Hello, I have some questions about Finasteride/Propecia. I’m 25 and have recently started working out. Reading that this can increase hair loss, I wanted to do something to prevent it. Currently I have only barely noticeable receding hair line, which I’m sure will continue looking at the genetics on both sides of my family. At my last doctors visit I told my doctor I wanted to try Propecia. He wasn’t sure about its effectiveness and side effects so he wrote me a prescription, and told me to do my own further research to decide whether or not to use it. Its been almost 20 days and I’ve gone back and forth on whether to go to the pharmacy. It seems from what I’ve read that the side effects are experienced by a low percentage of people, but I’ve also read that DHT is very important to the male body, which makes me think that side effects should happen to all. My question is, is it worth the risk? Can I get away with taking a halved or quartered dosage just to reduce DHT levels by some, with some benefit? If it were possible to only reduce the amount of DHT instead of eliminate it, possibly brining the DHT levels down to pre-body building levels, I would be all for it.
Thanks for any help with my issue.
Why does there seem to be a sudden glut of users with selective vision posting on this site?
Did you not read the TITLE of this forum?
Did you not read the NOTICE at the top of this website? Nobody here condones Finasteride usage. READ:

This isn’t the site for you, hairloss sites are. Nobody is interested in discussing wether you should take the drug or not – OF COURSE we will all say stay away from it and that it’s not worth the risk, after it destroyed our health. Check the Finasteride Studies section for more info.
I will throw you a bone however, related to your DHT question. Short answer – even as little as 0.05 - 0.2mg mg inhibits nearly the same amount of DHT as 1mg, and DHT can stay surpressed for more than a week after a single dose:

Again, pls post on hairloss sites with questions related to taking the drug… otherwise you risk being banned here. Sorry, need to be firm because we get people asking the same ignorant questions over and over.
Thanks for the response. I realized after my post that my topic may not fit in here, but, I figured that their would be a wealth of information available on the forum that would be just what I was looking for. I was right. If only I would have been able to find it before I posted. Thanks for the bone. The information was really helpful to me. Finasteride seems like a powerful drug, and if I decide to use it, it will be weekly and the dosage will be a fraction of the manufactures recommended dosage.
