tips on finding a doctor for a newbie

So even though I have been suffering from sides for almost 2 years, I have still yet to see a doctor and discuss my situation.
I guess I was hoping things would quickly resolve on their own, but I now see that wasnt the case.

I’ve decided its time to find a doctor and see if they can help me in anyway. I have no idea what kind of doctor I should be looking for though. Should I find myself a general physician, a urologist, an anti aging doctor, or an endocrinologist?
Also when I finally find one, what exactly should I discuss on my first visit? Should I tell him my whole story about taking this drug, when why and for how long? Or should I just vaguely state that I am having sexual side effects and want to get blood work done?

Sorry if this is a dumb post lol Im just really clueless and would love some direction!

Not a dumb question. Here is the reality…

If you try to use a dr. in your insurance plan, then plan on every visit hearing the dr. say “I have never heard that before” (when talking about PFS). Then you whip out all your printed documents to “prove” what your condition is. Then the dr. says “I’ll look into this” and says come back for a follow up.

Trust me… skip all that and find a Dr. that is already familiar with this condition and uses progressive treatment options. There are no cures but only treatment options. Dr. Crisler & Dr. Shippen are at the forefront of this condition. Dr. Alan Jacobs may be another choice too. All will be $495-$600 for first visits…and no insurance accepted.

Yes it sucks that you can’t get treated under an insurance plan (I know) but the trade off is you go in and strasight to treatment and you can skip the part about where the Dr. thinks your crazy talking about a condition that the FDA would have surely addressed by now…hahahaha.

Good luck.

shit $600 for a visit? lol well I am young, currently unemployed, and in serious debt from my college loans. Looks like I wont be seeing a doctor for a while…

I researched in my area on Google and went to a doctor that had experience treating steroid users. When I saw him he explained that he had treated several Propecia suffers and he believed every word I said. He even asked me if I had nipple and testical pain (yes I did) without me bringing it up. I was shocked the he even knew of the side effects I was having before I brought it up.

Traveler-
You may want to consider posting a new thread that is specific to your Dr.'s office information. Other members in or near your area may find it useful…since finding Dr.'s that know about PFS is like finding a “needle in a haystack”.

what did he have to say about pfs? did he recommend any treatments that he has seen success with other patients?
