'The usual sides' should I carry on?

Hi,

I’m Joe and I am 19 years old, I began taking finasteride 4 months ago initially 1.0 mg per day then I came off it for a week, then since I have been taking roughly 0.25 mg a day.

Here are the side effects that I have experienced[u]

  • Watery semen (initial two weeks, couldn’t really care less about it)

  • Very fast heart rate particularly when I got nervous or drinking a lot of alcohol

  • Possibly brain fog, I have been talking to friends and gone blank on very casual things which I never usually do, hair loss in itself has caused me much anxiety though so I suspect it may not be down to fin?

  • I currently have a red/brown patch with little spots on my head which has came with the use of finasteride ( when I quit, it subsided) I don’t know what the hell this is, but it’s wierd.

The one that really worries me[/u]

  • Morning wood has became non existant since I have taken fin and it didn’t come back when I quit. I used to have morning erections every day without fail, rock hard ones too. I’m very concerned about this purely because of the fact that a pill is influencing my sexual hormones so strongly.

    I can however    [u]

  • Masturbate/ have sex with no problems and orgasm easily

  • Gain erections easily through influence, although it doesn’t seem as easy

Generally I’m not sure if I feel quite right on fin either (down there) things just feel a bit numb when I wake up, and I think shrivel dick from cold and anxiety is made worse by taking it.

So, I’m just after some general advice - how serious do these side effects sound? generally they sound like the typical ones. I am going to book a dermatologist within the next week in hope they he/ she knows about finasteride.

Did you even read what the title of this forum is?

This is not the site for you if you continue to take the drug. If you quit and end up having persistent side effects weeks or months after, then this is the site for you.

Many of the side effects you mention are common for guys having problems from the drug. Only way to know if they will reverse is to stop taking it. Nobody here will recommend you take Finasteride, it is simply too dangerous. Your derm will likely downplay any side effects. Read the Finasteride Studies section for some real insights into what this drug can do:

Dude, I thought you had already quit. Do it now and don’t wait! Finasteride is far too dangerous in our (teen)age.
If you need more proof, get a sperm test done. Watery semen probably means that you’re infertile (own experience). And I’m probably right, if I say it’s not only watery (transparent), but reduced in amount and also doesn’t fly anymore (because the prostate lacks strength).
