Thyroid problems??

I know what you mean when you talk about being tongue tied, I’ll get like that from time to time. Ill go to speak and i just blab out jibberish and my eyes go back in my head. very embarrasing…

What’s interesting, is that I’ve always been regarded as a quick-witted, articulate person…so when I fully realized the symptom, mostly AFTER it was gone, the drastic change was really noteworthy. It wouldn’t happen all the time, I mainly noticed it in the late afternoon/evening…and it was just as if I couldn’t formulate/articulate my thoughts, I was almost stuttering. Again, zero detected iodine in that initial 39-test (18 vials or something, can’t remember) panel, and a simple Ioderol supplement ordered by the doc did the trick. But it’s all symptomatic of thyroid function.

Im the same way. I felt like I was brain dead for a second, and just start stuttering. I actually had a very mild stuttering problem before all this as well.

latest labs…reflecting tongkat ali (5 days on / 2 off, several cycles) + armour thyroid:

unsure of what’s going on here w/ the thyroid, etc…can anyone lend their expertise?

Couple questions, are you getting b12 shots? You’re ferrettin is low. I think ur rt3 is high as well. I think the ratio should be 10 or higher if it were normal…Your cortisol is high… which I think is a good thing…

my b12 is through the roof. I supplement it sublingually daily. 1476 (range: 211-946).

I also supplement Iron and Folic Acid (along with very high Vits A and D and the whole alphabet, lol). And have an iron-rich diet. I believe it’s being used up, so it’s not an accurate measurement.

do you take b12 shots, or supplements?

B12 2000mcg supplement, sublingual, daily.

Then there’s all the beef I consume.

xhorndog- are you feeling any improvements?

bostonusa- did you try addressing thyroid with little response and thus concluded the problem is more macro than just the thyroid/adrenal issue? just wondering why you concluded what you did in your last post in this thread.

any one else go the route of testing (and treating if low) this issue in the past few months? what were your results? i’d love to know- good, bad, or indifferent!

I got my first round of blood tests drawn this morning. It will be a while before there is a comprehensive picture.

martin, you’ve never tested thyroid hormones before? Um… why?

I have had thyroid hormones tested, check my bloods. The endo said I was fine but only tested TSH I believe. I didn’t realize there was more I could do until we started looking into thyroid matters on this board.

I’ve been waiting because I’m not in the US right now and haven’t been able to afford testing. Someone else is paying for me. Now I finally have testing but it’s not what I’m choosing, it’s based on what the endo here thinks based on symptoms, so I don’t know how it will go yet, just that the process is started…

Well, I’m glad to hear that you are finally getting them tested. Not everyone here has such problems but Its good to rule things out. Make sure you get Free t3, free t4, and Reverse t3.

What was your tsh reading?

I’ve been researching the thyroid stuff a while. I’m planning on getting much more than just FT3, FT4, and RT3, but I have to go by the process here, I can’t request tests like I want…

Couple of things jump right out at me. Your morning cortisol is very low. It should be sky high at the top of the range. You need the 24 hour 4 point one though. That way you’ll see how your cortisol is at diff times of the day. Like bigmike said, you might also have high SHBG, and this means your e2 is high. High SHBG will bind up all your testosterone. which is why your free t is rock bottom…

That test was done a long time ago when I first got off fin. The more recent test is this:

Cortisol: 17.6; 4-22 mcg/dL (AM)

It’s not as high as it should be and I was feeling pretty good this day, I crashed almost right after these blood tests were drawn, I got anxiety when they stuck me with the needle.

I agree that I need to do the 24 hour test but I don’t even know if it’s done where I am right now. I seem to have low test symptoms and have also wanted to test SHBG for a while too…

Yes, it still should be higher, but where are you located right now that you don’t think you can get it tested? I suggest you try getting back to the states some how, if money isnt a problem for you and get testing done. You say you’ve been in this situation for a while now, but still havent taken the initiative to do enough about it, such as testing enough or seeing a good doc. If money is a concern or lack of insurance then I can understand, but otherwise you really need to get the ball rolling on the testing. If you’re in the UK then I sympathize. There health system is a joke.

Right now I’m in Russia and have no money. My girlfriend is paying everything I think because she feels sorry for me.

Dang, that really sucks. I feel for you bro. I’m sitting here with full insurance but its about finding the right doc. Ive developed a pretty good understanding of hormones now, and I know exactly what tests I need. My doc wont test everything. That is my main problem, so I made an appointment with Dr. Crisler today. My hormonal problems are pretty telling… low cortisol at all times of day… low free t… low free t3… I really need to test pregnenolone… I believe my cortisol production line is downregulated.

Bypass the insurance if you can afford it. There are recommendations of labs that due this on stopthethyroidmadness.com
