms (random heart palpitations, anxiety, sensitivity to caffeine, hypertension, etc) to a medical type and they suggested a look at my thyroid.

Results from last week:

Free T4 - 1.19 (0.59-2.19)
TSH - 3.28 (0.465-4.680)
T3 Total - 1.00 (0.97-1.69)

Of course the doc sees these and since nothing is flagged he thinks nothing more of it. However, I had pre-fin profiles done and the TSH was MUCH lower. I can’t find the actual report, but I’m sure it was below 2 (with the same range).

Questions: Shouldn’t an elevated TSH increase T3 and T4 as well? Are there known hormone imbalances that directly affect TSH levels?

Thanks for the help.

There are a few guys here who ended up with elevated TSH after being on Finasteride (I’m one of them):

I don’t know, I’m not an expert on thyroid issues… you might want to check www.stopthethyroidmadness.com for more insights, or do further Googling.

Thyroid issues have been implicated in other conditions/hormonal imbalances, some of which guys here also have (lowered Testosterone, elevated Prolactin):

I’d suggest you get a full workup per the blood test list at top of this subforum.
