[ ] Other (please explain)

  1. Totally averse to the idea of taking any more f%$king meds of ANY kind. Exercise, supplements, and high-protein food.

  2. No pre-drug blood tests done.

  3. None.

  4. This is an evil, insidious drug (moreover the company that created and released it on the public without doing due dilligence). The hardest part of the experience is that it was literally life-altering. I have been effectively chemically castrated. In a sense, I should have kept taking the drug; because at least then I’d be able to keep my f%$king hair - since the side effects do not differ depending on the length of usage or exposure. Less than a month, and my brain’s sexual core has been permanently shut down. I feel like a Vulcan. How do we explain - proove - to our GP’s that we no longer “feel” anything for sex?!

I should have mentioned above that I experienced what many on the forum did after they quit, of having suddenly “returned to normal” for about a month, before becoming sexually desensitized 3-4 months down the road. Is this some kind of maladaptive response of the body which is still attempting to regain hormonal balance? Or is it more the death-throes of 5AR activity/DHT in the brain?
The question may have already been addressed, but there is so much on this great site that I haven’t been able to comb through - even with a search for content - that it’s overwhelming.
Any help would be appreciated as this is my first post (after being a lurker for about three months)

Cheers,
TB

If we knew, we’d have the answer to why our problems occurred and how they could be corrected. That’s the whole reason for this site and Finasteride Studies section, to try and “reverse engineer” what Fin might have done based on it’s mechanisms of action. Also, be sure to read through the THEORIES section as we try to piece together ideas about what the drug did and how to fix, based on the research we have read.

Generally speaking though, guys with issues like you and I that occur AFTER quitting find their Testosterone, LH and FSH levels crash and rarely reach levels they “should” be since. I’m assuming you have read the FAQ at top of site already.

It appears you do not have any bloodtests so I would recommend you get some to see where things are at hormonally: propeciahelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=92

Otherwise everything is just guesswork and docs will claim everything is psychological. But if you present with hypogonadal T levels, it’s pretty hard to argue with.

Libido is a tough thing to guage. But loss of nocturnal, spontaneous and morning erections and penile/scrotal shrinkage are not.

In general though, the only way you can “prove” loss of libido is basically to describe your situation, or maybe go through a test while watching porn and show them that you do not react sexually to the erotic images anymore (don’t get hard on your own). Also, the fact as a man you never think about or fantasize about sex anymore is a major sign something is wrong.

Mew,

Thanks for the response and the great input. I have combed through the FAQ, and am continuing to read my way through the site slowly. It's been a slog as I've been trying to get up the energy to face something that I'd rather just go into denial about.

But it’s great to have somewhere to vent and to share common experiences. I don’t know what I’d be doing now had it not been for the net and Procepiahelp.com

Thanks again.

Did the symptoms return immediately or was it gradual after quitting? What a disaster this drug is.

I experienced the similar sexual symptoms (no penile shrinkage) and have returned to normal since quitting a month ago. I wish you luck in conquering this bullshit.
